Hmm I tried various attacks on the ankle to cause a disruption this one probably works 1 in 10 times, as most of us when bridged forward hook high on the shin ordrop hips back with ankles under arse, making this very difficult, but any waze is worth a try if they have a good base.
Watch your training partners lads! I just got my knee popped last night. I've had an ultrasound and x-ray today which have shown only a strain. I was lucky. DON"T DO THIS IN TRAINING!! It's not much fun putting a friend out for up to 12 months with a dick move like this. Save it for comps!
This move really works, Ive used it twice to tap out bigger and better opponents, and my bjj game is ok at best, so someone with a decent game can use it if they wind up getting mounted.
Cant really see this working, you havent hooked his arm, therefor should stop him from rolling as he should have it posted, and i cant really see him tapping from that specialy not in a mount position anyways, but i supose it works for some people.

DUDE! THIS IS NICE! BEAUTIFUL! I've been doing MMA 4 years now so I've been competing in No-Gi tournaments where I could do below the belt submissions.... I've been doing BJJ with a GI 8 months now.... where I can't use as many below the belt submissions. Can I use this one by any chance????
Interesting but not gonna work most the time. I've experimented with many types of leg/foot locks with my legs when im mounted. This move all the guy needs to do is slide his kness up towards your armpit and he's out
Tried it yesterday. Didnt work for shit first time. Sweat really kills this move.
Second time, not so sweat, bit more practice. My opponent out belted me. But he had never felt this move... so it came as a shock! he tilted his boddy away from the pain and i bridged him to roll over. Nice! Wont work everytime. Some people keep the foot very "flat" so its very low persent. othertimes. could be good. Part of my rep from now on, thx!
@wespozo At the start of the video, he said it was a low % move but option or alternative if nothing else works. There are alot of low % techniques in BJJ/Judo/Sambo that only work at the right moment.
it works. if you get the tap the guy is fuckin stupid but ill do this and bump to speed up his roll it actually wrks really well if they try to grapevine you, if you trap their leg correctly flexing your leg doesnt work, worse case he opens up the mount and you take him to half guard
beautiful! I have never seen this before.I always find myself on my back w/ larger peeps on top in class.I'm not telling anyone about this! they should already know damn it! LOL A+!!!!!!!
i am a white belt in bjj and am wondering about whether this move could be used in a white belt competition since it is pretty much a heel hook and leg submissions are illegal at the white belt level.
sorry if this seems to be a stupid question, it just seems like this could be used as a sweep AS WELL as a submission
i was wondering could you make this into a submission if you didnt roll and just manipulated the ankle to form a type of heel hook it looks possible please reply
im a bjj white belt so you probably know more than i do, but either way... i think it could work as a submission, however since you're using your feet to apply it you have much less control over the hold (compared to using your hands in a normal heel hook) and so using it as a sweep would probably be a better option.
How about another cautionary note. Don't wear jewelry while training. You can seriously injure yourself or your training partners. Great video otherwise.
I was teaching MMA last night and we got a new guy who came in, luckily, he was rolling but didnt get his ear ring ripped out, but he did save himself.
As a cautionary note, I just popped Brandon's knee with this very move yesterday. We were going very slow and light and the move was applied with caution and it still caused a slight sprain in his knee.
Good news is, the move works and Brandon's knee seems to be relatively o.k. But please, be careful and respectful of your partner when using this move.
I did notice that Brandon was wearing wrestling shoes this time around and we both think that, that had an effect on how things went down.
@bayamasaki if this did happen it re agrivated the knee injury seeeing as the way the pressure is applied the heel should snap well b4 the knee gets popd.
I am sorry this is too funny for me, the only way to get a good guy off is bridge hard and before the bridge is over start to elbow escape that you will not get ending up getting the guy either in half guard, heel hook threat or Marcelo Garcia type X guard sweep.
Question If the guy reacts nevermind the knee escape was asking before you got to it on video. Thank you got to try that. I can get knee escape on a weaker opponent but a couple 240-250 guys in class I cant but ill try this thank-you
Interesting...have to try that out. I can't see actually getting the reversal on too many people, but I can definitely see it opening up space as they react to it. Thanks for sharing!
OR you could just elbow him in the balls, OR crush his balls with your hand!!

if he lifts his leg instead of turning or tapping couldn't you just swim his leg almost like going for the electric guitar sweep and get up?

I use this technique and it is helpful. Listen to what he said:
1. Either he taps
2. Rolls,
3. Or move in a way to give you more space.
He never claimed it works 100%.
sanucesMMA 2 years ago
@sanucesMMA Couldn't of said it better. If the guy doesn't tap but moves and creates space, the technique worked.

I didn't post the vid. It depends on the rules of each particular tournament. Just remember to read the rules before you compete.
wishnxg 2 years ago
you're right. id probably just remember this technique for self defence reasons since it could hurt a training partner/opponent quite badly.
thanks for your advice
