when shooting a person with everything in focus (background/foreground) that typically is a environmental portrait indoors or outdoors, and if done right it will look fantastic... It's great to see bokeh to seperate the subject but its also more interesting using interesting environments to tell a story to an image without the bokeh and help support the subject.
@JaredPolin I've tried registering to the forum but it just tells me that my registration form is spam, then when I click to contact you it again tells me that it's spam? So the only way to actually get to you is commenting on here! I would appreciate it if you could set up an account for me so I can take part in this. Thanks! :)
I like the trees in the background. It gives the image a beautiful fairy-tale type look. The subject isn't necessarily the person as much as the topic of 'beauty in Winter'. Whether it's usable is a matter of what the client was going for, but I REALLY like it.
do u ever get the problem that you can't downloads things like you have to right click on everything and press download file linked (by the way this is on a mac). And love the videos
Jared, I wanted to share a quick something with you. It's completely unrelated to this video but I thought it was pretty funny. So I was wearing my "I Shoot Raw" shirt and my older sister made this face of disgust.
I said "What's that face for?"
She goes "TINA! Why are you wearing that shirt? You're a girl! Why are you talking about 'shooting raw?' SICK!"
She thought the shirt meant unprotected sex. I tried to explain to her the difference between RAW and JPEG and she didn't believe me. Haha.
@JaredPolin Suggestions? I'm amazed how many people actually told me to use Camtasia in reply to my next comment! ;) Thanks for trying! I really do love what you're doing! I'm considering attempting to run OS X in a virtual machine!
@JoeTaibiJr The only comparable windows program is Camtasia.Studio and that's an investment of $300 vs $99 for Screenflow.I understand this is the hardware you use but your competitions are more OS exclusive than I'd hoped.
@LowCountryWild Thanks, I'll look inyo it. I simply can't understand why my statement containing the fact that Camtasia costs $300 is followed by so many replies telling me I should use Camtasia? LOL
you dont have to shoot every portrait at 200, if you do a wide angle portrait, you think more about composition, and you try to make the backround not that distracting
what about a new 5 min portret ? I did not seen one in a while and I know you have one with Adam in NY (I think). I am sure there are lots of people wanting RAW edits, but you narrow your activity to RAW edits and weekly theme. Unfortunately it starts to be boring...
Maybe you can finish D7000 videos (part 2 awaiting for half year?) do the same with D4 (when you get it), or maybe a video about Spyder3... or maybe some tutorials/tips... or maybe studio lightning (as you bought some recent)...
I bet the Dutch angle isn't deliberate. I get the feeling that the thoughts of the photographer while taking this picture had more to do with striking the "pose" rather then framing the composition right. "See how cool I look when I turn my camera 87 degrees!". Probably did the bendy legs position as well. Don't you love wedding albums that give you sea sickness after a while?
@JaredPolin When are you picking your favorites for this one?!?!
