I've always been hard on myself because when I sing or shout, I sound more masculine. It shouldn't be a bad thing if a woman sings like a man, or a man sings like a woman. This is awesome!
So what if I don't sound like Celine Dion? It shouldn't be a bad thing that when I sing, all people hear is Kurt Cobain.
Glad to see I'm not the only person in the world with a mans singing voice.
I'm a deep contralto, and love it! Unfortunately, Westerners are only used to sissy-voices...haha, but these (contralto) voices are truly woman!
Listen to Russian singer Galina Baranova and you'ill hear pure gold.
Also, many of the Blues' singers, such as Bessie Smith, Mahalia Jackson and Nina Simone, and Opera singer; Marian Williamson, and you'ill hear like GORGEOUS...AND SEXY!!
But, of course, I also sing 'Ole Man river', when I'm hamming-it-up...It's good fun, like this lady.
She's so talented... Anyone laughs when a man hits female notes like David Phelps or Adam Lopez, but why is it so strange when a woman as Mrs. Nielsen hits male notes??
@VocallysQuarteto Because we live in a world where women are discriminated against, for any reason from looks, to vocal abilities to breast size. Period.

It's pretty sad that she (in needing...unfortunately) exploited comedy to show this extraordinary talent.

definitely a contralto. what's she hitting a C2-B2 there? probably dynamic too.
TLPOMNIMEDIA 3 months ago
@TLPOMNIMEDIA She is lower than a contraalto, lower also than the normal range of a female tenor.
karpov89 3 months ago
@karpov89 Ewa Podleś can sing in the same range, maybe without such resonant.

I really love listening to the host talk from 1.51-1.58 ... just so polite and kind-sounding. I wish we still talked that way sometimes.

@VocallysQuarteto
I agree. That's a true talent.
SarahFanSocks 6 months ago
@VocallysQuarteto Because, unlike the males, it's actually a biological curiosity, rather than just a modified falsetto*.
That is, if she's not just someone who was born sexually male.
*This WOMAN probably uses falsetto to sing Soprano. Note they didn't say she sings alto...

@VocallysQuarteto what are male and female notes? last i checked both men and woman in general have a very wide range of vocal ability
