This is the first time they were in a TV show. The Chaos Emeralds were around since the very first Sonic game.

4:46 So yeah, I was talking about how the animation is not that bad compared to all the other episodes. They actually managed to pull of some dramatic lighting and electricity/glow effect in there as well! That splash looked good too! Plus the slapstick and action makes sense and is actually engaging! Just look at the antics that ensue from 6:55 ! Look at Sonic dodging that sword at 9:29 ! And Boy did they sure know to animate water! Sometimes, this episode looks anime-esque!

1:59 a litlle lol . Scratch comes back from Mobius' first Thanksgiving. Makes a little bit of sense if you look at Mobius as an analogous planet with similar histories. Kinda like how Kryshhks "Life Day" is to Earth's Christmas.

Usually when I see an episode of this series, it is usually animated in a similar manner to that Battletoads pilot. Weird, crudely drawn frames. Very choppy, non-fluid animation. And most scenes always being viewed at side angle from a far-away POV. The whole schlock usually reeks of laziness!

But this doesn't!

There are plenty of shots with different POVs from different angles and the animation is almost comparable to Animaniacs despite a little use of minimalism here and there.

You know, as in having more in between frames than usual?

I mean, I've always noticed how poorly animated this series is. It has some of the most dreadful animation and registry errors in animation history which only puts it one step above fray like Rocky & Bullwinkle.

AND Rocky & Bullwinkle itself is only a step above Clutch Cargo.

that was the biggest surprise i ever had in this cartoon series. i never expected in a millio nyears this cartoon would show chaos emeralds

also: the invincability chaos emerald is the most accurate in both shape and power

Interesting fact:

This (and the rest) of the Chaos Emerald episodes were animated by Tokyo Movie Shensha who later went on to animate (as well as create) the "Man of the Year" short from Sonic Jam and Sonic X. (As well as an additional AoStH "Super Robotnik"). They even did other cartoons, like Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs, and DuckTales.
