I can, and DO, reidradionc. I've read it 7 times all the way through. I have taught it as a missionary and as a Gospel Doctrine teacher. I have referenced the BoM in many talks and classes I have given over the years. The principles taught in the BoM are good, especially those where it was plagerized from the bible correctly. It's the BoM as an authentic historical record that kills it--MURDERS it!! It's the worst religious fraud ever perpetrated--except maybe Mohammed's Koran.
The BOM was meant to stand alone. The purpose is to convince the Gentile through Faith of it's truth. Then the Gentiles are to preach this truth to the Jews. The BOM says if the Jews will believe the points of doctrine contained in the BOM, then the Lord will reveal the greater points of His doctrine to them. Read the into to the BOM and understand its purpose. If you, being a gentile don't believe, there are plenty of us who will, and will take it to those who want it.

You make a very valid point here however, the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS, is the only church that I know of that actually "requires" people to live the gostpel, not just imagine living it, in order to be in good standing. No smoking, no alchohol, pay tithing, ect. Other churches may suggest following certain commandments, but they do not require it as the Lord's church does. This is why they are called the congregations of the wicked.
