when u put the blanket on your horse i suggest to put it up a bit higher than normal and slide it down into its normal spot so that if any hairs are sticking up they will be brushed down with the way his/her hair goes so they dont irritate him/her
@Kancelledu there are riding stables every ware im sure you can find the right one also its not nessary to put your hand in there mouth now this is just how hes trianed but most horses u can just wait tell they drop the bit then remove it hope that helps
good video. definetly one of the better ones. allthough the cross ties are an english tradition, with western the horse had to stand when the lead rope is dropped. the logic being that there might not be anything available to tie the horse to. but if they prefer it good for them nothing wrong with it. the saddle fit also. i see a lot of people let the saddle rest on the top of the withers. there should be at least two finger space between the sasddle and the top of withers.
Very detailed, I just have one or two things about the bridling process. Dropping the reins on the ground like that is very dangerous, because it the horse spooks and bolts forward, he could step on the reins and get caught or break them. Second, putting the bit against the horse's teeth is discouraged, especially for beginner riders, which is the target audience for this video. They aren't experienced enough with a bridle to not smash it roughly against the teeth. Still a great video, though!
@Thoroughbred17 the dropping of the reins is part of western riding though. if the horse is trained properly western when the rein is dropped it should stand there and wait. I do understand your concern though.
i was trying to show my friend how to saddle through the sintch and lock it like a belt... but the saftey knot will not fly around where we ride. the knot is not safe enough and for someone to look this up online that has no clue what they are doing will most likley scew up with the knott and get hurt
for u who said the pad shouldnt be pulled up like that, it actually should. it dusnt matter bout the distance between the pad and saddle if its pulled up nd there Is room underneath. u shouldnt put pressure on the withers and shoulders, so thats wut ur rele looking at
this video is awsome Conny and Sam thanx finally some1 could show me step by step how to tack up western i always struggle with the western girth gd job guys =D

And get rid of the damn bit you dont need it it hurts the horse! how would you like metal pulling your gums back huh? you wouldnt how about i rip your wisdom teeth out and put a bit in your mouth and ride you?
would u shutup its not like they r abusing the horse with it geez its how some horses are trained and plus if people were hurting horses with the bit there would be no bits to use
You should'nt just throw the saddle on the horse. It can spook the horse. Also, it is not so good to just tie the latigo, because that can easily come undone. But good job on the rest...sorry if I am being a tad bossy.
Yourstupid you all are.....you want your horse to know shit will happen things will flop hats will fly off your head......you know shit about horses go learn buddy!
Yourstupid you all are.....you want your horse to know shit will happen things will flop hats will fly off your head......you know shit about horses go learn buddy!
cont.. Also there is usually holes in the latigo and you can use those instead of making a knot because in my experience of many miles and hours in the saddle it slips with a knot. I also think you should walk around and carefully let the stirrup down so it does not hit the horse in the side and "hurt" them or scare them. Just some common curtosy for your horse.
This is an ok video..however i do notice that there is a farely large gap in between the horses withers and the pad. The pad is also almost touching the tree of tree of the saddle. Also i think you need to address more on the cinch, ie. making sure the two rings and the middle of the cinch is in theh middle of the horse by adjust the other side of the cinch not just the latigo side.
Shouldn't she metion checking the girth making sure it's not too loose or tight? You don't want your saddle to slip or put a ton of pressure, either way you will have terrible control of your horse. I myself have suffered the consequences of loose girths and have seen many accidents due to too tight girths.
if ur loosing ur balance if there is a loose cinch u have bad balance not to be mean or anything i ride with a loose girth when they belote their bellys and im not slipping at all
first of all your supposed to use a blanket then the pad then the saddle and your not supposed to tighten the cinch all at one time your supposed to do it 3 times 1.wrap it around 2-3 times then walk away and put the bit in then tighten it agian then put the breast coller on then tighten it one last time then thats about it well thats just how my rideing teacher does it and you dont really need to take the halter off or tie him up with 2 ropes just tie him on a fence useing the quick relese knot
from 1:44 and continuing, when she starts doing up the cinch/girth, could you do another video when she's NOT in the way, and standing so you can't see what she's doing? thanks alot....
I Really Don't Like Western Reins....The Ones With The Knot In The Middle....I Like English Reins Better, But Whenever I Ride Western Everyone Says I Ride Like I'm English....Lol. I Guess It's My Posture...

@HondaMotoXChick XD, yeah. My riding instructor some times says cinch, girth or trot, jog, Canot, or lope XD. It eventually gets confusing.

You shouldn't plop the saddle down on the horse, as it startles the horse.
You have to gently lay the saddle on the back slowly. Otherwise, your horse won't enjoy being saddled up for the ride.

Some horses need more control, so you would use a bit to get that control.
