This performance won it for him for the show. He was so connected and fun andjust right on point. What was alsoreally lovely is that one othe world's most crazy and theactrical singers in the world would tone it down and only sing a small part of the song so that Landau got all the attention, that was a lovely selfless humble act on Labelle's part
The hardest part of Landau for me has always been his genre. Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin are gods of their genre, no doubt, and Landau sang them beautifully. Really not my thing, but I still liked Landau and hoped he would win. This performance right here broke that barrier down completely. Mind = blown. I'm gonna hit the replay button, brb.
Luv'm......Landau, you deserve to climb to the top! You are a God'given talent from W.VA....My mom is from WVA, and I know how hard it is to live there!
It's mind blowing to think they only practiced this one day. This has to be the best all time performance I've seen on one of these shows. You'd think the two of them were working together for years. Love the expression of the judges at the end.
This is an example of being humble is what really people want to see in this world. Mrs. Patty Labelle not only is a great singer but allowed another person to have His moment and did not make it about her. In my opinion, that is why she is a star.
Also, Landau is not only talented but humble, this is what we need to see in our country right now. Talented, Humble people
He is a great singer don't get me wrong, but I do think that his background and honest heartwarming story played a great role in him winning. I say again that he is a great singer, but I don't think that he necessarily had the best talent. Not hatin just stating my opinion. I'm glad that he won.
I'm sorry that shit was wack -___- he tried to recreate what patti and micheal bolton did and it just didnt workk he's a ok singer he should'nt have won point blank

@CoconutTreeClimber It's simple math man, do you wanna watch 1 nigga stand there and sing....OR would you rather see a whole group of folks with better music playing, dancing, and a light show all at the same time!!! I can promise you this....if we had both them do their acts back to back in Las Vegas and the audience voted.....lil nigga boy would LOSE like 5,000 votes to 10 (his family)!!!

The name of the Song is 'You're all I need to survive'. Singing with a Famous Star isn't as easy as Solo. Ms Patti LaBelle and Landou Eugene Murphy, Jr.. did a Fine job. People voted for the Talent, not a story of Where one came from. Don't Hate, instead enjoy & be Happy
Why do the freakin' singers ALWAYS win in this competition?!!??? Three years from now I bet hardly anybody will even remember his name, but Silhouette and Team Illuminate will still be going strong.
@bboy6915 The song is "You're All I Need To Get By" written by Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson it was a Duet song by Ms. T that Patti mention at the end of the son Ms. T is Tammi Terrell, she sang the duet with Marvin Gaye
these people and team illuminate should of won ... not this gay borinjg singing shittt hows singing talent when all you do is stand stilll ... singing aint talent its boring and always the same .this nigger won cause he used a bullshittt car washing story so america can feel bad and pick him and they did , fucken pathetic .... these people practice and practice timeing moves routine trying all hard day and night .. and all this nigger does is stand still and sing lol and he won lmao sad
@vdfgsrthsrt Who are YOU to deem what is or isn't talent?
You're telling me that MILLIONS of Americans voted for him based solely on his story? PLEASE. On shows like this, you are generally ASKED about your life. That's how it works.
@vdfgsrthsrt come on man u cant be like that. landau won because he is a true vegas act, also he is an incredibly amazing singer. no one has sang like him in such a long time. Team illuninate was really good but they aren't a vegas act they are more of a music video dance team for the Black Eyed Peas
@vdfgsrthsrt - He don't look to be standing still to me ... then again I disagree with the rest of your perception. It's over and done with ... why is it that this country has so many people who can't accept voting democracy?
Amazing, this was just.... wow. I never knew he had so much soul in him and Patti was fenominal as usual. Im so glad he won, he was the best out of everyone.

