I was brought in for a job selling kirbys they gave a demo something like that. After they said the price I lol'ed and just left. There is no way I could keep a straight face trying to sell a vacum cleaner for $2,500
He did a good demo, I sold them for a year, sold 124 machines and did not make much money at all..... There are bad dealers out there but there are also good people out there too. The Bad apple scenerio. I stopped selling them not because they are a bad machine but I often felt bad that I knew some people were not really able to afford that amount of money out of their budget at one time...
@cllumley A friend of mine worked for Norwest Financial (Wells Fargo) several years ago and he would write loans so people could buy a Kirby. Inevitably, he said they couldn't keep up with the payments and the bank repossessed the vacuum!
I mean this in the nicest way possible lol I worked for Kirby for about 6 years and you my friend are a dick haha I mean seriously you wasted this kids time to film Kirby's sales techniques lol that's messed up buddy.
@StompTheCourt I didn't waste his time; now he is "Internet Famous!" :-) Seriously, though, I was completely up front with him at the beginning -- guess he thought it was worth trying, maybe he could have "sold me."
Doesn't make any sense...okay, granted, the other vacuum has a brush roll which will chew up a pen. But the Sentria also has a brush roll. What's the difference? Other vacuum has one hole which sucks air...so does the Sentria. So how is the Sentria any better than the generic vac? He makes an error in logic by pointing out supposed flaws in the other vacuum while neglecting to show how the Kirby overcomes those flaws.
i paid 100 bucks for my sentria plus the 50 dollar vacuum. And yes it was from a kirby sales guy. So i got lucky. I used to sell them also. I love'em!!!!
Kirby salesmen are nothing but low down con artist and filthy liers. Who ever would buy a kirby is absolutely crazy. It still uses a gross bag that clogs. I have a Rainbow a absolutely love it because ever thing goes into my water basin and isn't sprayed back into the air like the kirby does
I am a current Kirby Slinger!!! and love my job sell bout 5 a week!! the secreat is..the people that talk all the mad shit bout it being a scam..well there the ones that fell off..see Kirby says to hire 20 people a week, and only one outta every 20 will make it.. :) so the ones talking shit prob only lasted a week or 2 right?> yes! me iv been it it for 2 years now and..doing well in life thanks..just had to put that out there!!!
I sell the Health Mor Defender and Majestic and during our training class, we've learned that while it picks up surface dirt and dust it does not remove EVERYTHING. In fact if you notice during the demos that Kirby is not BY LAW supposed to put the bag in for you and they pretty much just drag dust from one house to the next. Also, both bags have tiny microscopic little holes that in reality just blow the dust right back into the air. And what comes up must obviously come down, right?
Yes you can welcome me LOL I love my kirby and IMO if we would have spent the money on the Kirby in the first place then we would not have had to purchase 5 vaccumes over the course of the first ten years of marriage. Last two years we have had a Kirby and it has been the best vaccume ever.
let me guess u told your friend to go along wit everything u said , so u can look good , this is not what people do when they r giving a real demo , your fake n you give out false information, i mean i should know i worked for kirby i know the tricks u guys do, its pathetic,,
@discolights07 Do you mean the guy giving the demo was being fake? No -- I don't know him; I don't even remember his name. I told him at the start I wasn't going to buy it but he still tried to sell it to me. What did he do/say that was incorrect?
Wow, this makes me hate Kirby even more. We were trained to say exactly all these things. NEVER BUY FROM KIRBY. The machine itself works great, but the distributors are offal! they miss treat all their employees!
I almost got roped into their game. I went in for an interview and the secretary told me it was an electric company type deal........get to the second half and we're talking about vacuums...wtf? lmao
I saw this demo yesterday and they were indeed doing it for a contest! i didn't purchase it, but the presentation lasted well over 2 hours and i was SOOO happy to see them pack that thing up and leave.
Kirby is a great, great product - but markup is ridiculous (Distributors pay 300-600$ for them and sell them for 2,000$+ ) and the company has a reputation for using deceitful techniques both in it's hiring/employment and sales. My advice? Purchase one online for a few hundred bucks and avoid all that hassle. -Former Kirby Salesman
Are you in the California bay area? I could swear this is the same guy who came by my place selling Kirby. This time he was trying to get a cruise vacation.
@xamindar No, I am just north of Los Angeles near Six Flags Magic Mountain. I suppose it could be the same guy. Unfortunately, I cannot recall his name.
When he said that they sell at least 5000 to 7000 a day? That would make me not trust him.Lol!! The last I heard Kirby sells are really low.THEY ARE ALWAYS DOING A CONTEST.Haha!! Good selling pitch.
what this vid doesnt show is that in most cases even if you do sell a 2000 grand kirby to a customer...the salesman's commission depends on the customers credit score....soooo the salesman gets peanuts if in most cases the person has bad credit rating and the company gets paid their eventual 2 grand and they say thank ya by taking ya out for a little trip once in awhile
Ive never had a demonstration, but i own a G5 and Heritage 2 legend, got both vac's for 200$ but i can understand they probuly get paid on comission, more they sale the more they make
@TrooperSam I agree, he was a great salesman and I appreciated his presentation. I understand the haggling process, but I never actually intended to purchase the vacuum, even for $800. :-)
@iamdoctorious I sold Kirby's for a year. The business revolves around overcharging customers. If sold in stores they would retail for $499, but because the dist. manager, regional manager, distributor, the van crew manager and the sales man wants/needs to make money on the deal they over charge. The Kirby could be sold for $2500 today and sold in a garage sell tomorrow for $150 about what its worth.
That guy was good at his job, indeed. You just needed to perform your end of the deal and haggle with him, and you could have had the Kirby for a LOT less, and been quite happy with it.
Being able to successfully haggle with him probably could have netted you that machine for $800...that's how much I paid for ours after the salesman demonstrated it.

I'll just get a Dyson DC25, which is FAR superior to the Kirby, and save myself $2,045.
