The Mach is obviously modded. C5 vette has 345 CRANK hp stock and 330 tq- not sure where you are getting 320hp from. Also the Vette is a lot lighter. Stock for stock the C5/C6 vette ownes Mach 1. - of course you can mod anything and make it fast.
Everytime I've raced a C5, I pull on them about a car a second, on highway and stoplight. My car is stock 5spd with a Hurst short shifter and magnaflow exhaust. Never raced a C6 though

ok, i think you and i are on the same page..for the most part, the reason you use gear reduction is because it multiples torque, for engines that dont throw down as much torque. think of it as a higher gear ration as like having a longer handle on a wrench, if you put the same amount of force on the longer wrench, you will have more torque applied to the bolt. i dont understand why ford only uses a 4.6, i have an 02 mustang gt, and i have had no problems for alomst 2 years. also gets 25-30 mpg
i amnot sure the 4.6 is a descent motor, and ford rears are prety good. i had a old 5.0 liter 8.8 10 bolt rear. 3:73 gears b303 cam straight exhaust with borla mufflers and lowred 1.5 inches toreduce drag for car. i only like the mach cause it can bea mid 13 second car and faster then the 05 GT easily and a nice redlineof 6700 revs. better then the cheap 5500 on the stock GT. i raced a slightly midded 2000 in my tl and killed him. i love sound of stang, but interior is hideous.

i have an auto gt and i get about .2 to .3 better on my et. if i use the shifter instead of just "D". I did beef my tranny up but even when it was stock. sucks when you shift late though...
if you down shift you get a much better reaction though. Even with my auto, when I mash the pedal, there's a small delay to shift. Thats why you manually downshift instead of relying on the "D" gear. Though i do have a shift kit/stall converter, so.
i got an 01 cobra with a few bolt ons and i've taken 6 speed vettes all day. a mach can pull on a vette if its stock. the mach needs a few bolt ons though. my cobra ran 12.9@107
BTW is absolutely right my 96 cobra other than mufflers is stock and basically the same engine as the mach and its more than able of beating C5 vettes with the exception of the zo6
Most people don't understand that a Mustang can actually be faster than a Corvette. Can a stock Mach 1 take a C6? No. Can a stock Mach take a Z06? No. Can a stock Mach take a C5? Yes, and it should do so consistently.

as what formula said. That race just shows it, at 110 or so that vette started to catch back up to him. Those 2.73 gears suck for the the vette, but they will have some major top end mph. Plus to the fact that the auto has to drop down a gear before it really gets going, the mach 1 was already in the right gear and didn't have to shift. That is always a fact too. Though i give props the Mach 1's are nice fast cars, a crap load better than the gt's!!

I ran a 13.2@107 when my Mach 1 was stock, With only Drag Radials, And this Vette wasnt even a 6-speed it was an auto so it must of been slower than yours.

PCM, FRTRS3650 (regeared racing 3650), extra weight reduction-3126lbs.) and ive got 600 bucks into it and i can walk a 5 stick, i mean i dont rape em but if i dont get about 1 1/2 cars by 100 then im spinning too hard when i shift. now theyre still vettes so i bet if they put 600 bucks in their cars theyd be able to run me..maybe.
Both cars should run mid 13's. Those auto C5's come with 2.73 gears and are slow off the line. But it should have been a close battle. Auto vettes are not made for drag racing like Mach 1's are. Try to find a stock 6-speed C5, it should put up a much better fight.
Guys you do know this is a base model 02 vette, not a Z06, the base model vette for 02 isnt that fast plus it was an auto. I know he should of done better but you guys make out to seem that he should of killed me.
If your Mach can't beat a Vette, your doing something wrong. I've gotten them both on a roll, and from a dig. I still even beat them after swapping to an IRS (eat's some pwr)

LOVE Mach 1's more than vettes, but I already know any vette will destroy pretty much any mustang. Vettes are lighter, more aerodynamic, stronger, etc. I would still take a Mach 1 as far as preference goes, but if I ever run into a vette on the street I don't know if I would even bother to race him. My uncle has a C5 405 hp vette, and he's added a little bit here and there and now its pushing 540 hp naturally aspirated.

The Mach is obviously modded. C5 vette has 345 CRANK hp stock and 330 tq- not sure where you are getting 320hp from. Also the Vette is a lot lighter. Stock for stock the C5/C6 vette ownes Mach 1. - of course you can mod anything and make it fast.

ok, i think you and i are on the same page..for the most part, the reason you use gear reduction is because it multiples torque, for engines that dont throw down as much torque. think of it as a higher gear ration as like having a longer handle on a wrench, if you put the same amount of force on the longer wrench, you will have more torque applied to the bolt. i dont understand why ford only uses a 4.6, i have an 02 mustang gt, and i have had no problems for alomst 2 years. also gets 25-30 mpg

i amnot sure the 4.6 is a descent motor, and ford rears are prety good. i had a old 5.0 liter 8.8 10 bolt rear. 3:73 gears b303 cam straight exhaust with borla mufflers and lowred 1.5 inches toreduce drag for car. i only like the mach cause it can bea mid 13 second car and faster then the 05 GT easily and a nice redlineof 6700 revs. better then the cheap 5500 on the stock GT. i raced a slightly midded 2000 in my tl and killed him. i love sound of stang, but interior is hideous.

as what formula said. That race just shows it, at 110 or so that vette started to catch back up to him. Those 2.73 gears suck for the the vette, but they will have some major top end mph. Plus to the fact that the auto has to drop down a gear before it really gets going, the mach 1 was already in the right gear and didn't have to shift. That is always a fact too. Though i give props the Mach 1's are nice fast cars, a crap load better than the gt's!!

PCM, FRTRS3650 (regeared racing 3650), extra weight reduction-3126lbs.) and ive got 600 bucks into it and i can walk a 5 stick, i mean i dont rape em but if i dont get about 1 1/2 cars by 100 then im spinning too hard when i shift. now theyre still vettes so i bet if they put 600 bucks in their cars theyd be able to run me..maybe.

Both cars should run mid 13's. Those auto C5's come with 2.73 gears and are slow off the line. But it should have been a close battle. Auto vettes are not made for drag racing like Mach 1's are. Try to find a stock 6-speed C5, it should put up a much better fight.

LOVE Mach 1's more than vettes, but I already know any vette will destroy pretty much any mustang. Vettes are lighter, more aerodynamic, stronger, etc. I would still take a Mach 1 as far as preference goes, but if I ever run into a vette on the street I don't know if I would even bother to race him. My uncle has a C5 405 hp vette, and he's added a little bit here and there and now its pushing 540 hp naturally aspirated.
