  • she is sweet and yeah its kind of stange how whe shake our heads, but we are strange people, thats why we are amazing!!! ^^

  • Hilary is hot and I don't think she said anything wrong at all. Greetings from Bulgaria!

  • Because we do it ^ ^ We shake it up and down for no and left and right for yes. This is from when we were under ottoman upreshion ^ ^

    Просто сигурно не си забелязал/а. Огледай се и ще видиш,че е така ^ ^

  • I don't get it...I'm from bulgaria...Am I wrong? I shake my head up and down for yes and sideways for no. But why do both Hillary and Nina think that?

  • Who the fuck is Hilary Duff?

  • It is still better than Scarlett Johanson's shitty comments

  • @KrionStudio

Scarlett Johanson go NOWHERE in Bulgaria if you hear what she said..she said about bloodly food wich mean she never tried bulgarian food..she talk about donkey or something like that wich mean she not go nowhere..She is ''Scarlett Johanson'', right?? Why she not go in Sunny Beach, Cacao Beach, Nessebar and ect. and ect.? Because she know what will happen there..will shine her eyes cause the beauty of those places (as many other there)and will not have what bad to say in interview..

  • пхаха :Д

  • In this interview, so you say that Bulgaria is another planet

  • I feel awesome when we bulgarians are called "These people" .

  • Fuck that fag go suck a dick bulgaria rocks and bulgaria is a far better country that this piece of shit you call america

  • @101Adrean well many ppl will argue with you here

  • Greeks also shake their heads that way XD

Da means no and Ne means yes to them XD

  • wat no we dont we shake our heads up when we mean Yes and when we mean No we shake our heads left and Right but yea we have the most precious nature cuz we let it grow in any way that nature wants so deal with it

  • LOL, you know the 'in soviet russia' jokes?

well I guess it be more suitable to use 'in bulgaria' LOL, 'cause things really opposite there apparently :))

  • Man, I spent last summer in the US and the head-shaking thing led to a LOT of awkwardness :D When I finally got used to it, It was time to go back home and I was messed up again :D

  • @SeeeeeeeeeeX LOL, that's gotta suck; funny story:) and interesting user name very subtle (not) LOL

    Greetings neighbor :)

  • In Bulgaria, no means yes.

  • @japimportssuck dude dont say things that you absolutetly dont know No means No Не Yes means Yes Да so try to get our language and then say stuff to make people thing akward things

  • @bulgarianBG97 i was just kidden.

  • @japimportssuck here on the Balkans you have not right to kidding for country :) :D

  • @japimportssuck but if you want you can be racist :D

  • WRONG! You are the ones shaking your head in the wrong ways. We, Bulgarians, are right.

  • da vzeme da se grumne li :D

  • @koisumaz2000 освен да вземеш да се скриеш!!!

  • I have spent half my life in Bulgaria, half in England, there is nothing more confusing to me than the shaking of the head thing. I speak bulgarian english and japanese, can drive without thinking on both wheel drives - the head shaking thing I cannot figure out - ever. Anywhere I go in the world when someone responds with a head signal I have to ask him - "Was that a yes?"

  • @teredaqwerty i guess you have to see the overall face expresion to figure it out.

  • @dold1tflkin Not allways easy, usually they are expecting a responce from you, and are also trying to read you and what exactly you don't understand.

  • @teredaqwerty LOL, good story;

  • Comment removed

  • @matcaboy на едно цигънче му казали, че е виртуоз(свирело на цигулка) и то отговорило - Ти да не мислиш че си много хубав?

  • stupid bitch

  • @BulgariaSucks, Rat, say where are you from? Why are you hiding it? Are you ashamed of something?

  • мн се зарадвах като разбрах, че ще снимат филма в България. И това за "да" и "не" е вярно, но нека сме по-различни от останалите : ))

  • hayde sicki na kampanqta fuck BG :D

  • She is soooo cute :) I love her !

  • Anyway it is fun _about yes and no :)

  • that's not true...

