  • hello mr ANT at @6:20

  • LAWL this shits hilarious

  • That was brutal to watch, like an episode of "I shouldn't be alive". Next time, envision yourself being skinned alive by some cartel guerrillas for motivation, or just bring an a-frame and a come-along.

  • Maybe if you lifted with your legs....

  • notice the army of ants at the bottom of the screen

  • Well damn dude, a 390+ pound bike and what do you weigh 100 pounds?

  • lifting with your back to it, is that a recognised technique? I imagine i wouldnt be able to stop it and end up dropping it on its other side, doh! i unfortunately have had to lift my bike (around 180kg) and its much much heavier with your pride on top of it lol but slightly lighter without the levers and paint

  • LOL, I've never laughed so hard. Sorry we were all nobs at one point but it doesn't mean it isn't funny to watch. 1. Never ride off road alone. 2. if you bike falls with the tank downhill like yours did grab one end and spin it till you aren't trying to lift it uphill. 3. Never park the bike facing downhill like you did. I know you had it in gear but if it rolled forward you'd be back to square one.

If I were you I'd try to hook up with some local dual sport riders on adventure rider.com.

  • @advfilmer I "parked" the bike at that location unintentionally :P

  • @AtlasRider It happens and now you know better. Real dual sport riding is a never ending series of lessons learned either by watching or by living thru it. Sharing video just means your helping others sometimes at your own expense. :-)

  • What you did at 5:40 is the first thing I would have done.

  • You are picking it up wrong. You don't lift with your arms and back. You wedge your butt against the side of the seat and use your legs to propel your butt into the seat.

For some reason it won't let me include the link to the video, search for "How to pick up your motorcycle"

  • @hemiforever how many times have tried that on a non-cruiser, one fallen over on a down-slope no less? A cruiser on level ground is already at an angle. With a sports bike especially, but with a slope involved too, that technique doesn't work as well because in order to reach under the seat and the handlebar, your legs have to be completely compressed. And lifting with your legs when they are completely folded up is WAY harder; your leg muscles have little leverage over your knees.

  • @barrkel It's very easy. I had tried to include a video link showing a situation very similar to that bug youtube would not allow a link.

  • @hemiforever wedging with your butt against the side of the seat is a joke too; the side of the seat is sitting in the dirt, there's no way to "wedge" against it without first picking it up about half-way.

  • @barrkel If you watch the video, he has no problem whatsoever raiising the bike several inches, enough to wedge into it.

  • u should of put the guile theme song towards the end when you triumphed :] lol

  • Dropped my bike slightly once but I ride a gsxr 600 I was parked and a bee flew into my helmet

  • At 6:25 I was like, oh shit, he's going to keep pushing it and it's going to fall over the other way.

  • So you posted an 8 min video of you being a little girl because.......?

  • omg, a klr XD

    way to go schwarzenegger :P

  • Moral of the story- get yer skinny arse to the gym! lolz! Just kiddin bro- I know it's harder than it looks. Ride On!

  • this is the only reason im scared to get a klr and hit up trails. but off topic, did u have a mic near u or is your mic that good?? keep the vids up tho, ive been watching for a while and decided id see wat u posted before i subscribed.

  • @69techlover I justed used my point and shoot Pentax Optio W80 to record this with it's built in mic. Nothing special

  • Never ever give up!

    Congrats :-)

  • i hope its injected xD

  • You are way too calm, you have to use the stress of the moment (adrenaline) to lift it... if you ever get adrenaline lol... I know i'm much smaller than you and I woulda flipped that thing over in a heartbeat out of pure anger.

  • when lifting keep your back straight and assess the load if it is best to get help go ahead and do it i would hate to have back problems that keep me from riding

  • Wasn't it Atlas that said , "with a big enough lever I could lift the world" ?

I've been in that position myself. My back is hurting just watching!

  • Lol... Great job buddy. That shit prob seem like a lifetime getting that bike up.

  • how long did it actually take you to get it up??

  • Don't worry Atlas I'm not that strong either

  • Should have taken the luggage off.

