I did not know until I read an interview he gave... that he actually drummed on a few Bob Marley and the Wailers J.A.D. releases and toured with Johnny Nash......and this Reggae style influenced how he played on Aretha franklin's Rocksteady and a few other big hits....

Some serious funky stuff from longtime funky drummer Bernard "Pretty" Purdie. This was released as a 45 on the Date label in 1967, and reached #48 on Billboard's R&B charts. Funkayyyyyyyy!