Ms Patti: "I'm 67, you're 37, & we're gonna rock!" What an understatement! I've loved her since her spiked Mohawk hairdo days.
The basic question posed by this show is - for which act would YOU spend big bucks for a show ticket and plane fare to go to Vegas to see. I picked Landau. And one more thing - fair warning to all of you! You best not get between me and the cash register when his first CD hits the racks. I will run you down!
@TheAirheaded1 WE DON'T NEED PEOPLE LIKE YOU IN THIS WORLD TO CURRUPT IT! DID YOU NOT GET THE NAME OF THE SHOW? WELL LET ME REMIND YOU SINCE YOUR ARE OBVIOULY BLIND. THE NAME OF THE SHOW IS TITLED “AMERICA’S GOT TALENT.” THEREFORE, THIS WAS “AMERICA’S CHOICE” OKAY! I HAVE SAID WHAT I NEEDED TO SAY AND WILL NOT RESPOND BACK TO ANYMORE OF YOUR EMAILS! I REFUSE TO STOOP TO YOUR LEVEL! THE END!
@kerryann0909 Obviously It's not worth arguing with you, since your CAPS BUTTON IS STUCK!!!! And everybody has a right to their own opinion!! I'd rather see some neon lights or cool music with silhouettes dancing around than some niggga that sounds like a white boy!!
@TheAirheaded1 OBVIOUSLY YOU ARE BLIND AND IN ANOTHER WORLD SO JUST WAIT AND SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL GO TO VAGAS TO WATCH HIM PERFORM. NOT EVERY BODY IS "RACIST LIKE YOU! DID YOU NOT SEE THAT THE THREE JUDGES ARE WHITE AND NOT RACIST LIKE YOU? GO AND GET A LIFE! YOU SHAMEFUL, DISPICKABLE, LOW LIFE, HUMAN BEING!
Patti is just being so humble and beautiful. She sang a distance behind Landau to let him have the spotlight and when the song ended she just walked off the stage to let him have his proud moment. Patti could've outsang him if she wanted to but she didn't. This is one reason why i'm a Patti Labelle fan, not to mention her incredible vocals. I want Patti and Landau to record this professionally!!!
If I went to Vegas and saw this NIgga that sings like White folk....I would demand a REFUND!!! Silhouettes and IIlunanti .....are 10 times more exciting!!
@TheAirheaded1 You are so disgusting it’s “Racist" people like you that make that USA look bad. Obviously you are jealous and hating on great talent. Do you even have any kind of heart? Obviously you don’t! If you don't have anything good to say keep your negative comments to yourself positive people like me don't want to hear it! Stop hating and start appreciating when you see great talent staring you in your face!
@TheAirheaded1 While I do believe there was a lot of talent on this show this year, there is only so much of the Silhouettes or the Illuminati you can watch. Would not hold people's attention. However, I do think they would be a good addition to any Vegas show. Landau is a "Diamond in the Rough" as quoted by Patti Labelle.
Landau will go far! And I am thankful at the gift this family has received. The others will be fine. You are quite the racist pig!
Poor attempt at the Moonwalk and the Glide at 1:53, but GREAT singing. Out of all the contestants, he really did demonstrate the most talent, and he deserved the win.
@macherielle Besides singing, I TEACH Street Dance and Jazz Dance. For the record, he attempted to do 2 short Moon Walk steps, 2 Glide circular "float" steps, and then a quick C-Walk shuffle pattern from his left to right. (This camera angle wasn't the best for seeing it.)
From one upcoming entertainer to another, I wasn't being unfairly critical or judgmental of this talented and inspirational man. YOU need to understand all aspects of stage performance before you open your mouth.

