  • Induction ???

  • Yea I'm pretty sure Nikola Tesla powered a town from 26 miles away during the turn of the century. Why would anyone who knows jack shit about history be impressed with this glorified charge bay? It's not even that special! You exchange a 2 oz. cord for a "this is really heavy" charge bay that probably costs a fortune!

  • @GiveMeClarity I think your distance is a bit off, as in KM vs Mi. But the point your getting at is absolutely true. This isn't anything new. But the question is: If a company wants to sell their cheaply made product and profit without worry of someone else stepping in, what do you do? You purchase the patents to all the relevant materials.

  • I've been waiting for this for a Lawn Mower, something I wished I invented..

  • if tesla still alive, he will cry..

  • @MrLockman89 He rolled over in his grave when they said "Years and years in development."

  • When Nikola Tesla did this (transport power over 600 miles away) in 1908 they thought and still think he was retarded!!!

  • @Qoolman1 Sh*t, I should do more research, it's not easy to remember History class over 15 years ago, I hope that this is the future for Lawn Mowers, maybe there's time to work it out and put in a patent.

  • We have to see the power transmission efficency compared to a normal connected cable...

  • Finally, Nicola Tesla's dream is coming true

  • I wonder if they came up with some attachment that can run wireless electricity for household appliances. Say, a fridge, or stove. I'm guessing it is not safe, or maybe I'm wrong.

  • are you that lazy you have to move your fridge around next to the couch and bed or something?

  • I am just curious if that is possible. You only plug in your stove and fridge once. So, laziness has nothing to do with it.

  • Well most likely the amperage and voltage needed is above the limitations of this technology at this time. If you notice most of their applications are withing an inch or two of the conductors.. much more than that and your efficiency is going to be much to high to commercially produce that product.... But yeah, it could work...

  • That would be very unsafe and a lot of electricity would be lost. This technology is based in radiation and reception, but they try the best to concentrate the radiation in just 1 spot. If you stand next to a TV emision station you could feel the radiation. As you go far from there the distance makes the signal weak because of the radiation. So this technology is based in having the electronics just next to the power radio emisories.

  • Can I set it to cook like induction cooker? =P

  • will this fix that rat's nest of cables under my desk?

  • Induction...

  • tesla invented this TIME ago

  • Tesla is god

  • @Daniel9787 Well he did :) but how long distances will it be effective?

  • @Daniel9787 I believe the biggest thing he was trying to do was "ring" the earth. Wasn't he trying to ring the earths ionic or magnetic fields like a bell so that it could be picked up inductively anywhere on the planet? Essentially turning the whole planet into a charging station like in the video.

  • This isn't using microwaves. It's induction, it is perfectly safe and yes it has been around for AGES. Including in electric toothbrushes. The same induction is what makes transformers possible.

  • really simple induction device is the voltage tester. its like a plastic stick which glows if its very close to an electric current like power cables or even a tv

  • autobots?

  • really awesome.... finally electricity comes wireless

  • thats dangerous: microwaves do that kind of thing and people still get paranoid about the waves. Even though they are sheilded.

  • wasn't that technology already in toothbrushes ten years ago? Whats the difference between this and that crusty old electric toothbrush in my bathroom?

  • The toothbrushes needs for the "spikes" to be pushed into the holes inside the toothbrushes

  • I think the "spike" is more for mechanical stability purposes than to aid conductivity. They could have easily just used a magnet instead (see Palm Pre's Touchstone)

  • I'm not really that geeky XD Dunno much about this stuff. Just making a hypotenuse

  • Err...I think the word you're looking for is "hypothesis" ;)

  • Woops I'm using spell check. Anyhow click =P

  • Now that Seems Helpful...man No more Plugging up Stuff...UGH!!!!

  • im glad they're making these things. its a bitch charing stuff with wires going everywhere

  • That's what she said.

  • lol that didnt make sense

  • Cool!