  • damn.. I didn't knew it THIS Hard to Stand up a fallen bike xD

  • 6:19 yay!

    XD

dude your bike is really that heavy?

i dont have a bike so i dont know XD

  • get down the gym mate !

  • When you finally got it up I thought for sure it was going over the other way with you on top of it.

  • there wasn`t rly much damage... till you tried picking it up :)

  • Dang how heavy is that bike? 500 pounds or something? I dont drive motor bike I can only drive cars :P but I never imagine a bike would be that heavy!

  • BY THE WAY ... NEVER HIT THE BIKE :( ITS NOT ITS FOULT ... :(

  • mate at 4:40 u almost got it ... when u trying to get it up whit hands always stay up and bend over to reach it dont stay down cuz u never get up whit it , but from what i see here u ground on the left side on what side the bike fall is lower ... so turn the bike 180 ... but its and enduro this should be ligher then a naked or sport .... why so dificult geting it up ... and always brake a wheel when trying out first methond , the one u push whit back

  • go litle ants go, nice way of putting it up, you are pretty skinny

  • @coke lmao :D

  • damn man

  • Dang!!! No offense, you're one tiny dude. I guess you get better fuel mileage that way huh?

  • I'm glad your efforts finally paid off. I also understand that you were frustrated and the bike was in a bad position to pick it up from I have been in the same situation. But I've always been told that if you can't pick up your bike from off the ground after laying it down then it is probably too big for you to be riding it.

  • You certainly have balls for posting this hilarious video of you struggling to un-dump your bike. Note to self... Don't dump bike & make sure you ride with a friend.

Btw... Good luck riding to S. America. Be safe & keep your head on a swivel. Have fun, God bless & God speed.

  • Fair effort mate - I don't think the video conveys how heavy that bike is, nor the steepness of the slope. Personally I would have done what most bikers from the UK would do......grab wallet and head for the nearest pub, lol.

  • Just gotta squat, grit your teeth and lift with your legs; you seemed to be trying with your back, gonna hurt yourself.

  • haha interesting vid bro, glad you got it sorted in the end

  • sucks

  • man i can pick that up you should try to pick up my bike if you can pick up a drit bike my harly be just to big for you but my girl can pick it up my be you should get a moped or 50cc scooter if a dirt bike is to much

  • How much do you weigh, mate? That Bike can't weigh more than 400ibs? Sorry if i come off as condescending, I'm a kinda big guy...

  • LOL you fail you nearly had it the first time lifting it forward on! Just keep trying and then stick your knees under! xD

  • The entire time watching this I was all thinking "JUST LET ME HELP YOU!"

  • you should try steroids

  • your really petite >_>

  • Hmm.. situation like this.. dont try to pick up the bike all the way. Too heavy. Instead, lift it -just- enough for the wheels to touch, and then push -forwards- while turning the handlebars as much as you can.. get it to roll downhill some, and while rolling down hill, push against it to hopefully get it to lean back up onto it's wheels. About all you could really do in that case without say.. a long enough log for leverage. Or a winch and a big tree.

  • @MonolithTyriss Muscles could work too.. haha. not raggin on atlas though, he could lift some weights though.

  • hit the gym brah

  • I was distracted by all the ants running around. They looked much bigger up close to the camera lens.

  • I surely enjoy all of your videos Atlas and this one was my laugh for the day :-) I know you were frustrated, but thanks for sharing with us. We've all been in that moment alone trying to figure out how to correct something that seems so difficult. 5 stars for sure my friend.

  • im skinnier than him... its really quite tough. I had some bloke come and do it for me, it was rather embarrasing

  • dude there is ants heading for the camera at 3.45 pick it up.. im wearing 3d glasses fast before the ants eat me alive.. feck

  • I Bet That Bike Was Flooded Like a Bitch Lol

  • Here's an example of one of those occasions where brawn is more valuable then brains.

  • The part at 4:38 was funny....lol

  • バイク涙目wwww

  • Oh man, that was funny. I just had a very similar experience but mine required spending the night. You are more tolerant than I am that's for sure! Really sorry you had to go through that but great video.

