  • I really love this guy's playing . Seen him a couple of times with Buddy Whittington he blew me away! For my money one of the best drummers out there ...

  • @stevemartinez45 Thanks for the comments Steve. I am back on tour with Buddy around Europe this April and May. I'm guessing the dates will be on his website. Come to a show and say hi!

  • nice grooving man, what kit is that? it sounds amazing!

  • @drummerboycraig Glad you enjoyed the tune! Its a Pork Pie Kit made from Cherry and Bubinga. Sizes are 10,12,16 toms, 22 by 18 kick and 14 snare.

  • Yep - it's all in 4/4, but we hit the second 16th note in the bar.

So nothing on beat one, but a strong accent immediately after.

  • really good, what's the count at 1:21?

  • @karakanas37 drops a 16th rest on the downbeat, i think :D

  • esta muy muy muy bueno !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oops It must have pretty smooth transitions...l

  • @DhampirBoy Thank you for explaining that. Now that you explained it I do see that a lot in videos but this can also be done in the recording studio? I must have to be pretty smooth transitions then for the ear not to sense it. I am not up on all the new recording techniques. :-)

  • He is is really a good drummer. I know what overdubs are but what is "comping"? Thanks for posting.

  • @msfosella Comping is the term for the process of taking the best bits and pieces of all of the takes and combining them into one track. Dave saying that there is no comping just means that this clip was recorded in one continuous take. He didn't record Darby multiple times and then splice the best parts of multiple takes together.

  • Don't let him out of the studio!

  • wwoooow man! that´s really cool!

  • Awesome!!!!!!!

  • EBS TD650 straight in. Marcus miller fender 4 string, a little eq and compression in pro tools. The secret.... Is to set a mic up that points at your thumb. Picks up a v natural top end. :-))

  • @davemarks Sorry Dave but I can't understand how you set your mic. Can you explain please? Very great sound!!!

  • that was awesome

  • Nice fat pocket.

  • Basically just drums and bass grooving. Love it!

  • I am happy now, thank you ;)

  • are you di'ing with the EBS Dave

  • Great playing! Is there a music stand out of view? If not, then its even more frightening.

Love the adjustment of cans mid-take. Its up there with the Vinnie-specs-fiddling.

  • shame it wasnt in sinc.. sound / picture

  • EPIC

  • Groovy

  • They are indeed :-)))

  • Are those Hop Farm posters on the wall?

  • He's a great drummer, I caught him with Hot Leg a few years ago. Groove....
