Less than 2000 hits? Should be 2000000000000. People listen to some right shit. JM was a real musician with a style all of his own.This is magical.Always makes my spine tingle! Thanks JM :)
@W3 - if you do decide to get into JM you have a lot of treats ahead of you but, be warned, a lot of chaff too. Everybody rates Solid Air, which IS great, but other favourites of mine are his early album with wife Beverley, Road To Ruin, and there are some gems late in his career, eg the trip-hop influenced album, "And". I first discovered him on the Whistle Test in the early Seventies, so the vids might be a good starting point. Live he could be hit and miss but when he was good he was GREAT.
It may have been me who requested it, I was certainly looking for it. I also have an old copy, now transferred to disc but buried in my collection somewhere. This is an amazing version of a great song, much better than the slightly MOR original in my opinion. When you hear the casual brilliance of the sounds he gets from his guitar, it's heartbreaking to think he's gone.
GOOSEBUMPS - Sweet jesus - I'm 34 and I have only discovered John Martyn - Better late then never...... When he eases into When the hurt in your heart has gone - Oh Lordy Lord. Magnificent stuff.
@mart3442 Aye, the key change -from F maj to C maj I think. As I may have mentioned before when I heard the audio of this- who would have thought HIYHeart could be played to this tempo? and still be f**g amazing? Not me. The morph -the key change is really effective on this. & when you watch this..there was only one John eh?, thats for bloody sure. -Ian
@JesseMathews LEE PERRY or COCAINE dealer. LEE PERRYS legendary womanising Ive heard was one inspiration for BIG MUFF. The other Ive heard was alledgedly about a COKE dealer who used to live in a flat above JM! Whatever this is amazing! :)
Brilliant, loved the audio, but this is too good to be true. A rarity for sure. Not sure -but the bass player may be Alan Thomson. Thanks for this upload muchly.

@JesseMathews
As a teen growing up in the UK, we were always under the impression that it was about smack, but that was via hearsay.

@steelyman08 It was alleged that it was about Lee Perrys antics? Another story alleges it was about a coke dealer who lived upstairs from JM
