My friend is a professional dancer and when it came to learning to dane samba, she knew that if she wanted to get to the core of her dancing lessons she went to a Brazillian dance instuctor. Like how she went to a Argentinian dance instructor to learn tango & Puntas with the Hondurians. =)~
Dancing is not tied to race, I'm a Latina and I couldn't dance to save my life. Race means nothing. Leave these girls alone, I think they did a great job.
I just love how brazilians STOLE tribal African music, gave it a new name (samba) and act like its their music. Get a CLUE all of the music from south america originated in africa.. regardless of what name you attach to it... salsa.. samba.. whatever... it's AFRICAN music!!! @ccdotnet Everone knows that latin music is a mixture of native and african music. It is well known that the African slaves in the Americas brought their music with them, and as the years went by the other groups of people adopted it. In El Salvador we mostly listen to Cumbias which originated from the Africans in Colombia. Just because I'm not black does not mean I can not enjoy Cumbias, Salsa, Merengue, Samba, etc. Music is universal, it can be played, danced, and enjoyed by anyone.
Looks like you had fun and the audience enjoyed it. Nothing else matters. Plus, I bet you look a lot better than any of your detractors. Keep dancin'...

It may not have been a specifically Latin dance!! Just a school performance on a good song. However, that is still not an excuse for the lack of good co-ordination or sync in the girls. No expressions to match the song either. Latin Dances, or even any dance always relates to the music it accompanies. And this need to be portrayed through either facial expressions or hand/body movements. Still, good effort.
I think it's imposible to expect from northamericans to dance like brazilians , they have a special way to dance.
In all videos I've seen from northamericans dancing these song, they have this style, something of contemporaneous dance, something of ballet, and something of african style, well that's rythms that they can dominate and adapt to this song, not brazilian style obviously

This is really bad. The problem is that everyone thinks they can dance this song but no one can do it any justice. @bonjourbelle i don t think anyone tried to offend you but if i look at you all, youlook like Egyptian or Arabic dancers but the song is Brazilian so its like the outfit and coreography looks as if it doesnt go with Brazilian music, it's just a critic, you are all excellent dancers!!!

It may not have been a specifically Latin dance!! Just a school performance on a good song. However, that is still not an excuse for the lack of good co-ordination or sync in the girls. No expressions to match the song either. Latin Dances, or even any dance always relates to the music it accompanies. And this need to be portrayed through either facial expressions or hand/body movements. Still, good effort.

I think it's imposible to expect from northamericans to dance like brazilians , they have a special way to dance.
In all videos I've seen from northamericans dancing these song, they have this style, something of contemporaneous dance, something of ballet, and something of african style, well that's rythms that they can dominate and adapt to this song, not brazilian style obviously

This is really bad. The problem is that everyone thinks they can dance this song but no one can do it any justice. They might as well have been dancing ballet to it because the routine had no brazilian flavor. That would be like me putting on some mariachi music and trying to break dance to it. Meu Deus do Ceu!
