How come I didn't know about this new POP, I've all the PS2 POP games, I didn't really like the POP for PS3 that much, the Prince was weird, the graphics looked funny, the gameplay was lame. This new game could be what I've been waiting for and the Prince does look different, then again they haven't make the final touch ups yet, we just gotta wait and see how this game gonna end up with. What's the difference between this new POP game and the one for PS3? How do they connect in the story line?

This POP game is the continuation of the storyline which was left at a cliffhanger in POP: The Two Thrones. The POP for PS3 in 2008 was an entirely different story.

Thinking on this i guess people could not get used to POP changing so drastically to 08. So i think this game is an attempt to appeal to every possible fan: Die hard POP, SOT Trilogy Fans, POP SOT movie-would-be fans, and Newcomers. Keeping the costume most ppl liked, Choosing the theme that made the most money (dark), keeping the mechanic most ppl loved (Sands instead of Elika) and making it easy on Ubisoft next year.They need the money. So much for innovation hehe.

@urbn1nja Well, what most people don't seem to understand is that the Sands of Time trilogy was a drastic change from the originals outside of the trilogy. It was hard for us older fans to get used to the Sands of Time. Lol. Personally, my only problem with the new PoP was the combat. Only fighting one enemy at a time got a bit boring and tedious.

Considering that fighting one enemy at a time was formerly one of the features that the first trilogy was famously recognized for I see that despite having difficulty adapting to the SOT Trilogy changes it opened your eyes to how good change and innovation can be. I'm an old fan as well and also a fan of constant development so the transition was very easy for me.

Is it me or did they make the last Prince look a bit too much like Jake Gylenhaal? I know this game will work to tie in actual game content and that it should in some way tie in to the movie's Prince (Dastan) since it will milk money but i think they should have kept the original face of the WW Prince. The Jake look is really cheesy and deliberate.

god how i hated the last prince of persia, it honestly lost all the charm and characteristics that the great story of the sands of time presented.

IMO the shell shaded environements and characters wasnt POP at all, and what the hell was up with the one on one fights, i loved the fact that in SOT you could take on multiple enemies and still take them out in the most badass way possible.

so im more than glad that ubisoft is going back to SOT and come on who the hell liked the new prince anyways?

You know one of the devs that's making this game is talking to everybody on the official POP forums (no joke I'm serious). you should tell him not to make POP 08 sequel and just keep producing sequels and prequels related to SOT. Oh and explain why you think they should do this and don't forget to mention that everybody hated 08 and you didn't even play it because of that. :) Just saying your opinion will be recognized more over there.

I don't really feel motivated to play as the old prince again since, we already know how his story will continue in WW and eventually end in TT.

this is the true prince of persia. even though i didnt play the 2008 version, the moment i first looked at it, it turned me away instantly. loved playing sot, ww, and t2t, loved the idea of using time as a superhuman ability. i also loved how they developed the old prince from a selfish snob to a selfless savior over the course of the three games.

Actually SOT Trilogy is a fairytale and really I don't see a difference between dieing in a game and having someone saving you. There the exact same thing to me just with different animations. POP 08 just needed to space out checkpoints. I'm sure if they had Elika saving and returning you back to the temple every time you fell you'd get frustrated. :P

1- Or they're just doing it so people can have a new POP game to play as the movie is released (even if it's not based upon the movie,I'd not be surprised if we see some scenes based on it)

They say this game is only set within the Sands of Time universe but is not related to the main storyline, its a side story. The prince will only have one sand power (rewind), but there will be others non sand powers. The game is meant to bridge the gap between SOT and WW.

I am also happy that the original voice actor (Yuri Lowenthal) is back to voice the prince (-:

If this rumor is true, then it might actually work., there is a 8 year gap between SOT and WW, the new game can help to close it. I just hope this is not some cheap attempt to cash in on the success of the upcoming movie, which i suppose is a major reason for going back to the original story.
