This is the first series of Gundam that I've ever watched, I'm currently halfway through destiny and it's awesome. I hope they release a HD version of destiny as well.
At the end of the day, if somebody asked me the yes or no question ''Do you like Gundam SEED?'' I would say yes, even though there are plenty of legitimate problems one can have with it. It didn't quite live up the the great potential it had, at times it feels very teen drama-ish, and a lot of the first half resembles an inferior version of the original series. But as a whole, I still think it's an entertaining series and like ZZ, at least it improved halfway through.
To the person that said something about yaoi, no Seed pilot is gay. There more yaoi based in Wing then in Seed. I am a Gundam fan, and I love Seed, then Wing, then 00 or G. And all main character are made to look like Gods.

Gundam Seed killed the gundam franchise for me waaay back then; I never really knew why but I really don't like it. Gundam 00 would come around and spark my interest again gladly.

This so-called remaster is a double edge sword. While the footage is upscaled, it's also cropped to 16:9 meaning the top and bottom part are cut away. I took screenshots of the original to compare.

@MdandThcrew I'll say I enjoyed 00 pre Trans-AM. Certainly had a 08th MS Team feel to it. I'll also say I certainly do like Exia, 00R and 00Q's mech designs. Plotwise, it just falls off. As for AGE, yes, I enjoy it far more than Seed ever did. Badass Captain, nearly as awesome as Bright Noa, a main character who whines less than 2 of Destiny's protagonists? I'm unashamed to call myself an AGE fan. 11 episodes and it has a stronger plot than all of Seed/Destiny combined.

Yes, AGE is good... so far... but better hold off your judgements on it up until the series ends. Your comment about pre Trans-AM says that you probably thought of 00 as jackshit after that with Trans-AM being overpowered or something like that. Then you probably got thrown off with the idea of aliens as primary antagonists in the movie.

I really don't understand Sunrise's logic with this... why remaster SEED when it's not even ten years old yet? If you're going to remaster something, why not an older series (i.e. Wing, G, X)? I mean, I know the Origin Project is in production, but...

But what I truly want Bandai to do are...
1. Remaster and finish Gundam X as a 50 episode series. Don't care if it gets re-written or even reanimated, that damn series deserves some damn loving... seriously!
2. Rewrite some of SEED's plot to make it more dramatic
@GenesicShinZyraelKai The point I was trying to make was that SEED (at least animation-wise) doesn't really NEED to be remastered. What Bandai should be prioritizing is doing something along the lines of what they did with Zeta's New Translation movies or what they will be doing with The Origin: remaking older series like G or X with more up-to-date animation. SEED was basically the first series to have this generation (SEED, 00, AGE)'s animation style, so it doesn't need a remastering just yet.
@Umbrametus they're probably doing it just to see if a destiny remake is good idea (which we all know it is) or more likely just to cash in on an old series, i mean think of the gunpla sales this could set off.
@detectiveconan996 Cosmic Era has a lot of potential to become as large or larger even than the Universal Century. Destiny's poorly written plot and weak character developments ruined it. But Destiny still had a lot of potential in it, specially with the Destiny Plan.

@MdandThcrew I'll say I enjoyed 00 pre Trans-AM. Certainly had a 08th MS Team feel to it. I'll also say I certainly do like Exia, 00R and 00Q's mech designs. Plotwise, it just falls off. As for AGE, yes, I enjoy it far more than Seed ever did. Badass Captain, nearly as awesome as Bright Noa, a main character who whines less than 2 of Destiny's protagonists? I'm unashamed to call myself an AGE fan. 11 episodes and it has a stronger plot than all of Seed/Destiny combined.

Yes we get the whiny pilot and such, but do note the boy wasn't a man of war nor was his family torn apart by war neither did he experience anything traumatic relating to war. Add to that he got thrown into something he didn't like while fighting to kill or be killed against his best friend over and over again. And finally he killed people in order to survive and save the military's sorry ass which should be what the military was doing for him. :3

Yes, AGE is good... so far... but better hold off your judgements on it up until the series ends. Your comment about pre Trans-AM says that you probably thought of 00 as jackshit after that with Trans-AM being overpowered or something like that. Then you probably got thrown off with the idea of aliens as primary antagonists in the movie.
But hopefully you're enjoying AGE as much as I am. Just motherfucking hope Bandai doesn't kill off Yurin but Emily instead... :3

I personally like the line-art of the Strike Gundam with all of it's Striker Packs/Sword, Launcher, and Aile combined onto it.
Otherwise, I really don't mind Seed getting a remastering. I also like the remake of Annani Issho Datta No Ni. I think that song got the kind of treatment that Escape from the City got in Sonic Generations/Will there be a single of the remade Annani Issho Datta No Ni?

@Umbrametus but SEED is 10 years old already... by 2012 that is... and wasn't Wing remastered already? Both the TV and EW versions of Wing were remastered sometime before from what I can remember...
But what I truly want Bandai to do are...
1. Remaster and finish Gundam X as a 50 episode series. Don't care if it gets re-written or even reanimated, that damn series deserves some damn loving... seriously!
2. Rewrite some of SEED's plot to make it more dramatic
3. Rewrite and reanimate Destiny.

@GenesicShinZyraelKai The point I was trying to make was that SEED (at least animation-wise) doesn't really NEED to be remastered. What Bandai should be prioritizing is doing something along the lines of what they did with Zeta's New Translation movies or what they will be doing with The Origin: remaking older series like G or X with more up-to-date animation. SEED was basically the first series to have this generation (SEED, 00, AGE)'s animation style, so it doesn't need a remastering just yet.

@detectiveconan996 Cosmic Era has a lot of potential to become as large or larger even than the Universal Century. Destiny's poorly written plot and weak character developments ruined it. But Destiny still had a lot of potential in it, specially with the Destiny Plan.

@bannedka666 Well,I think that it became popular because of nice Mobile Suit design and effort of the staffs which covered up bad parts that writer made.
The writer didn`t do anything but to make up terrible story and WASTE the budgets(Bigger than any other series)and put bunch of unneeded romance scenes. It`s funny that Voice actors and rest of the staffs hated Seed and was wishing that writer will leave.

She had a LOT of problems such as writing the plot too slowly.Which led to battle scenes full of recycles.
2nd of all,she is a huge yaoi(gay porn manga)and put yaoi influence in to SEED.
Which led to so many romance part.
And she treats her favorite characters like a god(Like Kira Yamato) and treats her unfavorite terribley (Shinn,Nicole)

@Salvysahagun nuh uhh.. the concept of the Destiny Plan is good as an antagonistic drive to obstruct freedom of choice in favor of achieving a Utopian kind of peace and sense of purpose humans seek as an individual. The execution though was terrible. The Destiny Plan works in a similar sense as to what Ribbons Almark tried to do but with a more diplomatic approach. :3

You can't please everybody and Bandai is pretty much aware of that, so they're just pleasing the fans of a certain series and not other gundam fans.
