defintely! there is this assupmption that fugazi just churn out good records almost like it's effortless. they make it look that easy. in reality they work their asses off on each album. cept steady diet. that was their true transition album (my least fav). this documentary is ace because it shows you how savy they really are.
I think he's more energetic than Iggy. I've heard a comparison with Cedric Bixler-Zavala, but I don't really agree with that one either. Guy's really an original personality.
"I've never recognized "emo" as a genre of music. I always thought it was the most retarded term ever. I know there is this generic commonplace that every band that gets labeled with that term hates it. They feel scandalized by it. But honestly, I just thought that all the bands I played in were punk rock bands. The reason I think it's so stupid is that - what, like the Bad Brains weren't emotional? What - they were robots or something? It just doesn't make any sense to me." -Guy Picciotto, 2003
"I must say emocore must be the stupidest f$%ing thing I've ever heard in my entire life. But just in case you are wondering, I read in my Thrasher the other day, that in fact, what my band along with other bands in this city are playing is emocore. I'm thinking Emo Phillips, the comedian, emocore? Emotional hardcore?? As if hardcore wasn't emotional to begin with. Anyway, it's caca. I hate to say it but you can only hold your silence for too long about this stupid sh#$t." -Ian MacKaye, 1986
Figured you guys would like this, I'm posting my video of Guy stage talk in 1985 circa apartheid era in South Africa. He walks it like he talks it, always has.

he's right, theres not enough original bands out there these day, not enough bands challenging themselves and pushing their limits... moving forward.
