Giving police the right to conduct no-knock raids is completely incompatible with your right to defend yourself. Any criminal can impersonate a police officer.

What I do know is standard police procedure on a raid is to move fast, and make a lot of noise. The ideal I think is to stun people, and try to take control fast. However, they never announced, and this was the womans home. That is the entire debate about the no knock warrents. Police raid without warning, forcing entry into the home.

It was very tragic. The man didn't need to be eloquant, he was trying to make people think about what happened. A 92 year old woman had her home invaded without warning, and she tried to protect herself.  And I guarantee the cops will claim they aren't responsbile in any way for her death. A simple knock on the door would have saved her life.

It's very simple. I don't know if you have a gun in your family, or grew up with relatives that keep them. But it is always somewhere easy to get, especially in a city where crime can be a problem. People kick in door yelling, she grabs gun and starts shooting. If you don't when crimals bust in, your likely dead.

Police have no-knock warrants to surprise the people inside to PROTECT themselves. They were obviously serving the warrant under the impression that there was NOT a 92 year old woman inside but most likely drug dealers, who almost CERTAINLY have weapons readily available.
