  • Churchill was the architect of the Italian campaign - he obviously hadn't learned much from Gallipoli! Opening up another front also went against sound military practice. Hitler did the same thing in Russia. By the way, the level of stupidity and bigotry displayed in some of the comments does nothing to honour the memories of the men who fought in this campaign. 55,000 allied casualties, 20,000 German casualties. The Anzio battle racked the total allied count up to 105,000.

  • Typical english historic drama - good heroic Germans and English and zero about Poles. Fucking english-nazi lies!

  • It was nice to hear the english and german soldiers talk about the battle, they are the true historians! – they wrote history.

I’m equally pleased it was a none “PC” version with that mandatory political agenda we’ve all become familiar with, first time I’ve ever come across such a documentary, this was like a breath of fresh air.

    Thank you.

  • Polish,English,Moroccans,Americans,Indians and soldiers of New Zealand and France against Deutsche paratroopers.Complete Allied air superiority, lots of artillery and limitless supplies and still they sucked. And all this when the bulk of the German army was fighting in the East...What a crappy coalition. My respect to the German paratroopers. May they rest in peace.

  • ive been to cassino and the abbey such a lovey place

the hight has to be seen to be belived

we will always have wars why dont ask me i could not tell you the answer

  • 2000 Poles died im that battle. Fuck this movie.

  • the Goumiers eventually fought against the Germans in Tunisia, Sicily, Corsica, Italy, France and Germany and quickly became known for their aggressiveness and ferocity and their particular skill in mountain warfare. In Italy, 12,000 strong, they swarmed over the forbidding Aurunci range (which no one thought could be penetrated by any sizable force) to spearhead the French Expeditionary Corps in

turning the German flank in Operation Diadem, the final drive on Rome.

  • @MarruecosMan

exactly at least someone who knows history, a member of my family died in this stupid war, and indeed les goumiers opened the road to roma, and liberated afterwards marseille, not a single street or memorial in marseille or elsewhere for their name, except a documenatry shown couple of years on the french channel 'HISTOIRE' financed totally by a general who can't believe they dont give them enough recognition,Cheers

  • @MarruecosMan thanks for nice and honest comment about my people

  • Typical western political white washing distancing anything polish, a de jure summary. Hardly any mention of the poles who de facto caused the paratroopers unsustainable losses while sustaining the same as other nationalities, quoting a para officer "the poles were different, they had something, verging on fanatacism".

French breakthrough in the valley? Post-war historical meddling, the valley was not prioritised for defense by the germans, only after withdrawal was there a french breakthrough.

  • thak you for this amazing footage[for my dad killed at monte casino[may44]

  • i wish i couldve joned the german paratroopers

  • god bless them all ..

  • A few rich guys on both sides got even richer is the part that burns me.

  • they were not the d day dodgers. The cemeteries are a testiment to their bravery. Well done for loading this.

  • You are looking for glory there was no glory in the war, only death and destruction. German glory You build monuments for this GLORY in Auschwitz, Gross Rossen, Dachau, Birkenau and many more..

Werner Eggert, German paratrooper from Monte Cassino said after the war:

war: today more than ever stupid, dirty, dreadful. And you are looking for glory..

    Same German will never learn..

  • truly great words.....

  • And read what Gen. Harold Alexander said about the german paratroopers.

  • german paratroopers already reppeled 3 big allied attacks when the poles start the attack. the german paratroopers were exhausted and many were wounded, and they were outnumbered. And its proved that the paratroopers left their positions because of the breaktrough of the french corps on the flank. monte cassino lost its strategic value and the 1. paratrooper division was in danger to get concluded. So there is no glory for the poles.

  • Anullu22

nazi propaganda created the myth about successful withdrawal and brilliant shortening of the front. german has been doing this withdrawal very successfully since Alemain, Stalingrad,Kursk, Normandy,Falaise etc.

Finally, they run out of real estate.

only beaten solders are leaving good defensive position.

