Also, I think the days of 'not using guides' for me was more like SNES and Megadrive/Genesis when I was 5-8. There were always guidebooks before the Internet, though I only got one for FFVII and Alundra because of the disproportionate amount of content compared to... games that weren't RPGs. I actually emulated Pokémon before I bought it, but I only looked up the locations of the legendaries near the end. Anything else would've just spoiled it. It's so much more fun when you don't spoil it.

How does the spinner maze even classify as difficult? I cracked it in somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes, though granted I was about 11-12 at the time. (The years, where do they go?!) This is always going to be the best track in the OST though, along with Silph Co, the Gym Leader battle, and Rival's theme. (IMO).

The hideout in Celadon could be an IQ test. (The part with the spnny sliders.) Figure it out in five minutes at six years old, you're a genius (Like me.)
