  • I have what the Dr's think is RA. I have cut citrus, wheat, nightshades, processed foods completely from my diet. I am on 20 mg of prednisone and 600 mg of gabapentin 3 times a day. I am some better but it may be from the prednisone i feel better. I could really use some further help. I welcome any advice you can give me! My knees have some fluid on them and my crp and esr levels are high. I test neg for RA factor but this i guess is not conclusive test.

    Thx!

  • Write to me for free information on how to cure RA.

  • @drmcdougallmd Hi Dr., I have had RA for more than 15 years and have tried elimination diet a few times but gave up because I could never achieve dramatic pain relief unless I am the water fast. Any advice will help. Many thanks. Jenny

  • I have RA and am on so much medication. I'm mot even 30 and it's been about 4 years since my symptoms started. It's only gotten worse. I need to visit this website.

  • @NaturalDarkChocolate smoke marijuana

  • I talked to couple of strangers that had RA said to me eliminate hydrogenated oil, all forms of sugar, even sugary fruit, processed food. SO i was kinda doing that on my own for 6 months now, i went back and forth a lot, but i finally have a grip on it. I also pay attention to the genotype diet. You can't just buy a book by someone and go with it, there really is no single answer, ppl react to different foods. You have a keep a food diary and find out what works best for you. Also bikram helped

  • I have RA, it was really bad, i was on 20mg mtx a week, 50mg enbrel a week. after changing my diet, a started eliminating dairy, gluten, and then wheat, citrus, eggs, i have been feeling well, off my mtx for 4 months now, reduced my enbrel to 25 a week. im doing bikram, also running 3 x a week. Whenever it get cold outside, or i get a little flare up i fast for a day only on greens and water. I was bed ridden last year for 4 months, was not able to walk a year, all my joints were swelled up,

  • I love this because it confirms my experience. I was diagnosed at 26 with Rhuematoid Arthritis but also refused medication and began paying attention to what I was eating. I found that the worse pain came when I had hydrogenated oils. Within wks. of eating only foods that didnt have these oils I felt better and with in a couple months all pain was completely gone. I am 46, and still no pain!

  • altho there's limited space to say what i want to say...i have this disease, congenitally, nearly 40 years now. it's slowly killing me by attacking every joint and multiple organs. do u not think i have tried everything from diet to acupuncture to medicine to meditation to prayer to any quack possible answer? desperate ppl try everything. if it were as simple as this, no one wld hv this evil disease. it's meanspirited false hope, and to ignore it by thinking veggies cure it is dangerous

  • Eating certain foods or avoiding certain foods may help your rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. However, according to the Arthritis Foundation, there is no specific "arthritis diet." On the other hand, if you find certain foods worsen your rheumatoid arthritis symptoms and others help your symptoms to improve, it makes sense to make some adjustments in your diet.

  • Wish these kinds of vultures would say what they really mean..."I'm not a rheumatologist, in fact, as family physician, I have little to no training in immunology, but I'll use my MD credentials to espouse my personal beliefs and make side income." This has been all debunked over and over again. The only study that has shown any dietary affect showed only modest improvements with a gluten-free vegan diet. Leaky-gut is not science, and I can't believe a physician would espouse this.

  • @i'm therealFifi you sound like a physician from the 1850s denying the existence of infectious microbes. you have turned science into a religion.

  • @datzfast no sir/madam, it is u who turns to false hope and religion. i've followed this diet for years. i still believe it's the most moral, ethical, and intelligent diet to follow for many many reasons. HOWEVER, it does not CURE arthritis, particularly the type i have. still dedicated to the diet, but it's NO CURE. i've gotten worse, not better. not b/c of the diet, but b/c of disease progression. inflammation and auto-immunity is much more complex than this. i hope u do not hv this evil dis.

  • I wish I had known about this 10 years ago. My dad died at age 49 of a viral infection that spread because of his immune-suppressing RA medication. In retrospect, he had a lousy diet and could have lived a long, healthy life with a good one. After reading some of Dr. McDougall's books, "The China Study" and "Healthy at 100," I'm following Dr. McDougall's diet now because I'm determined to avoid chronic disease and live to enjoy my own grandkids.

  • @deadeyedick1933 thats terrible, have you considered contacting an attorney

  • @datzfast Long story short – yes, a top malpractice/injury firm took the case, but the hospital had destroyed its records (he was sedated and intubated, and died when a nurse accidentally pulled out his breathing tube). They decided there wasn't enough evidence of malpractice to pursue a suit, so we moved on. So much for "tort reform" when good law firms can't pursue legitimate cases.

