China has a long way to learn how to be as civilised as Taiwan. Taiwanese can tolerate different points of view, but the Chinese has no ability to do so.
If most Taiwanese choose to be slaves forever, that's their decision and fate. Taiwan was a beautiful island with numerous aboriginal tribes before 1624. Dutch and Spanish colonized Taiwan during 1624-1662. Taiwan was a pirate base of Koxinga Family during 1662-1683. Taiwan was colonized by Manchus during 1683-1895. Taiwan was a colony of Japanese during 1895-1945. Both de jure and de facto, Taiwan has been a colony of the USA and ROC-in-exile since 1945. Whose colony will Taiwan become next?
1. As long as the murderers are not tried, punished or condammed, the issue will not be over in the minds of victims' families, no matter how long.
2. KMT=CKS=the then ROC Government=228 murderers. KMT still officially treat CKS as their deceased saviour and refuse to acknowledge that he was responsible for the 228 Masscare.
3. We need to educate our people about the truth and the value of democracy.
The song is not about nurturing hatred, it's about memorializing their and others' fathers who were slaughtered in the 228 massacre. What else do you think they can do to ease their pain? No murderers have ever been tried or punished; the truth has been muddled by KMT even now and there are so many unanswered questions; and worst of all, have we found a way to prevent this kind of things from happening again, in our beloved Taiwan?

(continued) 2d, you referred to "KMT murderers" while actually, action has been made on behalf of the ROC Central Government. Therefore, so-called "unanswered questions" must be investigated by current authorities in Taiwan province, unless you acknowledge a succession of state, from ROC to PRC had occurred, and want current authorities on the mainland to be in charge of the investigation. Is it what you want?