  • the "yes" and "no" thing it's true, but you won't notice it if you haven't been to another country. i remember how weird it was for my whole family when we went back home to bulgaria, and everyone were shaking their heads in the opposite way :D

  • @MileyCyris Haha, it always happens to me and my family too when we go back to Bulgaria! Its so confusing!

  • The thing about "yes" and "no" - not true

  • @DesSsito0o i'm sorry but it is true.

  • @DesSsito0o Yes it is true :P

  • what movie did she film in bulgaria???

  • Забавен е клипа!! Мерси :)

  • @dgdbg It's probably better that swine never got to be an attorney. Going out with your 16 friends and beating up people is not a respectable thing to do. It doesnt matter what university you are enrolled in. If you're the scum of the earth, attack people with concrete blocks and get stabbed, you kinda deserve it. The biggest problem in Bulgaria I think is that there's too many people who are not even interested to hear both sides of the story. Attacked by 16 ppl and u stab someone in the back??

  • @dgdbg He would probably be set free if he was given a free trail. It's hard to believe Bulgaria can have such a shit corrupt justice system. A trail is expected to present both sides of the story. CCTV footage of the group of Bulgarians attacking the gypsies was lost (hard to believe) and no evidence was admitted from any of the Australian guy's friend's who where there. On top of all that the fine he was given when a fine of about $375000 AU. It's so out of whack with average salaries...

  • Bulgaria doesnt rock... they have a corrupt government and justice system - look at the jack palfreman case - total bullshit

  • @v306 Are you talking about that Australian who stabbed and murdered a future attorney and stabbed his friend in the back? Do you expect him to be set free?

  • @v306 chill, man. get a hobby, jesus!!!

  • bulgaria and Hilari Rocks :))

  • Iam bulgarian and i think that she didn's say anything bad for BG. I porsonaly dont shake head when i said YES ot NO. The strange is that she think that we know her less that in america. Thats not true, i think 80% of bulgarians (i didnt talk for the old people and little childs) know her or heard about her. I write in english cuz i want other people understand what iam saying. I like her very much. She is so cute, so beautiful...

  • @todiros95 She isn`t so popular here. Only 1 or 2 songs were hits for some weeks ;)

  • @niki89m Not only song, she has great films. I thinks that the people know her like actress not like singer, but i didnt say that her music isnt good....

  • Bravo Hilary ;)!!!

    You are the best {{{}}}

  • I'm from Bulgaria, and I think Hilary's wrong,we shake our heads the right way,the rest of the world shakes their heads the wrong way :D,that aside I like Hillary very much.

  • @nasko8766 good one *high fife* anyone ,anyone

  • hahahaha ''so far away''.,''did they know you''., if she traveled back in time to a barbaric country, hahaha

  • cool:)) Hilary Duff is so cute and her music album was cool too:)))

Ilike that she traveled all the way to Bulgaria, hope she had a nice time!:))

  • leave, hilarry , alone! leave her alone , im serious!!!

  • Bulshit.

  • Who the fuck is Hilary Duff? Why the fuck am i watchin this?

  • @92healtheworld damn right but dude write in English to understand u the other people ! Аз те разбирам но те не а изказаното е много вярно

  • pff da te eba v zvezdata

  • "Did the bulgarians know u?"

"They did, and i don't think they would"

u serious ?! what are the bulgarians .. some animals left in the middel of nowhere ?!

  • @TheOnesWeLoveTheMost

That's the typical reaction that most people have. All she's saying is that she wasn't sure that other countries follow American pop culture. What if she expected them to know her and they didn't? Then you would say she is an ego maniac.

  • ebati pachata :D xhuahx

  • she has an annoying voice.

  • aww she's so cute

and she's right, we really do that kind of thing with our heads

    sorry, hillary ^^

  • Bulgariaaaaaaaaaaa!!

  • govori za bulgaria ebasi qkoto... tukmo si misleh 4e sme tretiq svqt i nikoi ne ni znae :D :D

  • stupid americans ... the dumbest nation in the world and they still think they are something that we havent seen :D dumb bitches България над всичко !

