  • as a soldier that has been in for close to 5 years i still cry every time i listen to this song and it reminds me why i joined the army

  • :( rest in peace, my brother now in afganistan and i'm afraiding now ;(((

  • Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

  • Great job. Also an Army wife. My heart hurts for all the familes whose soldiers didn't come home.

  • Thankyou to all that have served and who are serving

  • This song is perfect in honoring the fallen soldiers I just hope they know we will always support them

    Thank you

  • This song breaks my heart. It reminded me of my two cousins while they were in Iraq, and the just got home a few weeks ago safely. My husband leaves in 2 months for Kandahar Afghanistan. So back to reliving the daily nightmare.

  • @Lacyola

I got two cousins in the military too. One's over in Iraq now and the other will probably go when his training is over. My uncle just got back. I was so scared something would happen to him, and now I'm terrified something will happen to my cousins. My heart goes out to you, and my prayers do as well.

  • Thank you God for every one of these ones who had the guts to go lay it down for their country. Lord, please tell them it may look bad but by your grace their country is still here and there are still some of us who arent going to quit.

  • the heroes are those boys and girls don't come back the have seen the end of war. they are the only people that have seen the end of war

my boys will forever be with me

    i will never forget

  • No matter what choices you made, I'll always love you and i'll never forget you i promise. You will always mean the world to me, and you will be in my heart forever.

    "pinky promise baby".

You are my HERO forvever and always. xXx

  • YOUTUBE/YAHOO NEW WORLD ORDER!!

  • Im tired of funerals, but I will not quit.

    We will roll on, HOOAH!

  • Rest In Peace Vance...........

  • i know your watching me dad. i want to go to iraq like you did but...i dont know. please help me.

  • Wow that was a really intense comment bud. I think your father is proud just to know that you think so highly of him and still think about him. Good luck in your decision.

  • this really makes you think twice about joining the army, im joing to become an aircraft technician, i hope if something happens to me im remembered

  • this is super hard to watch as i am writting this i am crying really hard i can not imagine what is like to lose someone who is really close but i have a feeling that i am going to be losing my cuz Aaron during his second tour to Iraq he gets deployed April 15 i have been having a scary dream about him never coming home now i go days on end without sleeping he says he is going to come back but i know it is not allways the case

    God Bless Our Troops

    Love u Aaron<3

    Thank U

    u`ll b remembered

  • Do not think about him dying, do not think about him being gone, do not think about him about to die...........Think about him doing what he loved, think about him doing something for America, think about him being a hero.....My father taught me that. Sure Im 13, he's 40 now, he was in Desert Storm from 1989-'82..HE got married, and I wish I could been with him in the Marines as well. Dont worry, your cousin wil be fine..

  • Hey ilovecorbinandespen. Yes soldiers die in war but don't give something that hasn't happend yet power over you. Think positive and be supportive of your cousin. Leave nothing un-said but don't put a finality on any thing. Deal with what comes when it comes!

  • Hey, ilovecorbiandespen. Your cousin will be fine. I just got back from iraq on feb., 28th. That was my second tour. First one was in 2004. Well let me tell you something, there is nothing going on over there as of right now, all of the patrols are done by Iraqi Army. it is not like in 2004. Main factor for the soldiers, well atleast for infantry, was bordom. so dont worry, he'll be fine.

  • This is very hard to watch I'm getting deployed June 7th to do my part and I am very excited.

  • @combatmedic32 ~ Heavenly Blessings to You! May Angel Wings Protect You!

  • @combatmedic32 do not by excited... son you will cam home in a body bag

    ALLAH U AKBAR

  • @combatmedic32 Good luck buddy, you'll need it.

    Love you Krissy

Thank You to all of the Soldiers who have served out country!!!!!

  • A thanks to our soldiers...for doing what many wont, God bless them...

I am an f-15 pilot back from my latest trip there.

I have a letter i wrote for my husband like this and my husband who is also in the military navy actually wrote a letter too..It;s sad...but...people read these everyday.

  • cool :)

  • its so sad but so true i cry when ever i see this because my brother is in the army and my 2 couzins are in the marines.i may only be 11 but i wish to fite for our country wen im older.