  • Even on the incline you were very close to righting it.

    Congrats on getting her up!

  • Haha, awesome.. Good time to start doing some deadlifts huh.

  • lmfaoooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • That was fcking Hilarious!!! Great video! I just subscribed!

  • This vid was great! I was empathizing and laughing the entire time (been there done that). Dry weight on my bike is 750 pounds + cargo, fuel, and oil. I once was so tired after a long ride that i literally forgot to put down my side stand, and just stepped off the bike. Even on dry pavement it is a job to get her back on her feet.

  • Hah, interesting video of your struggle. ^^

  • on a serious note its a very good thing you were not even a little injured didnt look like too many people out there to help and those ants looked hungry..... btw previous comment was incredible hulk ref

  • MR MCGEE DONT MAKE ME ANGERY YOU WOULDNT LIKE ME WHEN IM ANGRY....heheheh :-) i feel for you was that 5.5gal tank full thats like 50lbs extra

  • Why do they feel 10 times heavier to lift of the ground ? And Light as hell to hold the thing up ???

  • but u know... we also commit a error always .. too much bags .. when we go "offroad or "sport" ride" we should really have ligth weith "bags" coz this things can happen also that the front wheel slide like a hell ..

when i went back to barcelona (im brazilian but i feel im from all word so i have no flags! )

a snow storm cach me up a peak .. and it was a quit hell too .. f&%·" inginition freezed and locked .. the starter was not working .. i cant wait to change this crap of versys for a xr650r

  • @thytum im going from caracas to rio de janeiro at the end of these month on a 09 KLR im going 4 da carnivals, tell me man why dont you like the versys?

  • ups .. i answer in

    SuperUnknownMC stuff

  • Damn good video

  • damn man that sucks! glad to see you got it up! good thing it wasnt your ninja!!!

  • my fav part is when you started kicking your own stuff. lol dud i have been there, it's not fun at all.

  • へたれすぎる・・・

  • Ask any real biker and every one will all have a story like this. I was laughing a little throughout cuz Im about your size, maybe even a little lankier, and i've had more than one experience like this, granted not on an incline or with that heavy a bike but still.

  • this reminds me of that documentary about that guy who lives in the woods by himself

  • I think why I like this video is a alltarain street legal bike is laying on its side in open barren ground

  • It was obvious that you could have picked it up no problem if it were laying 90 degrees flat instead of 120 degrees, tilted downwards.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm glad to break the sterotypical "biker mold" anyways. I never cared for it much in the first place.

  • sounds good

  • @AtlasRider Yeah the stereotypical "biker mold" is what people think of when they see Harley (Hardley) riders. Fat, lazy people on a loud, slow, ugly, chromed out monstrosity of a turd and cruise from bar to bar and bike show to bike show. They posses no real riding skills and laugh at people to wear riding gear. No matter how long they've been riding they are still considered squids. Glad you got the bike back upright though. Sucks you dropped it, but good video.

  • @AtlasRider I must applaud you on how well you respond to negative comments. Nicely done. Add to that your willingness to share your successes & failures with us equally and it can truly be said that you are a class act.

On a humorous note, the jerk who said you give "real bikers a bad name" accomplished this gem shortly after ... watch video IY-YVbSEIms

  • @AtlasRider

That was good! That pea-brain that you were responding to has a burr in his butt. It's those kinds of bikers that give bikers a bad name,LOL!

Besides, I'll take brains over brawn any day.

  • what's a real biker and who makes the rules? !! Perhaps i've not been one after all and not realized.......just so as I know !

  • Ok maybe i was a little harsh . BUT given the type of riding the op was doing surley comon sence would dictate that you can pick up yer own bike. Or have the common sence to empty the panniers . Some may find it funny but all he has done is make him self look a fool . The Klr weighs 360 Lbs which is not that bad to lift . It was just the dum ass way he went about it .