  • We do that for joking with western countries ;-)) Attention guys if hilary duff comes to you and ask you to buy her a drink say yes dont shake your head :DD

  • because your from bulgaria right :d

  • @sandra1991ization haha your big shit haha and very stupid of course haha

  • @sandra1991ization stupid YOU!!!

  • @sandra1991ization it seems you are the stupid one :X

  • Well, it confuses me also. Some Bulgarians nod their heads to say "yes" and some nod their heads to say "no", the first because of western influence. I personally do both, both by instinct.

  • what movie did they shoot here?

  • hihi she is cute :) cheers from Bg :))

  • Hahah Damn it`s true :) But if you ask me In english, I nod or shake my hand the american way :) If you ask me the same question in bulgarian, I`ll nod my head to say no , and shake to say yes :D

  • haha shes so sweet

  • cheers from Bulgaria :D

  • I am a bulgarian and that thing with the shaking head its actually true but to understand why is that i have to tell you face to face so you can understand me i just cant find the words when im typing LMAO ;D

  • haha, yeah that's one thing that shocks the foreigners in BG

I've heard it many times. Many funny stories about it.

It's funny that even if u say loudly YES but move ur head the other way around, ppl still get confused haha.

  • well maybe they tried to child dscarfcoe me when i was 7 8 ect but then put me in the paedophlic gay sexula abseurs cult but of corse as an experiment as thats what grown ups do sint it ,and eys their are many chidlrne whom tlake part in this practcie of niggers and honkeys.teenagers ect,all about the majic wasnt it .eys her mummy my ex wife poor woman she was doen ti to my duaghter with soem nigegrs at hoem fo the 2012 olipick games, nearky got her now i ahvent seen her since 2001.threats queen

  • what?!?

  • kak da ne e true be :D:D:D

  • @plamendylgiq the head shaking is not exactly true... bulgarian shake their head up and down to say NO, but to say YES (contrary to what most people think) we dont shake it from left to right. we shake it describing a cirle . or to explain it other way we incline the head towards the sholders.

  • Actually,it is :)

  • @shahit no it is not. its true that we say NO the way americans say yes this is basicly 50% true

  • @adi4ka22

    it's super true

  • @sowrongitsright05 super trues is 100% true and its only 50% true because we say NO the way tey say YES. but we dont say yes the way thes say no

  • @lachootbg az sum bulgarski, tupak. all my relatives shake their heads slowly when they say (example) "da, taka e" and "tsk, nemo6e" while flicking their chins up they say no

TAPAK

  • @lachootbg eeeeee yash moito hui tup prostak, znaiash kolkoto moito baba

  • @lachootbg

i live abroad but i have to disagree with what others are saying.

at least from where i am from (Sofia). we do shake our heads (fast) from left to right (same way as westerners do for Yes). but this is only done when replying to something that doesnt require much thought. If we say we understand we do shake our head up and down (same as other countries). I can't say I've seen the "circle" shaking towards your shoulders. That is more of an Indian (east) thing and not Bulgarian.

  • i am from bulgaria ! I love Hilary Duff .....

  • We all should play for her that song "stupid girl" by Garbage. Very adecuate for her, because she's stupid and she's garbage. Her music sucks and she's also a terrible actress. You should retire now, darling, go home, and talk to yourself while looking to the mirror.

  • Dano pak da doide :)

  • Tell me what my sources are? Tell me, One small thing ( the 5-6 lines about moesia and vlachgia) only one thing i have taken from the wikipedia and it was the analysis of one of the graetest bulgarian historians, go and learn who zlatarski is dumbass!!!!!

  • Are you trying to prove me wrong by exposing me that i have red something somewhere and that you found that?hahah this is just not serious;)

Besides, in contrast to you i am careful who i quote. I bet you haven't paid attention to the fact that the part of the Wikipedia article about Moesians and Vlachs bases on Vasil Zlatarski's study of the problem about the origin of Asen&Peter. Now,Zlatarski, Bogdan Filov, Peter Mutafchiev and others are amont the best pre-communist BG historians.