@Visionary0001 I don't give a rats ass what you do smart ass. He did the same move after his name was called at the finale results announcement. Go check that out and tell me what that is then. He has no professional training as a dancer or a singer. Who are you to judge and analyze what he did. No one wants your critique anyway big mouth.
@macherielle Go back to the CLINIC, and stay there, you nut case. I'll be meeting Landau Eugene Murphy at THE TOP, and celebrating with him and all the other great ones who are "self made."
The reason WHY is because I can accept constructive criticism as an indispensable learning tool, (in fact, I ENJOY it), but children like you CAN'T. No further responses will be given, you wannabe.
@Visionary0001 Who's the child and wannabe here nuthead? lol You're the overly confident moron bragging about being a dance and voice instructor. You probably teach short term temporary classes anyways. lol Landau is already on his way to the top, unlike you who is regressing. haha
He's 37. It took this long for his amazing talent to be discovered. Can you believe that? What a waste. People, if you have great talent, don't let others tell you you aren't good enough! Don't let anyone bring you down! Believe in yourself! Get out there and show the world what you've got before it's too late! You live only once!
I appreciate your sentiment. But there's also a little reality at play too.
Talent is only part of the equation. There is a whole lot that goes in to being successful. Don't think for a second that anyone with real talent on these shows isn't already out there performing and trying to be "discovered." That's not the way it works.
I've seen mind blowing talent in places that smell like urine while lesser talent succeeds. There's a reason for that.
@teejate First off I wasn't referring to only entertainment obviously. And of course everyone knows about talent not being the only factor necessary for success. My point was, if you DO have talent, or some special skills (music, dancing, art, fashion, etc) that you haven't shown the world, you shouldn't be afraid to show what you've got. Trying out for auditions, sending your demo is the first step. Don't sit at home hoping someone will discover you. Do you understand? (continues..)
(reply 2) There are people who give up before trying out for anything due to lack of confidence, low self esteem or other reasons. I've seen it happen. I wanted to say that they should at least get themselves out there and let others know they have talent and skills that should not be wasted.
@teejate Also, let me add that character and personality will play a big role in determining where you will eventually land in your career. Negativity & pessimism will not take you anywhere.
@macherielle I'm sorry to have tossed those facts out. It obviously struck a chord.
If someone is 'afraid' of showing the 'world' what they do then they don't have the chops to do it in the first place. Low self-esteem? Lack of confidence? Too bad. You won't succeed.
So you know kiddo, I acted for about 20 years. I know the REALITY of how it works...not the fantasy. There's no sugar coating in show BUSINESS. None. But everyone thinks they're a 'star" right? Yeah...right.
@teejate You've got serious issues. Does it bother you so much that an ordinary guy from WV is now getting all the attention and you are still struggling with 20 years of experience? I am very aware of how disgustingly cynical and rude people in show biz can be and you are one of them. I happen to be working very close to this industry. My comment was simply a note to encourage others to follow their dream. If you think it's a fantasy, then laugh. Lay the f*ck off moron.
@macherielle Uh...I think you might have missed there macherielle. I have a feeling it's not the first time though. Something tells me you might be just a little emotional and don't always consider what you're reading or being told. I also don't think you're truly involved in the industry but that's ok.
Not only did I act for 20 years but I taught acting so I could provide people with the best chance of succeeding. Creative people care about other creative people. We WANT everyone to succeed.
@macherielle If you really worked in the industry you'd KNOW that the vast majority of people are living a pipe dream and don't really have the chops to succeed. Does that mean they shouldn't try? No. Does that mean they should enjoy what they're doing? Of course not.
But does it mean that living in a fantasy world expecting to have a career although they lack the skills, perseverance and drive it takes to succeed is the right path? No it doesn't. It's a joke.
@teejate What the hell is wrong with you old fart? I told you to lay the f*ck off. I'm NOT interested. Go take your meds. You sound like a broken record. LOL!!!!!!
@macherielle Yep...emotional. I guess it's a woman thing. And I haven't even CHECKED to see if you are a woman. But I know I'm right. It's a 'last word' thing. Now let's see if you can possibly hold off and not respond to this. I'm betting you can't but I might be wrong.
@teejate I said I am working very close to the industry. I didn't say I am in it. I think you are having problems reading, too. I am not here to argue about the reality of show biz. Not interested. Sorry. Have a nice day.
@macherielle I totally agree with your comment...however the way his life turned out at 37 is NOT "a waste." All things happen for a reason. His time is NOW =o) Congrats to Mr. Murphy Jr.
Phenomenal!! every time he sings I get goosebumps and a smile on my face the whole performance! And with Miss Patti Labelle? WOW! they took down that place!! God truly is blessing him! To God be the glory! Take your bow boo LOL I love it!
He certainly deserved to win. It's nice the little girls have not overwhelmed the voting on this show. And Patti Labelle...what a class act, just sliding away leaving the spotlight for Landau.
@x3ko ---The name of the song is called "You're All I Need To Get By" written by the legendary husband wife duo songwriting team, (the late Nick) Ashford & (Valerie) Simpson. RIP peace, Nick Ashford...
@kerryann0909 What the fuck is wrong with you shit. I dont know the name, so i try to find it out. And the easiest to do is asking people exactly in this video. Did i say something wrong. Well fuck you and fuck your mom too !
@x3k Np its actually called your all i need to get by there is many version...My favorite is by Marvin Gaye amd Tammi Terrell but the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklyn does a great version also and i love this version...ive been told im too yound to love this kind of music but i do.
Congrats! all the way from Guam Landau!! damn!! you were not only mine, but my familys' pick to win this, and boy did we cheer you on!!..only in America can you go from car detailer struggling to makes ends meet for his family, to millionare, in a heart beat. Best of luck to you and your family, you can now say to your family that I have provided. From your newest Guam fan, looking forward to hearing more of your God given talent.
Cingrats, Landau from Canada! You so deserve this- unusual, amazing voice and a loving personality to go with it. Never have I been so affected by anyone of a show like this- a true talent that makes some of the so-called "pop" stars we have out there now look pretty insipid and overproduced. Hope you come to Canada when you start touring!
hes very talented im done watching this show its bullshit howie was right anyone that doesnt sing is at a disavantege thay should just call it American idol 2..all the other acts are just waisting there time showing up its sad
He's an example of what can happen if you don't give up, no matter how old you are. It's good that he won but this would have been a great accomplishment regardless because his voice was heard worldwide and he was able to sing with a living legend, a singer who has inspired many.
ONE thing sticks in my head and saddens me terribly,Landau said,WHY didn't ANYBODY invest in Me?I had this god given talent ALL my life.NO one HELPED him!SAD<SAD<SAD.We NEED to HELP those who need it and stop being selfish! We need to INVEST in our YOUTH.Landau could of made it in his early yrs had someone TOOK THE TIME!He'll help others,I KNOW!If you know a talented youth, sponcer THEM,PLEASE!Help them reach their potential!
@zolumpus It's hard for the truely talented to get help. Many people want to exploit those that can get the young crowd hyped up over forgettable songs that won't mean anything to them in a few years.
absolutely amazing!!! both pattie labelle and landau! pattie gets better every time i see her, and what an amazing rags to riches story. trully a story to inspire any and everyone to reach for their stars. and how absolutely gracious of her to give him his moment. she's always been such an inspiration. thank you both for showing us true showmanship.
I am overflowing with joy for Mr. Landau Eugene Murphy and his family! I pray God's continued blessings upon him and his family! I adore Landau's energy and spirit. The young contestants really appear to respect and adore him. He has such a generous, compassionate, humble and loving energy. Landau has such a unique gift bestowed upon him by God. His smile is illuminating. I am truly joyous and am celebrating this beginning opportunity for Landau! Bravo! Bravo!
I followed him since the day he ( auditioned ) put the chewed gum in his pocket. Am glad he made it. Congratulations Landau! Wow you really have a great voice.
Part of my dream world involves Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. crooning for me for three hours straight. He is the single most talented person this season, no question.
God Bless Landeau and his family God truely has a plan for him and his family. he has had it rough being homeless washing cars for 10 years now it is his time to rejoice and share his gift that God has given him and share it with the world in Vegas his life will never be the same amen he so deserves it was so happy for him when he was voted the winner amen thank you Lord,,dreams do come true in the usa..