  • BMW do a very good off road course where the technique of picking a bike up is gone thro'. Im a 6'2'' weed and find picking a bike up a panic situation, and reason almost immediately leaves the field!!! Your right , knowing the way to pick a bike up is essential , but I did identify with his predicament, and he is sharing some great adventures with us!

  • Butcher pencil? Some gayass slang that few use in northern England and nobody uses elsewhere.

  • Did you have to google that ? Twat . Well i am not northern or English .

  • Then quit pretending that you are.

  • Who the fuck is pretending ? Do you think that comment is soley in northern england.. And comming from an american how the fuck would you know ? Dont tell me wikapedia? lol

When you know what the fuck yer talking about then maybe reply .

  • Learn how to spell and then maybe I'll spend time on you.

  • Great a prick and a grammar nazi

  • Great, a loser who doesn't have enough things going on in life to not justify spending all his time on here starting arguments.

  • All my time on here? What a post every 2-3 days . No im out riding my bike and not falling off it then looking like a retard by posting stupid vids on Youtube about how weak and stupid i am .

  • You meant it like this:

"All my time on here? What a post every 2-3 minutes . No im on reading Youtube and not logging off it then looking like a retard by posting stupid comments about how lifeless and alone i am . "

  • Terrific video and brave to share! I felt every minute of it ! It makes you feel really alone.......of course I never dropped my trailies!!!!!

You are dead right about lightness, but you also need some solidity for this type of riding.

  • lol, some of those ideas were just horrible, hahahah!!!

  • comedy genius and WTF was that screw thingy lol

  • Great Vid Atlas , just curious though. What were those things that were crawling all over the ground ?

  • Fire ants.

  • @AtlasRider LOL

  • sweet vid atlas... classic..

  • Nice vid as usual Atlas!

The first thing I noticed was the beautiful recording quality! What camera were you using?

  • That really sucks but very entertaining.

  • Great post! I'll have to send it to my honey. He has a KLR, too! Thanks for sharing your experience!

  • Thank you so much for sharing Atlas. Beside being very funny, it was very informative. I will remember what you did in case I ever drop my KLR downhill.

  • how much does does you bike weigh

  • dude you need to eat more...put on a few LBS

  • Been there done that! My DR650 is a bit lighter, but the downhill slope and the height of modern dirtbikes really works against picking them up. I was sore for days after a similar experience.

  • This was great Atlas, Im reading Lois on the Loose now, this gives it so much more scale ;-)

  • One thing I've learned is that while you pretty much had the right form, leaving your butt against the seat (rather than letting it get nearer your knees) allows you to use the greater power of your legs to lift it. I've been in a similar situation myself, sucks, alot. I ended up pulling several muscles in my right shoulder in the process too.

  • This video looks like a commercial. Very nice.

  • Damn my back hurts just watching you! Thanks for posting this it was educational.

  • really entertaining indeed :D

  • A very humbling video. It was instructional too. I think taking the weight from the saddlebags helped much too. Hope that was the worse of your trip! I disagree with you on this not being informative. You used the correct body mechanics and will probably help some one who watched this, in the future.

  • Another good use is for camping. Screw tents; when Im out I just take a camo tarp and some cord and string up a small shelter over a foxhole I dig filled with soft stuff. Then you just rig up a small fighting fire and youre set :)

  • Carry some 550 paracord, that stuff is amazing. I got a deployment/battle buddy bracelet (commercially named "survival bracelets") from a friend and then I got hooked on making them myself for my fellow USNSCC cadets. I'm always wearing one. Rig the cord around the bike and then around a leverage point and bam, you've taken off about half the weight of that thing.

  • Even though you say this video was not meant to be informative, it was actually a pretty good tutorial. I've been in that situation many times back in my dirt riding days. Unless the bike is a very light one, or you happen to be brutishly strong, trying to lift the thing uphill is not a great idea. Like I'm telling you anything!

    Great vid! :)

  • good job the bike is 3 to 4 times heavier then u are

  • Atlas man you needed some incentive....when I lowsided last year I got my bike up in like 5 seconds but I had cars waiting for me.... Maybe you needed a big snake or something.

