i had one of these a while ago and i can honestly say its the worst pedal ive ever owned and ive had quite a few now/totally unusable sounds unless all you want to do is play around in your bedroom
@Jimlead seriously dude, andy can play anything. clearly you've never seen any PGS's other demos. and he could most definatly outplay some random youtube punk like you. and don't even think about replying saying "Well, at least i could out play you" cause you probably could. but still your an idiot
This thing sounds like all the worst settings on the Fuzz Factory rolled into one tiny pedal. I'd get quite similar results by running a Fuzz Factory (and a couple of other fuzz boxes) at a lower voltage.
this might sound stupid... but... is this pedal kind of "harmfull" for your amp? i mean...it sounds SO crazy! with all that subharmonics feedback, can it damage your amp or something alike?
@mynmyself No. It would be very hard for a pedal powered by a 9V battery to damage the input of a tube amplifier (not sure about solid-state amps or other audio hardware.) In general, damage is extremely unlikely. Sound is just sound. The amp doesn't much care what sound it amplifies.
to tell you the truth, i dont like the sounds too good...is it the way he's setting the nobs or is the general sound you'll get? i mean no respect im truely interested.
just got one these/awesome noise/bit uncrotrollable as there is no volume on it but thats part of the fun/works great with my emg 81 powered gretsch but not so well with my jazzmaster/all in all a wild and fun pedal//
I've never even heard of Death by Audio pedals before today, but I am in love with everything about this pedal. Right down to the way the knobs are labeled with drawings of waves.
Out of all DBA pedals I like the sound of this one the best.
I'm strapped for cash right now and I already own the Zvex Fuzz Factory though I'm still looking for an addittion to my collection. Would it be a good idea to buy this one or would I be better of with some other sort of pedal?
Well, the fuzz factory is a silicon transistor based fuzz. Silicon's tend to be more crackly, splatty, crackly, and raw. I'm almost positive this is a silicon fuzz as well. If I were you I would get a germanium based fuzz like the fuzz war. It can still make crazy noises, just different crazy noises than the pedal you already have.
Alright, finaly the fuzz ive been searching for! The one pedal that doesnt hold back on the fuzz, and i dont mind the volume and feedback. This is just perfect for a thik fuzz sound and offers many opritunities.
This pedal makes a Fuzz Factory seem tame. The thing is nuts. Roll the volume back to like 4 on your guitar and only bits and pieces of sound come through and you can make it sound all electronic. A lot of the settings will have a sound like a dying cable so your sustain is gone. This thing will boost the HELL out of your amp. I cant decide if Im gonna keep this or not.
It depends on what settings you use. On the gated settings, the notes will chop off and sputter out. But on the noisey bits, it can add a lot of sustain and feedback.
Damn Andy you should play guitar for Fantomas. I'm usually not the biggest fan of out there fuzz pedals but something in the tone of this one is calling my name.
@ProGuitarShopDemos that is why I watch your gear reviews. No BS, great tones, push the boundaries of all the pedals. Thanks for saving me the trip to the guitar store to try it out myself!
no they're different not competing. this thing is like extreme fuzz while glitch computer is in some kind of atari punk counsole guitar pedal league. they both rock
Death by Audio are COOL.
But they DO seem to just make lots of the same pedal with slight alterations! :)
Love the Supersonic Fuzz Gun, and the Fuzz War, though. Kinda sum up what's great about their pedals in just those two, I reckon.
