@vjsurfandmusic I play Cajon at open mics frequently and less is more always. I sing harmonies too but you should just let the song dictate what you wanna do. If the guitarrist / pianist builds up to something then you can throw a fill in but otherwise just chill out. Ive had people play for me in the past that will change the beat they play every bar. Pick something and stick with it throughout the song otherwise youre just hitting a drum same as any idiot who can keep a beat.
