Though being a Christian didn't help her avoid being shot, the reason she was shot was because she was unfortunately sitting out on the school lawn and was right in the killers' path. They were indiscriminately killing whoever they could. Even if she were an atheist, she would've still been killed. All things said, RIP Rachel.