  • ....look I've done that in the first year of my studies. You go to wikipedia, find an article, find where the quotes are taken from and use the sources as yours. Plus ALL the historians you've mentioned are Bulgarian and quite nationalistic as well, being pre-communist doesn't necessarily make them objective, for nationalism was the dominant ideology at that time.

  • Medieval history is not my field of interest, i am rather interested in ancient history of the bulgars. But your attemts to "expose" the bulgarian nationalism lead you to stupidity, that is why i took the time to explain you why this what you have written is just rubbish.

Nowadays you can prove everything you want, trust me, if you want you can prove that Germans are jews.

  • ... so if i have to listen to you, i should not try to prove something is wrong just because I don't like it? you were the one talking about the truth, if your so stuck up to not be able to appreciate a different point of view other than yours, why even mentioning 'truth'? i dont think im gonna bother with engaging into more arguments with you. i'm sorry but you cant even prove me wrong.

  • Since you are doing a dissertation you are obliged to take into account everything and not the point of view of the one side only. In your case you haven't just take a side but you 've taken the unpopular side. WHY? because you are not a nationalist ? Quite pathetic argument! Trueth has nothing to do with nationalism and pleaee stop trying to prove unprovable things.

  • ...don't worry about my dissertation, i can have any point of view that id like, as long as i can support it. which obviously i can, with sources other than wikipedia(in which btw you, I and every single person in this world could write, regardless of their education or legitimacy as a source)

  • Byzantian historians weren't precise in the ethical belonging of many people. Do you know for instance that the greek historians Ioan Malala regarded Bulgars as Mirmidonians ( The Warriors Of Achiles from Homer's Iliada), because bulgars attacked Byzanz from small Scythia- today's Dobrudja - something which is quite flattering but also very wrong.

The generally accepted view is that Asen, Peter and Kaloyan are bulgarians . And this has nothing to do with nationalism. Truth must be defended!!

  • Firstly, please don't use expressions like " rather old key study", because no research on the whole planet has ever confirmed that Asen, Peter and Kaloyan are Vlachs.

Indeed, this byzantian historian Niketes Choniates did exist and wrote somewhere that they were Bolochos( Nowaday Walachos or Vlachs). But you have to know that byzantian historians did name people after the places they came from and not necessarily after their ethnical belonging.

  • Besides, as one easily convinces himself from the great amount of nonsense-comments of yours, you have not less time then me to waste in youtube :)

    P.S: nazdr4awe i vnimawai da ne se zadawi6 s biri4kata ti.

  • Indeed I do and it's definitely not something I am ashamed of, for this is my job. Second, with the rise of the Greeks in 1831 and their independence, the West became a bit more interested in who are the Christians within the borders of the Ottoman Empire. And divided them into 2 basic groups...

  • ..Greeks and Slavs. Yes you are indeed right that Slavic is a language group, but Slavic Culture and the Language we speak has been defining us for quite a while. There is nothing left from the Proto-Bulgarian culture, language and traditions, if that is missing how can you claim an accurate existing relationship between them and modern Bulgarians? And trust me Wikipedia is not a useful source, using it you are doing exactly what the nationalists of FYROM are doing.

  • Using inaccurate sources to 'prove' their point of view. Look I am not undermining Bulgarian nation, what I am saying is that there is no point in remembering the past and reinforcing nationalistic ideas onto the Bulgarian population. We have to stop looking at the past and continue with the future. And please don't start accusing me of communistic brainwashing, for I don't think you will ever find someone who is more anti-communist than me. Bulgarians are a part of the European Union...

  • I don't have my knowledge from Wikipedia, are you crazy. But sometimes there is also an useful info on Wikipedia and this is the info am referring to. I don't study history from Internet, although i have red ( attended at least) most of the sites which might be of some interest for me. And what you say about past is wrong and has noyhing to do with nationalism. Every people on Earth deserves to know his history as it is and be proud of it.