You're telling me that MILLIONS of Americans voted for him based solely on his story? PLEASE. On shows like this, you are generally ASKED about your life. That's how it works.
Now get lost. Your whining like a spoiled brat.
SunnasChariot 5 months ago 5
@vdfgsrthsrt come on man u cant be like that. landau won because he is a true vegas act, also he is an incredibly amazing singer. no one has sang like him in such a long time. Team illuninate was really good but they aren't a vegas act they are more of a music video dance team for the Black Eyed Peas

@vdfgsrthsrt - He don't look to be standing still to me ... then again I disagree with the rest of your perception. It's over and done with ... why is it that this country has so many people who can't accept voting democracy?

THE END!
kerryann0909 5 months ago
@kerryann0909 Obviously It's not worth arguing with you, since your CAPS BUTTON IS STUCK!!!! And everybody has a right to their own opinion!! I'd rather see some neon lights or cool music with silhouettes dancing around than some niggga that sounds like a white boy!!
TheAirheaded1 5 months ago
@TheAirheaded1 OBVIOUSLY YOU ARE BLIND AND IN ANOTHER WORLD SO JUST WAIT AND SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL GO TO VAGAS TO WATCH HIM PERFORM. NOT EVERY BODY IS "RACIST LIKE YOU! DID YOU NOT SEE THAT THE THREE JUDGES ARE WHITE AND NOT RACIST LIKE YOU? GO AND GET A LIFE! YOU SHAMEFUL, DISPICKABLE, LOW LIFE, HUMAN BEING!
kerryann0909 5 months ago
Patti is just being so humble and beautiful. She sang a distance behind Landau to let him have the spotlight and when the song ended she just walked off the stage to let him have his proud moment. Patti could've outsang him if she wanted to but she didn't. This is one reason why i'm a Patti Labelle fan, not to mention her incredible vocals. I want Patti and Landau to record this professionally!!!

Stop hating and start appreciating when you see great talent staring you in your face!
kerryann0909 5 months ago

@Visionary0001 It wasn't even a moonwalk he was trying to do stupid.

