The problem with Summoning is their songs sound very similar. The songs are good, but listening to a whole album by them gets boring already after a few songs. Good that this song has a female vocalist to distinct it from the others.

Apart from that they want to create images of great fantasy landscapes through their music, and seeing two normal sweating mortal men on stage would just destroy all those images =)

Generally genres are based on the bands overall sound, and what comes to your mind when you hear them. Or better what..if you had to explain to someone what Summoning sounded like..would you really say Tolkien Metal?...Something like that could go from anything like power metal to folk/viking metal..to black metal..

@ChrononautDoom Yeah it wasn't me putting them off in a corner from what I thought their over all sound was...I just read that in a forum. But IMO the music in their later albums is "Tolkien" sounding, the music itself I mean. It could fit in any medieval movie though, as well.

@halo3x2 Summoning is often categorized as Black Metal because of their first album, which was pure BM.... Then the keyboard/symphonic elements have become more and more important... I think the only thing that is still BM in their music nowadays are the guitars (and the vocals, but not on this song). Maybe you could call what they're doing "post Black Metal".
