I am glad that you made peace in your life. You cannot pray the gay away. I am so glad I didn't have to go through that when I was a teen or any part of my life. I heard this girl last night she said her mom is mormon and drugged her and took her to a place that performed shock therapy on her. They showed her pictures of women and shocked her and then didn't shock her when it was a picture of a man. It lasted for 30 minutes until the mom couldn't take it any more and got her out.
This is one of the scariest things about the USA. It's really sad how many people torture themselves and other because of religion.

Idk how it could be hard to open up to someone you just met, not any random person on the steet but someone like a therapist. The longer I know someone the harder it is to talk about an issue because I care a lot about what they think about me and a lot less about what a person I just met thinks about me. Like when I was younger my friends would ask if I was a virgin and I would say no but when a doctor asked I would ask I would say yes and could not care less of what he thought.

jeff, i totally agree with your desisions and am glad your parents finally realised that being gay is just part of who you are and so they should accept it and love you all the same. now im 14 and a straight girl, but i have a total facination with how people find it so hard to accept homosexuality - i think it just comes down to this being one of the only human traits that cannot be dechiphered with science or enviromental factors (at least not reliably) and this bothers some people.

I do not think it is a good idea to send anyone to an ex gay camp, but I do know that anyone can change. I am living proof, but that individual has to make that decision. I made decision, and I am married and I know in my heart I made the right decision to leave a life that did not allow me to raise my biological children with their biological mother in harmony. That is a life I have and I do not commit adultry, or abuse, or addiction, and we are not asexual. Recovery=5 years.

Great video!!! The suicide rate for gay teens even to this day remains VERY high. If "switching" your sexual orientation was an option then the teens would just "switch" rather than kill themselves.

uhmmm i dunno what really happened with you but unwanted ssa(same sex attractions) can def be changed. I struggled from age 12-24 and didn't realize what was the cause of these feelings. I did believe I was born this way at first because almost as soon as i became sexually aware at puberty my attractons were directed towards people of the same sex. However similar to alot of transgender ppl I somehow always felt like I ended up with the wrong orientation and was a indebted slave to it....

I've been really attracted to guys that became my friends later on. It is just because some people are very physically attractive but when you get to know them you find out that they are not what you are looking for in a long-term partner. I'm straight, too. I think this happens to everyone.

I am glad that you made peace in your life. You cannot pray the gay away. I am so glad I didn't have to go through that when I was a teen or any part of my life. I heard this girl last night she said her mom is mormon and drugged her and took her to a place that performed shock therapy on her. They showed her pictures of women and shocked her and then didn't shock her when it was a picture of a man. It lasted for 30 minutes until the mom couldn't take it any more and got her out.

This is one of the scariest things about the USA. It's really sad how many people torture themselves and other because of religion.
Kudos to the video maker and his parents, though. At first I got angry at the mum but I think it is commendable how they realised they had the problem, not their son. Religion could be a good thing if it was always that humanistic and loving. Unfortunately it is often the opposite.

Idk how it could be hard to open up to someone you just met, not any random person on the steet but someone like a therapist. The longer I know someone the harder it is to talk about an issue because I care a lot about what they think about me and a lot less about what a person I just met thinks about me. Like when I was younger my friends would ask if I was a virgin and I would say no but when a doctor asked I would ask I would say yes and could not care less of what he thought.

jeff, i totally agree with your desisions and am glad your parents finally realised that being gay is just part of who you are and so they should accept it and love you all the same. now im 14 and a straight girl, but i have a total facination with how people find it so hard to accept homosexuality - i think it just comes down to this being one of the only human traits that cannot be dechiphered with science or enviromental factors (at least not reliably) and this bothers some people.

Children adopted by queers they feel second rate because of that, they're already going to feel second rate because they know they're not the biological offspring of their "parents".

