@pinklaurarose@pinklaurarose thank you, hehe =) Funny story: It was actually an accident that part in the bridge where she sings "And I can't hold on" in this video, when i edited it, it looked like she was looking at me playing drums as her face faded into the next clip as she smiled. It was a happy accident =P here: 4:23-4:29 its kinda 'whoah' , lol
OMG i was sitting here at my piano with my laptop (i was getting some sheet music off evanescencereference) and i came across this video. So i turned the volume up played the video and played good enoughat my piano while listening to the drums with it and i felt like i was rockin out with u lmao.
its not a dumb question =) There's something called a key, and on the rim of the drum, there is these little knob things. You put the key on there, and it turns them. The tighter they are, the higher they are....I don't know if they make the sound of a note, lol, like a tympani does. I guess it's just preference. I put tape on mine, but i'm gonna try to remove it to see what happens.
Ah! Of course, tighter = higher tone. I always thought there was 1 optimal 'tightness' where a drum would function (so 1 tone) and any other setting would make it too loose or too tight. And grin - you go, MacGyver Style! Very cool video by the way, I don't come anywhere near you when it comes to sense for rhythme (thankfully with piano you can cheat a little ;) )
yup u sure can although it's alot more tricky than tuning say a piano or guitar where there are set notes to aim for. With drums you have to consider the drum itself, the type of head, the room etc...its a bit of an art ;) although i have heard the ppl who tune the grand pianos are pretty skilled...
Thanks! For piano's I know it's quite difficult to tune them actually, since you only set the A to the 440Hz (or whatever it is) frequency, and have to do the rest by ear, since if you aim for the set notes it will sound horrible (something with intervals). So, I think we can conclude tuning a guitar is easiest ;)
Dude was that your uniform shirt I saw? ;P It's okay lol! But I digress. The drumming was...dude I can' t even think of a word! Your freaking awesome! P.S. Do Godsmack ;)
I thought it was pretty cool. My only complaint is that the either the timing was a little off from when you put together the vodeo or you were off. I do agree you have good technique but it sounded a little sketchy sometimes. just my honest opinion... good job tho
Sweet! i love the drumms and i cant wait until i can play them, but im missing to vital things: The drum set, and the knowledge of how to play them, but this was really good, i actually thought this was the beat for the song, so GREAT JOB! and do you take requests cause if u do theres a linkin park drumm beat that i really like but its too muffled by the song, but good job your great on the drumms
yes, lol. its like all the requests i've gotten for Ev songs. I can't stand playing EXACTLY like the drummer does on a song, and this didnt have drums, so i was like, "freedom!" and i played straight from the heart of what I thought would fit.
i loved how you added the percussion. you brought it to a whole new level. i know movie maker is a pain but it seemed like you did what you could to make the sound as clear as it is. and the bridge was epic!!! keep them coming! say, when are you going to cover your requests on drums? i love the old Ev songs. ah, humble beginnings :)
the whole point of this tune is its simplicity. vocals. chorals. and piano. the drums give it a sound thats kinda cool. but i dont think it worked here. the start was. i didnt like it. the verse was actualy affective. but i think it would only realy work if the song was slowed down slightly which unless you cover the entire set is hard to do! im going to rate it a 3 becuase. well i just pretty much eplained my point. theres not enough space here to say all that i think could make this better
"the whole point of this tune is its simplicity. vocals. chorals. and piano. the drums give it a sound thats kinda cool. but i dont think it worked here."
so, what do you expect her to do? drop every idea in her head and just play to songs that it fits? yes this is a slow, moving song meant to be soft...but so what? she played the drums, she's talented, she rocks. Appreciate the art, man. appreciate the creation. appreciate it for all its entirety.
uh oh....critic. don't worry rocker, remember what Amy Lee said? I don't know if this is it exactly but something like, 'if people criticize you for being different, it probably means you're doing something right' you told me that one :)
i just gave my opinion, i dont epect her to do ANYTHING im not trying to say she shouldnt. im saying i wouldnt. thats all. yous ee thats how it works. you hear a peice of music. you give your opinion. it dosent mean i want her to change what she does. and i do appreciate it.
when i heard the beat in my head, i did keep that im mind. I could've, if i wanted to, speed up to the next tempo - but I didn't. I didn't upload this and try to shove it in people's face, like, "oh look! drums BELONG to this song! look at my creation!" no, because it's NOT my creation, I was simply trying to entertain people, and hopefully they will see as what I saw it as. I appreciate your criticism, but I like to break the rules. Its fun being a rebel.
oh yeah i definatly see your point. but what people cant seem to realise. and by people i mean everyone who replied and "thumbs downed" my comment. is that its just my opinion., its no more fact than any other opinion. i just stated what id have done! not what you should do

pretty sweet girl! ive thought of more requests (if you havent noticed, ive placed requests on almost every video ive seen)
1. land of confusion (genesis or disturbed, both are fantastic)
2. Sad but true- metallica
3. psychosocial- slipknot

some new skins and decent tuning would improve your sound massively

You should add some guitar now, that'd be cool, maybe a soft guitar part, not too overpowering, I think it'd be cool =]
