Can anyone tell me how long it takes for all the Mantis eggs from one cacoon to hatch? I watched the mother lay her eggs this last fall. We have a mildly cold climate in the winter so it was just this past Sunday that one hatched. There were two dead ones. I'm worried that out of all she layed only one survived. Is it possible that it can take a few days for all to hatch?
It depends how long the pauses between laying the eggs were. If it took her a month to lay all the eggs, they will probably all hatch within a month after the first one. The last egg of ours hatched over three months after the first, because that's how long it took her to lay them.
But it can happen, that there's only one "living" egg. They carry the material for up to 10 eggs inside them from the beginning and if she's not fully pregnant, she just keeps laying the eggs to get rid of it
they are undercover extraterrestrials from the sirius star system and the orion belt. They have come to protect and monitor the selfish human species & protect mother earth.
they r like the coolest can you mail me a egg please/ ( im serious lol)
We gave all the new cocoons away, it was too much work (50-250 babies per egg, 5-8 eggs per mantis)
But the last ones of this breed are about to lay theirs soon. They are... a little small, only half the size of all others we had, but they are healthy and a lot more active then the others, so I think the infants should be fine.
Mailing them might be a problem though, I live in Switzerland.