  • Oh man at 4:30 I thought you had it. That must have sucked! Glad you got it back up and didn't get eaten by wolves!

  • Die KLR Die....LOL. Was afraid the bike was going over the other way once you got it upright...nice of you to share this.

  • I feel your pain Atlas. Been there done that. Swinging it down hill was the only answer for us skinny guys.

I'm as skinny as two of you put together! :)

  • Brilliantly funny vid, although I feel bad for laughing!

How did the rest of this trail go? Did you record more along this trip?

  • I did, but not much. More on that later.

  • I know this was not any fun for you at the time, but the video is hilarious.

    ride safe,

    rc62

  • it was a good vid, but i feel so bad for you =(. can you make a video where you inspect the damage, id like to see all the scratches and dents.

  • Not many scratches that weren't there already.

  • Hey atlas I have a honda xr650L (dual sport like your) These bikes are so awesome but the down side is their weight. They weigh 3 times as much as a regular dirt bike but are also 3 times more dependable. haha, I think I will do a video on how to pic up a downed bike. Nice Vids too.

  • Dude! You had me cracking up! Great VID...

  • dude i hade to lift my 600 pound bike im sure you could have lifted this

  • Awesome effort, Atlas! Glad to see you never gave up hope lol

This is one of the reasons why I'm lifting weights now, so I won't have such difficulty picking up a downed bike later :-)

  • im sorry dude but this was pretty funny to watch lol

was there any major damage on the bike?

  • have to agree. that was pretty humorous. felt bad for him cuz he's so small.

  • Just some scratches, nothing major

  • Gotta love your sense of humor :)

  • Oh man, that looked like a pain.

  • Dang atlas, you need to hit the gym. You are beyond skinny.

  • Yea yea, always been, always will be.

  • You know what I learned from this video? I learned that my ass better start working out so I can lift my bike when I get one, if I ever drop it.

  • Why I ride smaller bikes...but great job, Atlas!

    Keep riding!

  • That is a heavy, steep and quick way to learn what to do in certain situations.

  • A common misconception is that Atlas was forced to hold the Earth on his shoulders, but this is incorrect. Zeus punished Atlas by having Atlas's KLR fall over on a decline at a time when Atlas was riding on an isolated trail covered in thorny weeds.

  • LOL

  • It was fun to watch and see technique which you used. Thanks for sharing :-)

  • that klr is atleast 400lbs plus the bags and you are not exactly well built so i can see the frustration, it was fun watching but i am sure it wasnt fun going tru it =)

  • U made my day!! Hehehe! Everyone is doing wierd things, when they are hopeless. =-)

  • I'm sure you'll get a lot of folkes telling what you're doing wrong, and it will drive you nuts. BUT. I would probably have dragged the front wheel away from the camera so it's facing downfill then picked her up.

Or at least removed the luggage....

But then I'm not sure how each that would be. I don't doubt it wasn't fun. An UNLOADED 450cc KTM is heavy and tiring. So this must have sucked ass.

  • oh lol, you did (learn to watch the whole video Sven!)

But then I don't care much about how much my ktm gets beat up (to a point) so....

but if you're riding roads like that there should be a certain expectation of dings.

  • Yea watch the whole vid! :P

This was my first time. Wanted to exhaust all other options before dragging her around. I'm not too concerned about scratches or dings.

  • you need some roids

  • Wow, how heavy is the KLR?

  • About 500 pounds with gas an gear.

  • Glad not to be in your shoes during that event, but I did have to chuckle a couple of times at your comments.

Great thing that you have a bike that is meant to be beat around a good bit. Did you have any trouble getting her to refire after you got her back up?

  • No problems firing her back up.

  • Wow that is insane. Look wayyyyyy heavy, but good technique. :P

Love the notes at the top, very funny (:

    Great lesson though.

  • Haha good job man. My weak ass couldn't have done that.

  • HAHA, looked rly heavy man. I struggle picking up my bike when i go offroading and it's only a 250. :D