Its usually the AA kids who suffer the most! Gay parents giving these kids love and a family is far better than what their loser str8 parents who abused or abandon them did for them! I do not think it is a good idea to send anyone to an ex gay camp, but I do know that anyone can change. I am living proof, but that individual has to make that decision. I made decision, and I am married and I know in my heart I made the right decision to leave a life that did not allow me to raise my biological children with their biological mother in harmony. That is a life I have and I do not commit adultry, or abuse, or addiction, and we are not asexual. Recovery=5 years.

Great video!!! The suicide rate for gay teens even to this day remains VERY high. If "switching" your sexual orientation was an option then the teens would just "switch" rather than kill themselves.

I am happy too! My partner and I have been together for nearly 20 years! We have had a blast. I think you are who you are and I believe it is from birth. Last year the American Psychological and Psychiatric Associations deemed reparative therapy for homosexuals as unethical. You could lose your license if as a clinician you practiced it. Numerous studies have been done and all proved it did more damage to the person.If you are truly happy then that is great. I am too!

I am truly happy, it took a long time, and I am truly attracted to my wife. I have been with her for many years now. The transformation is long and tedious, and no one should force anyone in any therapy, because if that person is not willing to do it themselves its a complete waste of time. As for the clinicians, it should be open to the client, not the doctor. Just because it is a law, does not make it right. God knows our country has been debating that since 1776. I wish you well.

Jesus, gives you freedom, not restraints. You have stated yourself, there is no cure for homosexuality. Therefore, you have just restained yourself. I am not a bible toting preacher. I am here to tell you I am happy being an ex gay. God gave me the challenge of same sex attraction, how I deal with it is my choice. With God there are no boundaries, only the ones we place on ourselves. I am not judging anyone, I have no right too. Just stating the facts.

uhmmm i dunno what really happened with you but unwanted ssa(same sex attractions) can def be changed. I struggled from age 12-24 and didn't realize what was the cause of these feelings. I did believe I was born this way at first because almost as soon as i became sexually aware at puberty my attractons were directed towards people of the same sex. However similar to alot of transgender ppl I somehow always felt like I ended up with the wrong orientation and was a indebted slave to it....

Stepback, of course, you are deluding yourself by believing that "fundamental change" is possible in sexual orientation. That's an already-disproven myth spread only by those who want to justify their chosen religious lifestyle & its absurd anti-gay stance. In reality, a person's orientation is not changeable, nor should it be. It's a fundamental part of each person's existence. You wouldn't advocate folks trying to "repair" their left-handedness, Jewishness, or African Americanness, would you?

When I came out people were so confused that I could be gay and yet live such fruitfl life; since they rated me as an example of how a christian should be , it doesn't make sense to many

This video is a genuine Christian good deed for others to learn by, maybe even heal by. Thank you from one who knows , but had to learn the same things through many life experiences.

Why do religious Americans have a problem with Homosexuality. This is the 21st Century not the middle ages. Most Christians are way behind the scienific evidence on Gays. The Church needs waking up !

@ikinmoore They have a problem with it because the biblical god is clearly not a fan. You can interpret the bible however you want, but when it says that homosexuality is an abomination you can't really expect them to just embrace homosexuals with open arms. The problem isn't that Christianity is behind on the scientific evidence, it's Christianity that's the problem. The only way gays will get equal rights is to abandon religion. It's outdated and ridiculous.

Good job, one study that simply assumes for various reasons left undisclosed that the self-proclaimed ex-gays were not simply creating an elaborate self-deception versus the dozens of studies that indicate clearly that sexuality is not fluid for the majority of people and cannot be changed.

The operant word is "some". Some gays (who want to) can and have experienced diminishing of same sex attraction and increase in opposite sex attraction. Moreover, there is no evidence to support a universal or superlative notion of orientation immutability. Throwing out convenient explanations like "they're all in denial" does not prove anything. These people who have changed actually exist.
Yes I like cookies, but I don't know what that has to do with it.
