People just need to quit being soooo sensitive to what other people think of them. I'm part Welsh, Polish, Irish, Czech, and Cherokee Indian. What does it matter. However, I think Asian women are strikingly beautiful. But none of this matters if you are overly concerned with what you are on the outside only. Let who and what you are shine out from the inside, and be proud of it. Wine is only good if it really tastes good, no matter what the bottle looks like, or how much it was.

I prefer the term Eurasian because hapa originally referred to someone who was half Hawaiian native, half anything else (usually white). I'd rather leave the Hawaiian word for the Hawaiians to use as they see fit.

@kittyeggrolls Eurasian is actually for Turkish people.. or people around middle east-europe. Turkish don't look like arabs, they look more european with a middle east twist (black hair for example) hence Eurasian. Turkey itself often called Eurasia because the country has two parts: the Asia part and the Europe part. I'm guessing you are half asian (as in north asia) and half american.. so Eurasian doesn't fit you either..

There are species of birds called Eurasian because they have ranges in both Europe and Asia. Are you saying they're Turkish? Just because YOU use one word in a very restrictive way doesn't mean everyone else has to. I didn't make up the term Eurasian to describe my racial admixture. Go blame the person who did for stealing it away from your Turkey-centric view of the world.

True, Hapa is a Hawaiian term meaning half. Although it was originally used to refer to a person of polynesian and caucasian ancestry. The term was coined by the Asians who were half white, which I find annoying. Asians in Hawaii are often trying to take things from polynesian culture and make it their own.There are alot of people who are Asian living in Hawaii trying to call themselves Hawaiian. It saddens me when I see non polynesians confused by this, then thinking Asians look Hawaiian.

The only reason any of you would have an trouble from people around you is because of their lack of education and exposure to the world beyond their indoctrination and comfort zones. Hate and Rejection are never about the person being hated or rejected... it's always about the hater and his/her fear of the unfamiliar. Especially a cultural group of people, I don't say race or people for a reason, like the jews can't be stereotyped that easily. The cultural unity that is declared as jewisch is scattered througout the world. Before the nazis took power in germany the germanes made a difference between the german jews or german semites and those who came from the east to rescue them self from progroms(dunno if it is the right english word ).

This is such an odd American phenomenon. I know we are an immigration nation, so it makes sense that racial heritage is referenced, but I wonder when we will just be "American." Also "Jewish" is a religious description, not a racial description. Any race CAN convert to or defect from Judaism, but you can NOT convert to, or defect from Caucasian or Black, for instance.

There will be a day when we look back and find it as silly as our ancestors throwing rocks at the eclipsing moon. Yeah, but there is undeniably a difference between a Georgian and a Korean, or a Spaniard and a Hutu. My question is what would the peoples traditionally associated with Judaism be considered. To use a coarse example, there's a stereotype of Jews having big noses. Obviously, this stereotype wouldn't exist if the "Jewish people" were ethnically one-and-the-same with the rest of the world's population.

@VictimOfBoredom, yeah, there are superficial differences that can be explained by a predominance of bodytypes. Everything can be generalized. As for the Jew=Big Noses, that was Nazi "science" and has no relevance beyond a mythological stereotype, like saying all Asians look alike. There were Polish, Russian, German, etc Jews at the time. I live in NYC with millions of Jews and believe me, while many of them are adorable, they all look as different from each other as any other people of a race.

At first, I thought this was just going to be about Americans of Asian ethnicity, because 99% of the time, that's what "Asian American" refers to. So I was pleasantly surprised to see it was a video about "hapas" like me. :)

Anyways, there isn't nearly enough "hapa" awareness. If you're single-race, you've instantly got social access to a whole group of people. Even if you're half-black, you're usually considered black. But if you're half-Asian/half-white, you're always considered the "other".

i am a proud canadian, (both my parents are Indian) and i am proud to say i come from Indian hertiage but there are times when i wish i could just be like everyone else, it really does affect your social life. I mean, people arent racist persay but unconsciously your just not accepted by them, thats the way it is, its the deep seated discrimination, it doesnt make them bad people, there just naive, not sure if thats the right word for it