  • Hello! Have you tried intellectus 424 diet (do a google search)? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate lost crazy amounts of weight with it.

  • My friend benefited from drinking aloe vera gel, although I really am a great believer in the dietary changes too. It makes sense that what we put into our bodies affects us for better or worse.

  • i've RA. they advised methotrexate.didn't suit. NSAIDs cauzd ulcers.the nephrologist advised stopped medicines n gave meprazol.pain kept increasin n made me bedridden 4 2yrs.then i wz advised leflonamide wid mits, calcium, vitamin D supplement, multivitamins(cuz medicine made me dizzy and nauseatic).physiotherapy helped. beef,mutton,lentils,chickpeas,citrusy/tangy fruits, some nuts specially pistachio, peanuts, cashio nuts, hot n cold humid weather, exertion, stress n lack of sleep trigger pain.

  • i am very intrested in the imformation that you have to offer please tell me where i can get more information please God Bless

  • I have been doing chi healing on a friend with severe arthritis and she is now in remission, if u know of a chi healer give it a go :). Oh and ive chi a few people (never for money) :)

  • @MrHairlossnomore never mind i see it now sorry i was looking down the list rather than at the top :)

  • I have seen a lot of posts on this from people who are negative and probably for very good reason but I just want to say, don't give up. RA can go into remission, weather drug induced or diet induced. I was in remission for 20 yrs (thanks to a change in diet) and though my RA is back and diet has not helped this time I am still hopeful that it will go away again and thankful for each and every day that I feel good. Stay positive and do what you can to change the course of your disease.GL

  • @ellesbells77

You are the first comment that I have read thats really positive and hopeful. I am glad to hear you were in remission for 20 YEARS?? That is GREAT news. I have been looking at videos and how people with RA end up with complications in 10-15 years. I am ALL worried about this now. I have RA and just cry all the time. Please tell me your diet that helped you for so long....thanks...

  • Hello after hearing all the successful stories from this programme I will definitely try all the good ideas that shows me how to cure. I have been diagnosed from last 3 weeks and its a first time i have this problem. I been frustrating, even crying on my sleep coz its really not nice diesease. Can i ask whether bread is good

  • oh right, i hadn't watched the whole video before making that last comment.

  • it must be what they are 'not' eating or avoiding that is helping prevent the autoimmunological response.. if only we could narrow it down!!

  • Very informative video, thank you. I'll apply some things myself to my life. I have found raw vegan food diet and wheatgrass juice consumption useful in managing my arthritis.

  • Rheumatoid arthritis is caused by bacterial, microbial infections, long term low dose antibiotics along with proper diet and excercise will virtually destroy the arthritis. You only need to look on the internet to see all of the successful stories antibiotics has achieved, but you won't see many doctor's advocating this treatment, they only get paid the big bucks to perform expensive, needless surgeries. Their checks aren't as big when they prescribe antibiotics.

  • Pleae try UNIVERA product call XTR and Regenicare. I know many people who got better by this natural products. friend who had RA for 20 yrs... she is out of medication now..

  • @carolanivey I wouldn't so blindly trust the drug co. Its big biz. I'm starting this diet tomorrow because after having RA for many years I started enbrel 8 weeks ago and I feel like I want to die I've never felt more toxic or sick in my life. Everyone thinks its a miracle drug but it works by obliterating your immune system that sounds like death to me. It has done nothing for my pain.

  • @cloudswhite maybe its your BITTER attitude and your pessimism that makes your bones hurt ! Diet is only one part of it. I've had RA for 30 years. It only takes a blood test to diagnose. She said she went to a rheUmatoligst or did your bad attitude and pessimism drown that out. Your bone hurt because your BITTER get it ??

  • Hello! I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis Sense I have been two years old.. been on every drug out there finally found on that worked but not to make me 100% my ankles still hurt a lot and i have problems with my vision I think i might try this out!! I hate dieting and dont need it but if it will really help why not!! I Ned a cure!

  • i need a cure for this my best friend has this type of arthritis any tips will help ill do anything to help him.

  • @118candyman read my comment below Chi healing it is true and worked, my friend is amazed by how well she is now, I go once a week to c her. :)

  • @MrHairlossnomore sorry mate i cant seem to find it any chance you could post it again or private message it to me? It would be much appreciated.

