Thank you so much for this. enjoy Indian food and have just decided to try cooking it myself. You make it much nicer to learn. Again, thank you for all your work.
hi anti! yeh toor daal ko Urdu main kya kehtay hain? i am from Pakistan and here there is not such daal named Toor dal Can u tell me some other name of this daal?
Dear manjulaji, I got a pressure cooker from India since I was not very happy with the alternatives available in the US,,could you guide me with it - how many "seetis" or whistles of the pressure cooker before the daal is ready?
I have been told that spices are useless until fried in oil to release their oil and aroma/taste. Why have you added turmeric at the onset without frying it. Would it not be better to fry it with the chaunk for better taste ?
Thanks for sharing your videos Aunty! I am Canadian n love indian food:) esp. vegetarian dishes. So tasty and flavorful! yum. I just made daal this evening and I added tomatoes, onions, garlic n indian drum stick to mine, had it over rice with fish on the side. Scrumptious!
Your videos are such an encouragement! I have been cooking Indian style for a few years, off and on, carefully following a recipe book and it went well. However, I watched this video (and the rajma bean stew yesterday), went out today and bought a really good pressure cooker (my old one was quite cheap) and I must say, this is SO delicious! I have two different toor dal dishes as you desribed here and love the contrast.
Thank you! My lips are warm and glowing - Chilies!
hi mayouches...u can cook toordaal in microwave also..just sock daal for 30 min and then put it in mcro. on hight power for 8 min but dont forget to stear it occationally..i hope u like my reply..
Which brand is your pressure cooker ?. Why I am asking is that in some brands, the dal leaks out while cooking in the base of the pressure cooker especially when the whistle comes on . thanks
Paprika is a spice made from the grinding of dried sweet red or green bell peppers (Capsicum annuum). In many European countries, the name paprika also refers to bell peppers themselves. The seasoning is used in many cuisines to add colour and flavour to dishes.
