Yes, they are going to push SUICIDE to cut Medicare spending! Health care will be denied based on age. $500 bil will be cut from seniors healthcare. The only way for that to happen is to drastically cut health care, the oldest and sickest will be cut first.
These counseling sessions DO NOT encourage senior citizens to end their lives. They just help seniors on Medicare make important decisions. They aren't even manditory. This is from the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and AARP. They both support the provision. Insurance lobbies are spreading these lies everywhere to try and scare the public out of health care reform of any kind.

It has to start with education. Check with your local school district and see the pathetic amount of PE/health education youngsters get today. Health ed and PE should be at the forefront of all education. It also fascilitates better learning according to research. It is very basic.

Insurance companies are IN LOVE with Obama's reform plan because they still win (and the American people lose). This country is so fucked. On page 425 of the proposed bill, it says that everyone on social security (will include all senior citizens & SSI people) will go to MANDATORY counseling every 5 yrs to learn & to choose from ways to end your suffering (and your life). Yes, they are going to push SUICIDE to cut Medicare spending! Health care will be denied based on age. $500 bil will be cut from seniors healthcare. The only way for that to happen is to drastically cut health care, the oldest and sickest will be cut first.

These counseling sessions DO NOT encourage senior citizens to end their lives. They just help seniors on Medicare make important decisions. They aren't even manditory. This is from the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and AARP. They both support the provision. Insurance lobbies are spreading these lies everywhere to try and scare the public out of health care reform of any kind.

I think people should get off their duffs and take better care of themselves. Take pharmaceutical grade supplements, and do some physical activity. Research is very clear, alongside history and basic physiology, that doing these two things will help your daily health, and avoid disease and heal you faster from mishaps. actually it was palin who brought up healthcare reform on several occasions, and the financial cost of doing nothing greatly out weighs the cost of what they're proposing. there are some aspects of the current proposal that i dont like...i.e. the mandatory part, but i'm glad to see them trying to do something. this notion of a complete gov. takeover of healthcare is absurd and a scare tactic.

Also, you can't say "Well at least they're doing something" if it's benefiting the state. The mandatory part is the fundamental basis of this reform. It's benefiting the state, not its people.
It's no scare tactic if the govt regulates who gets medical care and how, when, and where. That's scary in general. I'd like to have my options.

their agenda is to get the uninsured insured. its not to screw up the coverage you currently have. the only affect it will have on current plans is cost savings. who do you think runs medicare/medicade now. all the medicare money comes from us, so if it saves these programs money it saves us money.

I don't have a problem with that at all. But our coverage will not be screwed up by mandate. It will be screwed up by incentive. The reason why Medicare/Medicaid is so poorly managed is because of the govt. Now Obama wants to capitalize it by collecting more tax dollars and printing more money to ensure that everyone gets healthcare. I don't have a problem with everyone having healthcare. I have problem with healthcare being public. Not private.

the private industry has done nothing but screw its customers. they deny claim after claim....treatment after treatment and it gets worse each passing yr. if you dont want gov. healthcare, then dont get it. but dont tell the people who cant afford coverage now that they cant have it. medicare isnt poorly managed...its not properly funded, but its managed quite well. oh, and for the record...when was the last time you heard a govt employee complain about their insurance?

The private industry is the reason why our economy prospers. If there is no competition i.e. govt. regulated, then everyone will need to adhere to their policies. What is the word that best associates with that? Oh, I remember now. Communism.

That's not the whole truth. I find that because of the subprime loans that banks were forced to give out, and because of those who took out those loans who couldn't pay them back, it is partially their fault. But it's equally Bush's bailout of the banks and Obama's continued bailout of the american auto industry and increased govt. spending.
It was FDR that turned the recession into a depression. AAA, WPA, NRA screwed everything.

I completely agree that competition is for their growth and not for the consumers' benefit. But I must respectfully disagree with you on some of these govt. issues.
But also, I think what is better to do is simply find out what happens when the reform kicks in.
I'm just always weary on govt. spending. As much as dislike these corporate weasles in the market, I find myself more comfortable with options than a streamlined govt. program. that's all.

i agree with that, but people wont take care of themselves. i work in healthcare and deal with morons who insist on smoking even when they're in the hospital every other week with breathing problems. and lets not forget the diabetics who refuse to properly regulate themselves or put down the snickers bar. as long as we have to take care of these people, then we need to find a responsible cost effective way to do it. especailly when private insurers refuse to pay.

It has to start with education. Check with your local school district and see the pathetic amount of PE/health education youngsters get today. Yet it is our fat, wealthy politicians who make the decisions regarding how much of both our kids get due to the old excuse of "no money". Health ed and PE should be at the forefront of all education. It also fascilitates better learning according to research. It is very basic.

i agee with you, but that wont help the current generation of middle age and elderly who are bankrupting the system now. you also know that if the government started mandating school cirriculums the loons would come out of the wood work saying they're socializing our schools. its a complicated issue with no easy solution, but in my mind the cost of inaction out weighs the cost of action. i would rather try something and fail than to sit back and do nothing at all.

Yes, no doubt in regards to the middle-aged/elderly. It is a touchy subject where variations from sector to sector would differ. In more conservative areas, people rely more on themselves to augment their healthcare, whereas in liberal areas there is more relying upon subsidies. Neither is right or wrong, but just different. I heard, however, one friend say he would work less hours if govt healthcare comes. This is good if he applies time to his children, but bad if he goes to the bar...
