Hey, thanks for posting this example. For me when playing the video I hear a lot of background distortions, almost like ghost compression artifacts while you're speaking with the mic. Is that YouTube's recompression of the audio? Or is it how the Yeti sounds?
@InquisitorDice Honestly I think that either your used to super expensive mics, or, being frustrated at your own inability to actually produce a decent recording, try instead to compensate for that by dissing what is a VERY good microphone for the money, to trick people into thinking you have a superior knowledge of recording equipment. This mic easily beats the crap out of any MXL under $150 that Ive heard, and it's USB, you dont need an interface, so it is a VERY good value.
@InquisitorDice Can you be more specific? This is not a rant on your comment; I am truly curious to know what exactly makes the the quality not suitable for your taste. I would prefer that you not use profanity in your response as I would like to believe that I am talking to a professional.
sorry I don't have them, I selled them and I got the Condenser mic... sorry but believe me, Yeti.... If you are searching a quality sound but the at2020 is simple, small and compact so choose!!
@DJDisgust Because I had the two of them and I can tell you : Yeti all the way.. I just bought a Condenser Mic called G-Track Samson... It's awesome !!!! Do you have a Mic yet???
major issue with the Yeti is there is no internal shock dampening and NO available shock mount. Though not in this sample, other reviews or audio samples where 'authors' have hit the desk demonstrates the lack of shock protection. Now I know its fairly new...but the lack of an available shock mount and its 'unique' size make it nearly impossible to adapt to any existing mount on the market. And like the snowball, if Blue introduces a mount, its going to be proprietary.
@MrRocque: Good point. However, even though it says it can be used in the field, this is more of a studio mic. I would say though that this is the mics biggest fault. When you think about it, it's difficult to cram three capsules into a unit and make it much smaller. A decent solution would be to set the mic on a thick rubber pad to dampen any noise from hitting the desk.
@ajspice that may work...as may many other ideas, but Blue is in the microphone business, they should have known that at some point a shock mount was going to be needed. They should have designed a shock mount (though proprietary) or shock mounted the three elements internally).Sadly, for almost the same price as the Yeti, one can get a CO3U and a shock mount, only loosing the stereo function. I would imagine there's a very good reason the Yeti has dropped from $150 to under $100 since release
@MrRocque: Again, you make a very valid point. But in all reality I just plan on putting this thing on a pole and using it for foley work. I will be getting other mics for field recording and audio for video, but for the purposes of creating sound FX, this mic is perfect.
ur not using it right , ur audio sounds like shit dor a yeti

No pop filter makes it difficult to make a good review. This is just out of the box.