No one wants your critique anyway big mouth.
macherielle 5 months ago
@macherielle Go back to the CLINIC, and stay there, you nut case. I'll be meeting Landau Eugene Murphy at THE TOP, and celebrating with him and all the other great ones who are "self made."
The reason WHY is because I can accept constructive criticism as an indispensable learning tool, (in fact, I ENJOY it), but children like you CAN'T. No further responses will be given, you wannabe.
Visionary0001 5 months ago
@Visionary0001 Who's the child and wannabe here nuthead? lol You're the overly confident moron bragging about being a dance and voice instructor. You probably teach short term temporary classes anyways. lol Landau is already on his way to the top, unlike you who is regressing. haha

He's 37. It took this long for his amazing talent to be discovered. Can you believe that? What a waste. People, if you have great talent, don't let others tell you you aren't good enough! Don't let anyone bring you down! Believe in yourself! Get out there and show the world what you've got before it's too late! You live only once!
macherielle 5 months ago 68
@macherielle
Show BUSINESS.
teejate 5 months ago
@teejate First off I wasn't referring to only entertainment obviously. And of course everyone knows about talent not being the only factor necessary for success. My point was, if you DO have talent, or some special skills (music, dancing, art, fashion, etc) that you haven't shown the world, you shouldn't be afraid to show what you've got. Trying out for auditions, sending your demo is the first step. Don't sit at home hoping someone will discover you. Do you understand? (continues..)
macherielle 5 months ago
(reply 2) There are people who give up before trying out for anything due to lack of confidence, low self esteem or other reasons. I've seen it happen. I wanted to say that they should at least get themselves out there and let others know they have talent and skills that should not be wasted.
macherielle 5 months ago
@teejate Also, let me add that character and personality will play a big role in determining where you will eventually land in your career. Negativity & pessimism will not take you anywhere.
macherielle 5 months ago 11
@macherielle I'm sorry to have tossed those facts out. It obviously struck a chord.
If someone is 'afraid' of showing the 'world' what they do then they don't have the chops to do it in the first place. Low self-esteem? Lack of confidence? Too bad. You won't succeed.
So you know kiddo, I acted for about 20 years. I know the REALITY of how it works...not the fantasy. There's no sugar coating in show BUSINESS. None. But everyone thinks they're a 'star" right? Yeah...right.
teejate 5 months ago
@teejate You've got serious issues. Does it bother you so much that an ordinary guy from WV is now getting all the attention and you are still struggling with 20 years of experience? I am very aware of how disgustingly cynical and rude people in show biz can be and you are one of them. I happen to be working very close to this industry. My comment was simply a note to encourage others to follow their dream. If you think it's a fantasy, then laugh. Lay the f*ck off moron.
macherielle 5 months ago
@macherielle Uh...I think you might have missed there macherielle. I have a feeling it's not the first time though. Something tells me you might be just a little emotional and don't always consider what you're reading or being told. I also don't think you're truly involved in the industry but that's ok.
Not only did I act for 20 years but I taught acting so I could provide people with the best chance of succeeding. Creative people care about other creative people. We WANT everyone to succeed.
teejate 5 months ago
@macherielle If you really worked in the industry you'd KNOW that the vast majority of people are living a pipe dream and don't really have the chops to succeed. Does that mean they shouldn't try? No. Does that mean they should enjoy what they're doing? Of course not.
But does it mean that living in a fantasy world expecting to have a career although they lack the skills, perseverance and drive it takes to succeed is the right path? No it doesn't. It's a joke.
(And shove your 'fuck off'')
teejate 5 months ago
@teejate What the hell is wrong with you old fart? I told you to lay the f*ck off. I'm NOT interested. Go take your meds. You sound like a broken record. LOL!!!!!!
macherielle 5 months ago
@macherielle Yep...emotional. I guess it's a woman thing. And I haven't even CHECKED to see if you are a woman. But I know I'm right. It's a 'last word' thing. Now let's see if you can possibly hold off and not respond to this. I'm betting you can't but I might be wrong.
teejate 5 months ago
@teejate I said I am working very close to the industry. I didn't say I am in it. I think you are having problems reading, too. I am not here to argue about the reality of show biz. Not interested. Sorry. Have a nice day.
macherielle 5 months ago
@macherielle I totally agree with your comment...however the way his life turned out at 37 is NOT "a waste." All things happen for a reason. His time is NOW =o) Congrats to Mr. Murphy Jr.

He's an example of what can happen if you don't give up, no matter how old you are. It's good that he won but this would have been a great accomplishment regardless because his voice was heard worldwide and he was able to sing with a living legend, a singer who has inspired many.
