pretty sure subletting is allowing someone to rent the space you own, or in the video's case, are renting out of yourself. basically in the video the dude is still responsible for damage and how rent is payed and whatnot because he doesn't own the property in which he lives. he can still, however, set his own sublet rent amount accordingly as long as it's documented correctly and informed to the owner of the property.