  • Im currently serving my third combat tour in Iraq, and this video is hard for me to watch. I myself have a letter similar to what is sung here, though I hope it never gets opened. But this song reminds me of the Brothers and Sisters I have lost. We still lose people. Just a few days ago, Four Marines were killed, two of whom were female Marines. But thank you for the video. RIVER CITY, may they all rest in peace

  • my bro got done with his third tour from iraq and my friend just went there today

  • wow, i cant stop crying. i am litterally ballin. my bf is over there and now im really worried about him. iwas b 4 but now, man, i know its nesacary but its really sad! God bless our troops and may God b with them every step of the way!

Thanks Everybody and keep this CLEAN and Un NEGATIVE &NO POLITICS!!!!!

  • its there opinion of wat they think of this video so u can shut up because its a free country and we can say watever the hell we want

  • As a member of the national guard in pennsylvania I have known people to fall saving there country both in this war and others. I would greatly appreciate it if you would keep your negetive cocky ass attitudes to your damn self and bitch about them somewhere else other than online where alot of people and/or soldiers go to find sympathy and condolences cause they may not have someone to turn to like all of you do. These videos are put together to commerate those who have fallen KEEP IT THAT WAY

  • right on... ill be leaving for the air force in may and im tired of people talking shit about the military.. without the military where the hell would we be?

  • way to go i wish u all the luck and hope u do well if u would like to chat sometime search for me on yahoo under stud21e

  • u can shut up to like i said free country and freedom of speech so i dont care if your in the national guard i have 2 brother and 3 cousins and an uncle in the army so i dont really care!

  • hwy mikerussel i just want to say i very sorry for ur loss i want to thank u and everybody in the 2nd Battalion 12Th Infantry Regiment in Baghdad and even those who have payed the ulitamite price.THAT U AND GOD BLESS

  • this tribute is moving I serve this nation of the USA as we speak and i've loss very good friends and this video brought ALOT of tears to my eyes....it feels good that people do care RIP Jeremiah J. Veitch, Justin A. Verdejah, and all the guy who died while serving with 2nd Battalion 12Th Infantry Regiment in Baghdad. I love you guys and miss you very much. Can't wait to sdee you guy in heaven!

  • Wow. I have read some of the proceeding posts regarding this video, and I hate to say it, but it sickens me that some of the people here have made it a place to a place to argue political views. Remember, it's the troop that has fought in past battles that gives you freedom of speech, not the reporter. I wish that some of you had the courage to throw the uniform on and place yourselves in danger. Also, troops can't say whatever they feel. Hope you enjoy your freedoms buddy. They may not last.

  • Thank You to all our military who protects and defends our America the Beautiful.

    AMK USAF Retired 1995

  • The families of the fallen soldiers will always be proud of them and receive only respect.

  • I have heard this song many times, but this video certainly gives me some tears. I am scheduled to deploy sometime this fall and this video has certainly hit home. And thanks to the tropps before me that have given the ultimate sacrifice and allowed me to serve my country. Gone, but never forgotten!! HOOAH!!

  • thanks for serving our country and i will pray for your saftey so that you may return home to your family

    God bless the U.S.

  • As a veteran of OIF ( twice ) this video hits me hard knowing I have lost some of my best friends there, this is a great video thank you for putting it together for the troops.

  • this song is sooooooooo sad

i listen to it every day

sometimes 5 times a day but only when my dad, cousin, aunt, unkle or anyone that i know gos somewhere where they could die any second. sniff sniff tear tear

    love ya lots bye

  • I pray for all the soldiers that God may watch over them and bring them home safe. I watch these videos and it makes me all depressed!!!!

  • I'm retired and can't go back again, but thank you for your prayers. In the name of good friends who are going, I thank you. They need all your prayers.

  • i hate this song. it sucks. it makes me cry. i wanna say screw the army. but only kuz i dont want him to go. and have this happen.

  • Karissa, I understand your sadness. I was over there and my wife had it hard. Remember he loves you. Write him every chance you get. My wife sent me emails and letters. She sent me a letter every day and every chance I had to go and look at email there was plenty to read. Keep up your prayers for him.

  • actually i cant believe i even made it this far. basic and AIT are supposed to be the easy part. but its deffinently not. its horrible. it feels like he's been gone forever. even tho its only been about 6 months. and ive gotten to see him twice. but i think that just makes it harder for me... im hoping for a career change.