  • @118candyman i had a factor of 695 very painful changed my diet and workout every day now i wrk again with minimal pain fight through the pain it works good luck be there for your friend .

remember push through the pain doctors cant beleive im yhe same person . ps try this before you take the meds

  • I'm a RA patient. This bad decease was with me for more than 4 years. I had methotrexate, diclofenac sodium, methylprednisolone, hydroxychloroquine sulfate and sulphasalazine, naproxen. The only thing I got was a temporally pain relief and bunch of side effects. My black hair got white. skin rashes, more frequently getting caught to colds. Less of apatite, GI disorders even hemorrhoids.

I knew that there will be a solution being with the nature. From today onwards I’ll be on this.

  • I have something happening to me and so far my doc can`t find anything..meanwhile its spreading to my other joints..it started in my right knee, then my other joints.all in less then 3 months..they did find something in my blood, either inflamtion or infection ..but i fear if this isn`t found what it is i won`t be doing much of anything by the end of the year.i now have 8 joints afected . Ive changed my diet 100%ive started to work out even though i hurts like hell. i also take nat inflam pills

  • Phyllis cured her rheumatoid arthritis??? I doubt she had it. Show us pictures of your crippled joints, (your hands/joints do NOT show any signs of Rh.)and show us how that was reversed. Aching joints and muscles do not necessary indicate Rh. Just because your MD said it is does not mean it is true. Ever hear how many people are misdiagnosed??? There is some truth in what is being said about RH, but we are Vegans (30yrs) and my wife has terrible Rh, so much for the diet.

  • @cloudsowhite hey i been having this cracking noises on my knees the muscle that attach the knee to the feet feel like if i had a cold i don't have any pain just the noises and sometimes alil swelling im already taking inflammatory medicine and it doesnt work the doctor prescribed it to me she did not even did xrays she just gave me the medicine i was wondering if this could be Rh

  • I have been a Vegan for 6 years and I have had RA for 2 years so I totally understand your questions and what your wife is going through. When I found out about the allergens I went on an all fruit diet but I found that bananas caused joint pain and swelling as well. I recently tried an herbal detox called Organic Total Body Cleanse (WholeFoodsMarket) and for the first 4 days it triggered all of my symptoms but after that I could eat tomatoes, bananas, peppers, etc again. Your wife should try

  • hi im 25 and lately i have been experiencing pain in my knees and it seems to get worse by the day. i have noticed it gets really bad in cold weather. the thing is i work

in construction and im self employed so if i cant walk i cant provide my family. I do eat a lot of cerial, sweetcorn, milk and sugary stuff. the question i want to ask is should i stop eating those things to better my knees ????? thanks in advance

  • @duncanvella hello, Im an acupuncturist and read your message, thought I might give my advice. From what you have told me, it seems like theres cold accumulation in the knees and possible Kidney deficiency (this is all Asian medicine terms). I will advise that you definitely avoid sweet food as well as cold foods. Try to have warm foods instead, especially for breakfast, such as pumpkin soup, congee, steamed vegies etc. Do not over work or stand for too long as this weakens the Kidney.

  • @duncanvella too much sexual activities can also damage the Kidney. Otherwise, always keep your knees as well as your lower back(kidney area) warm. dont wear short trousers. This is the advice I can give you, you may decide to see an acupuncturist nearby from where you are, or any other health related practitioners

  • Diet alone does not cure RA. It might make you feel better, which is always a good thing. But cure the underlying disease? No. This is a malfunction of the immune system, not a dietary deficiency. The drug companies are required to document everything that happens during a trial, even if it's not clear the drug caused it. I don't know anyone who's come down with lymphoma b/c of Enbrel, and I know a large number of RA patients on it.

  • I know orange juice & bell pepper trigger the pain/my case of lupus & fibromyalgia/

    and wheat, tomatoes, beans  and etc. now I feel better after I did eliminate that food from my diet, I feel free for ever;

  • *feel.

  • will this work if the patient has been under RA for almost 7 years and has this been clinically proved? Have any of your patients got worse by trying this? please reply to this soon. My mother has already tried taking something similar to as chemotherapy to heal her. Though it ends up it just relieved the pain and then came back the same way it was before.

  • Checkout the new song 'Spilling Our Blood For War' on Youtube.

  • i can not believe citrus iis bad Can you give more information? Do u mean citrus like orange lemmon lime and so for?