Monte Cassino as any battles, was a success of common effort of all involved.Poles had the most fanatical opponnents and most dificult position to breach but they did it anyway

  • Anullu22

during the first attack 12 may poles took Snakehead Ridge and Hill 593. Than the hill 593 was retaken by germans.

17 may polish tanks discovered unmined passage between 593 and Snakehead. This made monastery untenable and German witdraw overnight from tha abbey but not from 593 and san Angelo.

this Points has been taken by Poles 18 of May-german has been forced to withdraw. In the same time in Liri valley British made a good progress closing the southern approach to monastery hill.

  • the polish helped the allied cause by fixing sinks and washing dishes for 1/4 of the price!

  • Very deep intellectual remark. Did you manage to finish primary school? Or did you have some problem to complite last few grades? may be you have to walk to school uphill so it was a very difficolt task for you?

  • i failed every subjected but i got an A in fucking yo mama class!!

  • Comment removed

  • Mahlzeit,

Of course the poles took it but when they took it the german paras were already gone. Not one polish soldier took a step in the german positions as long as the positions were held by the german paras.

  • Europe has no longer desire and strenght to take over the world. The olny think we can do,is protect our home in the future.Togheder.

  • It is time to forget and build new Europe together. But it is difficult to do so if so many German try to glorify Nazi regime

  • @goraltatra

How many are they? And where does your information stem from, prey?

  • Borat get life, or come to Poland might give u a job for a dollar a day so u could feed your asian family for a month.

  • @markzen582 NOT THE AMERIKANS OR THE BRITSCH OR POLNICH - WIN THIS BATTEL IN MONTECASSINO !!!!

THE ARABS FROM THE FRANCE ARMY WIN THIS BATTEL IN MONTECASINO - MY GRANDPA WAS IN THIS BATTEL

GOD BLLES ALE THIS SOLDERS THER ARE DAD

  • pipe down blowhard

  • @markzen582 - HE DRECKSPOLACKE KOMM ZU UNS NACH DEUTSCHLAND - WIR BARAUCHEN LEUTE DIE UNSERE DRECKSARBEIT MACHEN !!!

    DRECKSPOLACKE IHR DRECKSPACK !!!!!

  • @thezuke It is really inteligent comment, you faggot.

  • This is my last comment as it is imposible to change Donkey into Horse.fanatics are fanatics, does not matter if they are neonazi or Al Khaida. so follow your myth..poles stormed Abbey Hill on horseback with sabres drawn..

You won the IIWW. You are the best, unbeatable (but Poles won 17 wars from 26 against germany only by accident)It look like you will like to have anather go..but remember:You are responsible for all Nazi atrocites becose you willingly and voluntary foght for Hitler regime.

  • im back next weekend, I have next week and after next week a course.

  • oops!!! yesterday i wrote they attacked monastery directly ,thats wrong of course, but i corrected it.

What ever, polish corps wasnt able to take calvarian hill and collo. S angelo.

  • they took that hill and 569 on 17 of may

  • Oh noooo,

    Edward canceled his comments....

And edward i never said that poles attacked monastery, poles attacked calvarien hill (Hill 593) and Collo S Angelo. You can read it in our other discussion. When the paratroopers were gone on directly command of Kesselring because of the breaktrough of the allies at another point of the frontline, the poles stormed monastery, They captured it cause nobody was there. ;-)

  • except a few wounded soldiers

  • That a lot of bull..You have broadcasted that a few days ago and you are saying this again. Poles NEVER stormed abbey, their first objective was 593,569 and San Angello then Albannetta and Piedimonte (Hitler Line) When Paras hang white fllag from Abbey wall, the flag was spotted by Polish alt. officer and he stop the fire. For long time Poles did not bother to check asit was military unimportant.Than ltn Gurbiel ad 16 solders wentto investigate. Unless you are saying that this was the Polish storm

  • mmmh okey edward why are you trying to change the facts? The poles just attacked in the 4. battle, when german paratroopers already repelled 3 attacks and poles wasnt able to conquer a monastery which was hold by outnumbered, ill and wounded german paratroopers.

