  • All comments from 2 years ago are right on. Incredible music.

  • If I ever wake up in a crap mood or am going through a bad time ,then I play this song and feel SO much better-Thank you funk brothers

  • @mowestjohn Happy People by The Temptations is also a good mood song.

  • MMM MMM MMM YOUR COOKIN.....MMM MMM MM YOUR SMOKIN!

  • One of the greatest songs ever recorded.

  • I would love to tie up Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus etc. etc. and have them sit in Motown Studio A with all of these great instrumentals playing loudly in their ears. Then, see if they have enough &*#!* to go back into their studios and still put out product!

  • @jimmyfinlayson now that would be worth watching lol

  • @jimmyfinlayson They would fare better trying to get orange juice from a brick!!!

  • @jimmyfinlayson Amen to that

  • the funk brothers, our music teatchers for ever!!!

from France, where we love talented people.

  • It doesn't matter what you wear; just as long as you are there.

  • if I had a penny for every time I played this song, I'd be rich beyond my dreams.

I never tire of hearing this song.

  • thanks so much for this :D

  • good

  • omigod this is stunning! thanks for posting a masterpiece.

  • god this song plays all the fucking time at work i hate it now

  • superbe instrumental

  • In the book, Temples of Sound, authors Cogan & Clark state that the snare is doubled by "...a heavy bicycle chain whipped against a wooden board on the floor.."

  • that's awesome. i've always wondered how they got that sound

  • i heard the Snare is actually a t rash can lid!

  • @elbowout nope its actually ivy jo hunter smashing a crow bar

  • Thanx for posting - the classic Motown Anthem of the 60's hand down !!!

  • kepit once and felt like I was in church.

Most recordings of today can't hold a candle to this stuff.

  • This version (the original) is the best version of this song. Don't like the later versions (more current); sounds like something is missing.

  • Its that whole classic feel of the mini studio... like Phil Spectors wall of sound - ya can't recreate the SOUL

They had hand claps, 2x4's banging, chains clinking and the rest of it to get this unique sound - all covers fail and Martha's voice was DE BOMB!

  • Yeah Marvin Gaye did co write this gem why you think he added his region of the united states on it Baltimore & D.C. think about it, It makes too much sense ppl.

  • I loved how he wrote that:

"Baltimore and D.C. now!" That was a proud native of D.C.

  • Whoever...the whole arrangement is simply brilliant! The sound is unbelievable. Timeless and will be here 100 years from now when they describe "American Culture."

God blessed us all with their time here.

    "Thank you Funk Brothers"

  • They weren't even called the Funk Brothers back then. Berry hated the name. It wasn't a set group of people. And yes, Marvin Gaye is playing drums on this. I even heard him say this in an intervierw.

  • Youngblood, nobody uses Wikipedia to try to corroborate anything. Do you even understand what Wikipedia is? Too damn funny.

  • You didn't really use Wikipedia as your source did you? LOL

  • Marvin Gaye played drums on "Dancing in the St reet." Look it up.

You've made other erroneous comments about Motown records too. So you don't know all that much.

  • yes Marvin did co-write dancing in the street with Micky Stevenson and Ivy Hunter

  • Marvin Gaye co-wrote "Dancing in the Streets" and played drums on it. Listen to your elders. lol

  • Marvin Gaye plays drums on this cut.

  • Surely DID! I've ALWAYS loved His Drum Rolls just like all the other Motown Greats that it was done on! (smile) Marvin proved He could fit right IN! Thank you for acknowledging this!

  • Hey, this is my moment to shine...at 0.38 hear me

Sweet sweet, sweet sweet music, sweet music everywhere.....ooooo-oooo

    How did I do?

Fab fab fab ... it don't come any better than this for me.
