The setting i use for "Money for Nothing" would be either bridge humbucker with gain ( or distortion ) at about 6-7, then back the tone control to about 3-4 and boost treble/presence to get some bite back into the sound ( or a treble booster)....or...
Neck middle with treble/presence set high or treble booster.
You do play well! The first laser show I saw used this music - feels weird to say that was back before the turn of the century, but it still sounds well cool

The Les Paul - I think I just set the tone control down a fair bit and then used a treble booster to get some bite back into the sound.
