How to fix The Sims 2 + Expansion packs

I bought apartment life and freetime, but when I put the disk in the drive, autorun doesn't appear, and when I go to do it manually, it doesn't recognise the disk. I've been surfing the web, and a lot of other people are having the same problem. Any advice for fixing this? I have Windows 7 btw. :)

I have a problemn this wasn't happening yesterday

whenever I try to play the sims (The disk I use for it is Mansion and Farden stuff) It says to put in the original disk and not the copy (1000) is what it says x.x I don't know what it means since it's the original disk I have and I was using it yesterday with no problemns. ANy Idea?

@JackOfBlades434 right click sims 2 :click troubleshoot compatiblility it detects issues then,click try reccommended settings this might show up: settings applied : windows comppatibility mode: windows XP (service pack 2 or service pack 3) then click start the program......... HOPE IT HELPS!!!

If you have a problem,like I used to (On Windows XP) where the Sims can't copy the file when it reaches 22% (more or less, depends on your PC) than:

Go to Control Panel

Click on Date, Time, Language and regional options

go to Regional and Language options

The language might be English, but switch everything to Spanish (Spain) or Spain

You need to delete some custom content or something that uses up RAM in order to free up more space in order to play it. This happened to my friends, and unfortunatly, she had to delete some custom content, but then it worked :) Hope this helps =-)ya out!

ON what have you clicked on Task Manager? What program have u turned off? I mean End Process? Autorun.exe, TS2UPD0.exe or TS2UDP.exe ? I am not sure exacly when to eject CD,or when exacly to press ctrl + alt + delete...

Try real life, its graphics are pretty good ;)

Don't know, the expansion packs don't update the graphics in any way that I know of, you'd probably want to look for a mod.

Or look more towards sims3.

Do you have atleast the minimum system requirements? if you don't have enough RAM then that may be the issue.

what u see at my problem is what is displayed in your movie @ 1:40 but only when i start the game not installing the game, when i click ok it shuts down and when i put CD again in the drive and start the game i see 1:40 again it pisses me off:@

Since you are using a virtual drive for a 'backup' of it, you will very likely need to install it off the virtual drive, and play it off the same virtual drive.

Otherwise you might also like to try burning the ISO to a cd/dvd and try installing and playing that way. Best of luck, let me know how you get on.

hi thnx for ur response but it didnt help:( i already did the thing u said about playing it off the same virtual drive, it still doesnt recognise it, the second, well for some strange reason my cd-rom doesnt recongise ANY CD, whatsoever, no audio cd's, no game cd's, no programcd's NOTHING, so i just cant burn cd's (info: it is a multi CD/DVD 'recorder' CD-rom) maybe u know a good program with what i can play the game. i have ultraISO, alcohol 120%, DAEMON tools lite, MagicISO,Magicdisc &powerISO

Ohk, you should try and borrow an external cd/dvd drive recorder/reader off somebody, it's worth a shot.

Have you tried giving the sims2 and all the expansion packs an absolutely complete uninstall? That can fix a lot of errors, especially if something is skew in the registry.

hi i have a problem, i can install for example the sims 2 university succesfully, but when i doubleclick on it to play, it says that the wrong cd or no university CD is in the drive, (i use virtual drives like DAEMOn, ISO, ALCOHOL 120%) i did everything i could, could u help me? basically my virtual drive dont recognise the sims expansion CD's, even though i have mounted it in the virtual drive. when i want to install it, the drive recognises the CD, but when i play it, it doesn't recognise.HELP

I'll check up on this, but generally if you go into Mydocuments>EA Games>

and then copy the folder named 'The Sims 2' to another location, such as C:\TemporarySimsBackup\

then after you've reinstalled the game, you can just copy this folder into where it originally was (Ea games folder) but make sure it then has the name 'The Sims 2' or it very likely won't work.

I find it hard to understand your problems in detail, could you please re-phrase it?

From what I gather you're having an error whilst installing the expansion pack?

This may be a cd error, possibly try a friends disc. Also check that you're signed in as an administrator (possibly).

And remove any virtual drives you might have.

You should also google it and see what you can find. Keep us updated. Cheers.