  • @kentucy 9999 Of course changing the way you eat will affect an Auto-Immune disease. When a substance is introduced into a body that has a sensitivity or allergy to that substance, the body mounts an immune response. When the body is continuously exposed to the allergen (lets say gluten) the body has to use everything it has to fight the allergen and keep the body well... In short it doesn't have time to take care of anything else.

  • I don't have the disease I think but I'm going through these comments because my mom does and it really saddens me that people suffer from such a disease, especially the 16 yr old. Life is harsh, and it has no manual or instruction to live completely healthy. I hope the wealth of information I've attained from these videos will help in my mother's recovery. God should have created us all to be vegetarians.

  • Wow this video inspired me ...Im gonna change my diet now!!! Fruits and vegies...

  • Can Rheumatoid Arthritis be linked to Leaky gut Syndrome

  • My wife was diagnosed with RA last year in August after 4 months of increasing joint pain. We asked if food would help and it was met with a wall of rejection by her rheumatologist.

In October of that same year, I began to have sore feet, then shoulder, then swollen hands. Had the test for Rheumatoid factor, which is high and Anti CCP is high also. After two visits to my specialist, it's inconclusive. Anyone heard of this happening to two people months apart before. Specialists are not phased.

  • @LeonVerhulst Assuming you two eat the sample diet it can be linked to what youre eating. Look up IgG food sensitivities and see the horror of what it can cause. (source, I had colitis and arthritis)

  • @LeonVerhulst NO fruits and vegetables which consist of lots of cellulose, no oily food, no fried food but grilled, boiled FAT FREE one; (do eat soft-boiled eggs) No butter, No alcohol. Do drink lots of tap water & almost all sorts of tea (2 L per day AT THE VERY LEAST). Neither coffee Nor chocolate are allowed. No sharp spices, almost no sauce, DO EAT wheat bread. one word for it all: DIETARY food. and last but not least: KINETOTHERAPY 4 all joints, and FITNESS to prevent excess weight. :)

  • @DM2009DM OK. so is there anything i CAN eat? hahaha.

  • @cooledog95 That's what doctors preach. You just need to focus on dietary food, that's all. I still smoke and drink coffee ...and actually eat whatever I want to, whenever I want to....with a bit less fat and a bit more fruits....and more vitamins. That's the only change I've made so far. And I do gymnastics.... (swimming would be perfect but no can swim.....yet!) and I must admit I fell better.....and I'd feel even better if I gave up cigarettes and coffee. Damn addiction!

    Any progress yet?

  • Actually, I agree with this video. I'm gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar free and feel wonderful. There are many selections to choose from in stores such as Sprouts, Henrys and Whole Foods. If you stay committed for at least 3 months, you will notice a considerable difference.

  • @kentucy9999 Good point man. im 16 years old and i have arthritis and stills desease. will this diet really help me? i cant do anything my friends do and im failing school because i can walk properly. i used to take methatrexate but now i take Anakinra which is an injection. i hate life man. my doctor says this is never going to go away. im only fucking 16.

  • Shred...............sorry to hear that. Don't give up. My fundamental point was simply that adding or subtracting a few things from your diet was not going to change a major medical disorder. It could help a little bit I suppose. If someone eats pizza and candy bars all day I don't imagine that is very positive....I had a friend who went on a STRICT diet via a nutrionist which helped him ALOT. It was a very strict diet though. Big Time!! I'd look into it. Take Care my friend.

  • @SmallTimeShred i completely understand i was diagnosed when i was 22.... write down what you eat and you will notice the pain is worse when you eat lots of dairy and hydrogenated oil and saturated fats...eat fish and leafy greens, trust me you will notice the difference

  • @SmallTimeShred Love life! Life is yours for free and pain free! Please visit the gerson.o r g website. Also nutrition will change your disorder in your body. You must be committed to eating whole, raw vegitables and finding out what food allergy you might have. There is a cure. Search and you will find. The gerson institute has been in effect for more than 60 years curing people of cancers, and degenerative diseases. Look and do! God Bless You!!!

  • @SmallTimeShred I understand the pain it gets u deep inside Ive had it for like 5+ years and im only 32 its affecting everything including trying to work you get no benefits if your body is ok the day u see them when its bad like you say i cant walk,I feel my body burning up and drained and very depressed not enough is done to support us at such a young age!!!!!

  • its a known fact that people who type in youtube comments like "my threshold of pain is up in the moon somewhere" are headcases

  • That's it gerry? That is your comment?

