  • y dont ya all shut up its here now it might save houses aw stop big fires from spreding its a good thing that its here now

  • More fixed wing bombers would be more suitable.. $10M a season to run one of these..

  • The aircraft would likely only be able to land at avalon or tullamarine to refuel due to the runway length requirements. It cannot refuel from an open water source as it is not a float plane.

  • I live in woodend in the macedon rangers, this plane flew over my house today, everthing rattled and so i went outside, at first i couldnt make out if it were an airliner due to sun glare, but no dc-10 operate out of melbourne, this thing was at like 2000ft with a chopper following it! it banked left pretty sharply 30-40*, when it was gone the chopper and another plane where circling an area where i thought it droped water. ended up being a test drop. couldnt believe my eyes!

  • Great question mate. Helo's for my liking they can pinpoint drop better.

  • Will it be effective in the hilly parts of regional victoria though?

  • @Treffers0406 it it works fine. we had it down here couple years ago and all we have are hills in the back country.