And edward you have no idea what youre talking about. Read a book about Monte Cassino and then come back.

You cant destroy the legend of the green devils.

Among others the poles build this legend with their incapacity too. ;-)

  • Poles never stormed monastery, their objective was Albanetta and Pedimonte San Germano (Hitler Line), not a monastery. So,Anullu22, do not talk nonsense

  • Okay Edward, now you're really embarrassing....

You're running out of arguments and because of that you start talking rubbish.

  • Anullu

Goebbels created legend and you are still leaving in the mist of his propaganda.

Apart from artillery fire the poles did not storm monastery hill. Show me one source telling otherwise.(Gurkhas did 18 of Febr).Polish attacked (1st brigade) on hills 593 , 569 and Albanneta outflanked Monastery from north East.

6th brigade attacked further east towards San Angelo. You are bending all facts to suit legend created bu 3rd Reich propaganda.Learn more facts before broadcasting nonsenses

  • And did you read what General Alexander said about the german paratroopers?

  • Yes of course you all know in what situation the german soldier was. I am sure if you had been a German soldier everything you'd done differently and and you would have rebelled.....

  • No,Annulu22. Most of the nations will not do that. No self respecting individuals will fight for such regime as Nazism.

  • edward why are you calling me a brainwashed nazi?

I just honor young german soldiers.

You cant change the facts of the battle of monte cassino. I hope you read what Gen. H. Alexander said about the german paratroopers....

And by the why: Do you hate germans?

  • I have many German friends hire in Australia. What I hate is a glorification of WWII German solders. They knew what regime they are fighting for and they done it willingly. Paratroopers were all fanatical volunteers straight from Hitlerjugend.

I have deep respect for all German solders that refused to fight. Haw tragic that most of them has been executed.

I do respect todays Germany but I hate what you have done during II WW.

  • Anullu 22

    fucking nazi

  • Paratroopers just retreat because the allies broke trough the flank at another point of the frontline.

    Polish loooooooooooosers.

  • By the way, Who won the War?? Not Germany anyway

  • Your ancestors were very breave during executions of p.o.p. in 1939. yeaah really breave...

By the way at the flank were ups Polish troops ;)

  • Ahm... no, at the flank were french divisions. Read a book dude.....

  • It is true that at the west side of Liri Valley the French Moroccans Goumiers did break through German Line. (ha,ha,the German Übermensch has been beaten by African Untermensch)

As the Poles are concern, after they took hill 593 and 569 in their 2nd attack, the abbey has been practically cut of and lost military value . Most of paras from abbey went south clearly into British captivity and the battle of Monte Cassino was over. Refer to the evening 17 of May con Kesselring -Vietinghoff

  • @2pepe22

Fuck you, piece of shit nazi!!! Now go fuck a pig you dirty scumbag, do it german style :D hahahaha

  • Anullu22,

there has been 26 armed conflict (wars) between Poland and Germany since AD 972.

Conclusions of this wars as below:

    17 x Polish Victories

    7 x German victories

    2 x Indecisive

I can send you a list in case if history lessens in Germany are incomplete.

So the Poles can proudly say,

    German you looooooooosers

  • Dude dont believe polish propaganda.

We talked about monte cassino, but now you change the subject because you realize that you can not longer glorify the incapacity of the polish corps at monte cassino.

  • Annul 22,you brainwashed Nazi

It is not a propaganda, It is a history which you twisting around to your liking. Some Germans has very short historical memory. Thanks God that most of the nation including yours top politicians are of different opinion than you,

In most of the war between Germany and Poland the Poles were victorious, Most famous is the destruction of the infamous Teutonic Order in series of war in 15th and 16th centaury.

  • @edward19011952

I would like that list. Just name of the war and year. I will compare the propagandas of our nations. It is really funny that all opponents on youtube speak of historical facts. The first thing I learned in history class at university, was: there are no facts. Of course at school, they tell different things, they call them facts and they make pupils around the world proud.