Only this way you can avoid nationalism if you want.

  • ..the question is not if we should study history, but which history we should study. The history told by 'us' the history told by 'the others', who are those 'others'. History the way we know it is simply an interpretation of someone, framing of an idea, categorizing everything, from OUR point of view, depending on the time, place and the involved sides of a potential conflict.

  • And my knowledge comes from my BA degree in Politics from Kingston University of London, where I'm currently working on my dissertation 'Media Effects on Nationalism in the Macedonian Region'. So no worries if you are indeed interested in my sources I'd be more than pleased to send you my bibliography. Unfortunately I doubt you will be able to read those works, for they aren't translated in Bulgarian.

P.S. Don't rush in accusing me of pro-Macedonism again please for I am quite...

  • ..aware of the fact that Мacedonian Nation as such starts its existence only after World War II within the borders of former Yugoslavia.

  • hahaha, don't worry about my linguistic skills, i will probably grasp most of the works pointed in your bibliography- it is not rocket science.

I am still curious about Asen II, don't try to deviate the subject. Please feel absolutely free to publish your bibliography list here on this site so that everyone can see it. Unfortunately , i have doubts that you wll do it;) But you can prove me wrong if you like.

  • Wace, A.J.B, Thompson, M.S. 1914 The Nomads of the Balkans: an Account of life and customs among the Vlachs of Northern Pindus; London: Methuen pp 259

The leaders of the uprising were the two brothers Peter and Asan by name and Vlachs by race according to Nicetas the contemporary historian (Niketas Choniates)

  • I think my previous comment didn't got posted. What I was saying is that I did make a mistake indeed, mentioning the wrong Asen, for which I do apologies, I do not however have any regrets about the rest that I said, which could be proven by the quote of this rather old key study.

  • no, your previous comments did got posted but you've deleted them. God knows what you've written and why you've changed your mind. Now, i am very happy that you don't insist any more that Asen II is of Cuman origin. I knew that if you dare to post some of your sources at all they would be something like this thing below. that is the reason why i asked you to name your sources- to expose them.

  • For instance they called Russians Scythians just coz they lived in Scythia( precisely Sarmatia). And as we know russians aren't scythians like the celts. Moreover this guy Niketas uses Vlach as a synonym of Moesia, which confirm the above conclusions.

YES,That is right, your greek guy calls them sometimes Vlachs sometimes Moesians.

Only Romanian historians insist that Peter and Asen are Wallachos and ONLY on the basis of this hardly reliable source.

  • I bet you didn't know that Peter, Asen and Kaloyan viewed themselves as DIRECT ancestors of the last tsar of the 1. Bulgarian Empire - tsar Samuil.

Now, this is undesputed fact since its is written black on white as they founded the 2 Empire. Furtermore their title was Tsar of all bulgarians and Greeks. Where the hell are the Vlachs in this game? The only thing that Vlachs did is to support the revolt of both brothers Asen and Peter, absolutely nothing else.

  • oh Lord... you just periphrases the whole wikipedia article of Peter IV... LOOLLL GOOD JOB and amazing sources... and you don't of course consider their actions as a search for legitimacy, (im sure you saw this as an expression in the wikipedia article...) i mean.. Theodor changed his whole name in searching for legitimacy, why wouldn't he claim he's an ancestor of Samuil?.. you're not even worth arguing..

  • btw... since you're so fond of wikipedia, check out the article of Kaloyan of Bulgaria, the one who called himself "Bulgarorum atque Blachorum (Bulgarians and Wallachians), and who 'my greek guys' name Wallach, due to their ignorance... :D :D :D

  • ohh, maan...I hope you don't think that i have the original paper of Niketas at home. Of course, i informed myself further about this punk Niketes Choniates and his insignificant statements. And yes i have red the articles on Wikipedia( as well as Britannica and others), what is the problem??!! That is what intelligent people do when they don't have enough information for a certain topic in the library at home-they search the web!!

