@catamaranman33 I think you have it backward, Holly saw Elvis Presley sing in Lubbock in 1955, and began to incorporate a rockabilly style, similar to the Sun Records sound, which had a strong rhythm acoustic and slap bass.[
J.D. Sumner at his best as far as proving his great vocal range. Elvis knew where it was at even then. Nobody can ever be as good when it comes to a great sounding voice. Elvis Presley is the King of Rock and Roll. Forever.
I love this. I was in a quartet in the 80's and we did this song. Fun tune. but I love the instrumentation on this version better than the studio version. Memories!
Get rid of the Google advertisements. They are screwing up all the videos. This what I hate about You Tube. You Tube was supposed to be orioginally for the people. Not the big corporations.
Unfortunately in the last years, Elvis needed not only Kathy but also the Sweets and JD and Sherrill etc to fill in so many notes (and lines) for him when he sang live - because not only was Elvis not reaching the high notes but too often his voice was lacking in quality: flat or slurred or sounding hollow and tired. And he kept forgetting lyrics.
And FWIW I think that the sabotaging of the deal with Peters and Streisand for "A Star is Born" by that asshole Dutchman was artistically the end for Elvis. He alone amongst his entourage really understood (as did Streisand) that they could have made a popular movie and revitalised him both on stage and vinyl. Most of all, it was exactly what he needed for motivation and interest.
IMHO that bought home to him just how stuck he was - professionally and personally
@eezy1972 i think he did sing it live i am sure it was on lp boxset of unreleased versions i am 99% sure and i love way down he is being honest and rocking even though very ill.
dit is elvis zoals ie is

Probably not going to be a very popular statement on an Elvis video but there would be no Elvis, no Beatles, and no rock n' Roll without Buddy Holly.

I love his 1968 to 1973 stuff. But I personally say his 1974 to 1977 stuff is equally as good.

One of Elvis' heaviest recordings ('76) and the last one to be released ('77)during his lifetime. It was also one of his greatest 70s rock songs.
Great video.

@tommyboo21 The studio version of Patch It Up was up there with his '70s heavy rock studio classics.