  • yeah but after the Germans where outnumbered after 10.000 fresh polish troups rushed in- I think poland played a very small role in it

  • Polish won Monte Cassino alone, they won the war against Germany! They did not need America, Britain or Russia. They flew British aircraft better than the British pilots. Polish won WW II ! The tragedy is: nobody else knows about that but the Poles!

  • The Poles were fortunate to achieve some sort of victory, or at least gain some pride.

  • very biased.

  • @silverbud What a load of bull shit. By the time the Poles arrived at Monte Cassino the Battle was in it's final stages. But either you forget about or don't know about the Kiwis (including the 28th Maori Battlion ) as well as the troops from the other Allied Countrys who had been there before the Poles and had beaten the snot out of the Germans to the point that when the Poles arrived the Germans were on their last legs. All the poles did was finish off the Battle. The Poles didn't win it alone

  • @anzacproud

Funny, dude. Did you really not see the irony in what I wrote? Poland won the WW II? :-D

  • Comment removed

  • I Polish and I am proud of that. POLAND STILL NOT WHEN MY perished We live! Glory poległym Poles, Americans, British and all other soldiers of other nationalities.

  • Polish attack our country and took part of our borders under Hitlers document from Munchen. Im glad that your foolishness, and hoggery was for the highest price for Poland a few months later after the breaking Czecholovakia into the pieces.

  • You re proud for fighting against outnumbered paratroopers which slaughtered the poles down.

The poles captured an empty monastery. HAHAHAHA. Looooooosers.

Long live the german green devils.

  • @dudek5555 Ku chwale ojczyzny! Cześć Ich Pamięci! For the Fatherland! Rest in Peace!!

  • hi friends, there have no any place for discussion about POLISH effort and victory in M,Cassino,is really strange how insignificant comments modern history (english, especially) made about...look only a cemitery, all the polish names and age:17,18,19 yrs old boys...oldest one was 32...freedom is really measured by white crosses,friends...my father was ther as 19yrs boy...

  • and the US soliders don't rape ?

  • Poland took the entire monte cassino without them who knows wat could have happened. long live Poland

  • So where were the Yanks, trotting off to Rome?

  • germans has got mutch more experience than the britishs

  • Quote :"losses was similar in scale to the battle of Stalingrad " The scale, the losses, the importance, nothing in this battle can be compared with the battle of Stalingrad This is a typical American documentary film. Allies troops are always glorified, and the sacrifice of the Red Army is always understated. I really don't know when the Americans and their blinded allies confess that the Red Army are the true heroes of WW2

  • Comment removed

  • Wow? Really? TRUE heroes?. Let me remind you, of something. russia and germany had signed a friendship pact during the invasion of Poland. russian and stalin-douche didn't give a crap about the outcome of the war, he just wanted Poland's territory and most of eastern europe.

  • Wow! American troops. They won the battle and took Rome. What a victory!

  • it was not just 1 they all was a team

  • What about Polish soldiers who made winning the Monte Cassino battle?

  • good film, but there is too little said about Polsih Soldiers. they had to fight with germans in 4th attack (Honker Operation, 11-19 May)previos 3 was stopped. they attecked in unhidden, mined terain, under heavy fire from german bunkers in order to surprise the enemy. 924 was killed,2930 wounded,345 missing. very often they had to fight hand-to-hand. sorry for my english

  • @aigel1916aigel Your right, way too little has been said about them, I mean only the Poles took mount and nobody else could, and it didn't say anything about the Polish flag above the Cassino.

  • @buildingeverything It did when I saw this on TV. Must have been cut out of this when he recorded it.

  • @aigel1916aigel No offense. But Poles made up about 4 percent of the entire force sent in, in the entire battle of monte cassino.

    So stfu you fucking polack.

  • And you are fucken dick and your nationality is waste for this world!!!

  • @LongliveSnak2e yeah of course what would anyone do without British, i mean you almost won the war without anyones help, so why even mention 50000 poles that were fighting there. God save the queen.

  • Polish man (silesia part of Poland) have to fight also german trups in monte cassino battle. Their family was the hostage.

  • Lomg live Poland
