The truth is everywhere in the world and in all corners of our country people have heavy Mother Tongue Influence on their English - from Gujaratis who pronounce 'hall' has 'hole' and 'shampoo' as 'sampoo' to Maharashtrians who do not take the H in whale as silent, to Tamilians who would say 'yem yen kumar' when addressing Mr M N Kumar to Malayalis who would 'zimply' be 'eggzited' .

Our own news-anchors suck at English. And the sad thing is that the authorities always wind up such people to teach others... That's what hurts me the most. These people, whoever they are, deserve better teachers. There's no point teaching them English if you're hiring useless teachers. :/

I don't know if BSL teachers are teaching them or whatever... I was just expressing pity at the state of our news correspondents' English (who are supposed to be much better at linguistics), while we have ambitious plans to teach English to the Metro staff.

In the end, I did say that it was a good step by DMRC. :)
