  • Cool!

  • You may also want to pick-up East bay grease on the rino label way back and still one of the best tower of power lps 1970

  • @november501 : Yeah, it is!!!

  • That dude on Tenor sax, next to Doc, has sat in with my band a couple of times. Tom Politzer. Great musician, they couldnt have done better. Bay Areaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! proud

  • This is wild! Whoever took this shot is up so close, to them, it is, as if, they were on stage with the group.

  • LOL

  • @THEHUNGRYVEGETARIAN I filmed this at Jazz Alley in Seattle. AWESOME venue! I've sat front row table before and that was WAY TOO CLOSE! I had horn spit on me, gross!!!

  • This is one of my all time favorites by Tower Of Power Thanks For sharing KTF

  • Sneaking suspiscion the audio lags by about a beat...

  • I think your brain is lagging behind the beat

  • Never heard of this group before tonight, but I have to have this! I love it:-)

    How many diferent versions are?

    best live version?

    best recorded version?

complete (as possible) band member line up for each of the above and what they did right that makes thier version the best?

    other stuff I might like?

  • Best recording has to be the original from the 1974 CD 'Back to Oakland'. You can still get on iTunes or find the CD.

  • there is a short lived fussion band called trio of doom they only made one album and only went on one tour but they pretty much just jam and improve you might like it.

  • So where's the REST of the tune? This is one of my all time fav TOP songs, the organ solo is just monstrous!

  • Doc slowed it up a bit i see.

  • Are these the dudes that played with huey lewis during the 80's.

  • Yes. The Tower of Power horns backed up Huey Lewis on the Fore and Small World CDs. Look up Tower of Power in Wikipedia. The horn or rhythm section have backed up many artists in concert or recordings.

  • Including "Graham Central Station"....

  • Yeah that looks like Roc with either a Conk or F bass by the headstock!

  • Hey was that Rocco on the bass???

  • Sure looks like Rocco

  • look at doc go

its a shame they couldnt play this at ravinia last august

  • Yea I was really bummed about that too. At least they did some of the really old, not as well known stuff too.

  • Almost 40 years ago I bought the album "Back to Oakland" and this is the song that hooked me on TOP; I've been a fan ever since. If you have never seen them live they are simply the best and I think the current line-up produces the best sound ever (thanks in part to sound man Ace Baker who is the best). I travel a couple of times a year to see them as they rarely play the SE. The new live DVD is excellent...video and sound quality are superb.

  • adolfo

  • That trumpet players name is Adolfo Acosta..or was it Adolpho. Anyhow, he's a great player.

  • Toooooo Damn FUNKY!!!!! I love it :-)

  • Doc don't do this one to much any more.

  • GO DOC GO!!

  • GREAT!!! My favorite song. Unfortunately this versio is too short.

Garibaldi playing is so fantastic. Best drummer ever!