  • Just remember that him knowing you love him and are waiting for him is what keeps him alive. Write him a letter every chance you get. That will make it easy on both you and him. I am talking with experience here. Write him.

  • i love making him happy. and i will do watever i can to keep him how he is now. but i hate writing him. kuz it makes me miss him more. and it just upsets me. the only reason i do it, is for him...

  • Believe me, You will not regret it in the end. I have a box full of all the letters my wife sent me. She also has the box with the letters I sent her. I also have all the emails we sent back and forth backed up on a CD. I'll say a prayer for you and everyone else who has family down range tonight.

  • My prayers go out to all our soldiers who are fighting. May God watch over you.

  • Amen.

  • Great video...sad...beacuse my cousin is going to iraq...but..great video!!!

  • I hope he makes it back. I'll add your cousin to my prayers tonight. Every night I pray for our troops over their. I made it back and I'm on their side.

  • thanks i thank you!

  • These soldiers are absolutely amazing and hopefully they will be coming home safe really soon!

  • Amen!!

  • amazing song, i love it. it really says alot about how people feel when their soldier dies

  • RIP to all who are lost and i have the up most respect for all military men and wemon thank you for your Sacrifice

    Tim H.

  • This is amazing!!! My husband is in Iraq right now and I pray that I never have to read a letter like this. I was supposed to go with him but just before we were supposed to leave I found out I was pregnant with our son. This is a really hard song for me to listen to because of the part where it says he wont be there to see the birth of his little girl. My husband has yet to meet our son and Im praying he gets the chance. Thanks for this video. And thank you for your support!!!!

  • I hope he makes it home. My biological father died in Vietnam and never saw me. I was 21 when I learned who he really was. My turned hippie biological mother gave me up for adoption. At least she didn't choose baby murder (Abortion). I will pray your Son sees his father. I will also pray for you and your husband.

  • Thanks for the support. I happy your biological mother chose to do the right thing. The support us army wives (and the kids) get even from total strangers makes a world of difference and even though you may not think youre directly helping the soldiers, your support for the families makes the families stronger which makes the soldiers stronger.

  • The first time Tim sang this live, hours earlier our son left to become a Marine. The next time I allowed myself to listen to this song, was family day Parris Island SC. For those we have lost, please watch over and protect him and all of those who continue to keep us free...

  • I pray every night for those fighting. I pray they all have the luck I had and come home.

  • This was an amazing tribute to those who we have lost. The first time Tim sung this live, was the day our son left to become a Marine. May those who have gone before him, watch over and protect those who continue to fight to protect our freedom.

  • I'm not much of a country fan, but this song is great.

I go to basic training early August 2008 some time.

  • This song means a lot to me and makes me cry every time i watch it or listen to it on the radio..my fiancee leaves today for Iraq and its taking a hard hit on me..we were supposed to get married before he left but we couldnt get the marriage license in time...so please pray for all the soldiers out there!! I Love You James!!! you mean the world to me!!

  • I really felt that one! Thank You!

  • one of Tims bests

  • i love this song its the best ever

  • I have watched every video posted of the song "If you're reading this" and I was most touched by your compilation. I will NEVER, EVER forget the picture of the woman sleeping next to her husband's casket. I am dating a pilot in the USAF and My heart hurts for all of the families already affected by the war. Thank you for your video. Michelle (AL)

  • Im supposed to be shipping out to iraq in early 2008 and just had a daughter born 1 month ago when i leave she will be 6 months and i wont see her till shes a little more than 2 years. Hopefully i get to come back to them. but songs like this make me feel all good inside

  • i'm a proud cousin of a american solider! go eric!

  • As the wife of a former serviceman and the proud daughter of a retiree and the sister of one currently serving. Words cannot begin to express the feelings that this song conveys. And whoever make this video gets KUDOS from me for making a wonderful tribute and really capturing the feelings behind this song, And there isn't a time that i hear it that I don't tear up. This was wonderfully done. And a thank you to all who have, are, and will be serving this country. May angels guard your steps.

  • I love the song!

  • If in this land of sand swept winds, and searing heat,

It should be that my life ends, my duty done.

Do not leave me here with those that caused my death,

Bring me home to rest in gentle sunshine, rain or snow,

And i will sleep content in this my native earth.

  • :(...so sad