  • Intelligent people believe and use accurate, reliable sources.

  • how do you know what my sources are, punk!!!

And who the fuck are you to say that people like Mutavchiev are nationalists. Or maybe Peter Dobrev and his pamirian theory about bulgar's origin is also nationalistic??? Well if you've done this you obviously don't have many accurate reliable sources.

And the male bitch you have quoted - Are you calling this a reliable source??? Go fish, faggg!

  • ako te hvana nqkude ste te biq dokato ne poumnee6, bokluk nasran. kakvo mi se prawi6 na perfiden um- aklio s aklio. kingston university- nqma go i v top 200 na the higher educatinal ranking na the times. egati lainiarina. • So his( Zlatarsky's) opinion counts and is of great importance at least for me. I think, You should also have some respect to one of the most eminent and worldwide recognized bulg., historians. So the only thing i took from wikipedia is Zlatarsky's opinion as an expert.

You don't know me but my hobby is history, not medieval history but ancient history, but even so i am still better and know more than you. So plz don't try to look smart in front of me.

  • Your dissertation or whatever you call it is just sooo one-sided. You have taken from here and there some statements and from all that crap you have made bold conclusions like Asen and Peter are Vlachs and Asen II is of cuman Origin. Shame on you! In fact, the simple truth is that we know relatively little about these guys and their origin.

That is why you cannot just write that they are Vlachs like it is a fact, coz it is NOT and no- one on the whole Earth has ever proven it.

  • ...ok so why are you saying as a fact that they're Bulgarian, since you can't prove it. Quite hypocritical, don't you think?

  • The slavic theory , which you defend, is the communist's one. This what we learnt in school: we are slavic , bla bla bla. So you are the brainwashed one not me. I repeat there is no evidence that the bulgars were few as they came to the Balkan, exactly on the contrary, they led wars against Byzanz long before 680 ( 479AD at the time of Anastasius they reached Constantinopole- a pure fact) so they were many and powerful. Besides Slavic is a notion without a meaning- it is a language group.

  • Besides, i think you regard thracians as greeks, don't you. Well, wrong again- Thracians, ancient macedonians and illyrians weren't genetically greeks. However, they adopted the hellinistic culture and moreover the greek polytheistic religion, that is why we call them greeks, but this is an abuse of language. They belong to the hellinistic culture but are not themselves greeks, is it clear!!!

  • ....I do not regard Thracians as Greeks... THERE WERE NO THRACIANS LEFT BY THAT TIME! They've already merged with the byzantium population, spoke modern greek, the architecture from that period is identical as the one in the known greek teritorries. there were simply no thracians left at that time as a self-recognized ethnic group!

  • Balkans have been poisoned with Nationalism, they consider it as something good calling it patriotism and using it to forget the misery of their own life, remembering those 'great times'. Nations are imagined. What i said about Bulgarians being a nation after 1878 was as a response to someone who said modern Greeks did not exist before the 18th century. And yes all those people were indeed Bulgarians, perhaps the first Bulgarians to moderate the Bulgarian nation.

  • The cyrillic alphabet was invented in Preslav ( the 2. capital of the 1. Bulgarian Empire) in 10. century by Climent Ochridsky and other bulgarian scholars, so don't tell me that cyrillic has nothing to do with bulgarians, coz it is simply false.

Many monkeydonians present themselves in forums for bulgarians and talk shit about bulgarian history. Sifera, are you sure you are not one of these little provokers?

  • ...but don't be so blind to believe that there was even a single nation in this world, which existed before the French Revolution and that this sense of 'we' that you were talking about had ever made sense to anyone before that.

  • Why do americans hate us so much? We invented the PC for someone i don't believe in sake! They like some fucking 8-th world african and asian douchebags, but they hate the oldest country in Europe.

    What a shame!

  • Oh wow, the ignorance that is pouring from this post...
