The song remains timeless. I've been hearing it for some 45 years now...and I never tire of it. Here, your rather unique take on it brings the song to an all-new level (of sorts). Thank you so much for filling my request for this beloved chestnut of a ditty.
This was such a delight to see once again. It does my heart good in knowing that you have done such an impressive job at perpetuating this classic from the pen of old Lee Hays (my musical mentor) and Grandpa Pete Seeger. I have three versions to choose from as I fancy...yours,lewdite's and Raymond Crooke's. I must favourite your rendition now.:)
I treasure the 'special effects'...the way you move your mouth and have the words come out sometime later. Very 'arty' and flowery. It adds a certain flavor (flavour) to the performance. I thank you for providing me with a front row seat for the show. It's like having my own private Dimple Diamond concert right at my fingertips.:)
An instrument that you've just been taught this mornin'...LOL LOL LOL!
I am rollin' in stitches. I would love to send this over to Pete Seeger (who lives just up the road from here) (if you wouldn't mind)...I'd love to hear his reaction to his song making its way through 'the folk process' by way of the legendary (or soon to be) Dimple Diamond.
I'm tickled pink! This was quite a new take on "If I Had A Hammer. You've created a composite of the PP&M version and Trini Lopez's. This was such a surprise for my ears and your guitar strummin was right on the mark to boot.
You have brought so much joy to me today DD,that this is the first time I've felt well enough to sit in the recliner in the parlor.