  • what you wantin, a fuckin novel ya daft cunt

  • Thanks Gerry. I'll file that away. Ummm, Gerry. You're supposed to capitalize the first word in a sentence. I'm not sure what "daft" means? Is that one of those funky British words? It means smart I believe.

  • @kentucy9999 daft means stupid...

  • @MrJasonSmarts .......You ought to know Jason.

  • @kentucy9999 haha whats your problem? i was just letting you know the meaning of the word.. haha

  • @MrJasonSmarts .........British word I believe Jason. Heard it a number of times in old Beatle films. A Hard Day's Night and all that.........I have rheumatoid arthritis. It is pretty severe at times. This "diet" cure is a bunch of BS. If eating grapes and staying away from Equal would help me very much I'd be eating grapes by the truckload every day. It is BS.

  • Arthritis is inflammation. Look at things that cause inflammation. Refined sugars, glutens, Dairy. Maybe even GMO's like corn The best thing you can do for your body is consume as much fresh raw foods as possible. Vegan. I used to get a lot of joint pain from breads. Shooting pains in my wrists. I also used to have chronic low back pain, headaches, depression, etc.. All gone. I eat mostly fruits for breakfast, lunch. Dinner could be a giant salad or a vegetable dish. Occasionally I eat quinoa.

  • @angelbe88 Great...

  • I have SEVERE RA. I am on Methotrx, Arava, Plaquenil AND Enbrel (an shot). My knees and hips are damaged, but my meds keep my RA from progressing faster.

Having said that, I have ALSO tried the dietary route (which is very DIFFICULT), and it DID HELP!!! I am aware of the Leaky Gut causation theory for RA, and honestly, I sort of believe it. As we speak, I am also treating myself for Leaky Gut Syndrome. People don't have to choose one or the other. See what works for you.

  • i have had RA for 18 months. i already need my hip replacing and have lost alot of the use of my hands.i also happen to be finishing my PhD in human molecular biology in which i specialise in immunology. although the cause is unknown it is definitely not diet. thankgod i live in the UK where we all get good treatment for free and thankgod for the scientists and ARC who developed the antiTNF treatments that are helping me now. the FACT is this a complex autoimmune disease.this docter isan idiot

  • Is this helpful in all types of Arthritis? I guess there are lot of types of Arthritis.

  • This made me mad watching this video, im a sufferer of RA, docs as sed dont know a cause, and this doesnt cure arthritis, it may imporove the symptoms, but dont believe the things ppl say, cause sometimes its not true... and unless he has it how does he know how it feels? take it from someone who has severe arthriis and please dont believe this. im on methotrexate, sulphazalazene, diclofenac and folic acid to stop my liver from getting affected. sorry but its true, but plz dont delete the post x

  • What happened when you eliminated the foods this diet says affect the liver and joints and cause pain and RA?

  • Comment removed

  • great video it explains lot of things, still you can find more info and remedies here herbaldetoxification, info

  • Comment removed

  • I cannot believe this doc says this is a dietary disease!!! Many doctors (DR. Weisman, UCLA director of rheumatology) has said "We still do not know the cause or causes of rheumatoid arthritis". I have tried this diet and had no relief whatsoever. Im hopeful for future research.

  • hello, i'm 18 and am very worried i may have this. i feel really confused. may i ask how long you had tried this diet before you stopped?

  • Hello

I am not catching what's the name of the drug she is saying and where can i get it ?

  • the name of medicin she used is Methotrexate but this kind of drugs have side effect on liver...so you must check your blood test weekly.....

  • methotrexate is the most effective RA drug, for a lot of people it works. It made me really sick so i was put on leflunomide, this didnt work so i tried anti-TNF (adalinumab). this didnt work so now i combine this with 20mg leflunomide... guess what, its working, i lost hope, these videos give false hope. i will have to take these forever but its reality, nothins easy especially debilitating diseases, i will have my hip replaced next year (im 30) i find mcdougalls diet insulting to my suffering

  • Im so very sorry to hear of your suffering.....I just want to the Dr yesterday because they think I have RA. If I do, I will treat it with diet......please give this a chance instead of the drugs......drugs cause even more problems....enbrel causes lymphoma....poss blood clot, stroke. Diet IS the answer. Look up Dr Johanna Budwig......

  • @katieshealinggarden i just went to the Dr. today and i'm getting all my blood work tomorrow, to check for RA - i saw McDougall speak live a few times many years ago... my dad bought his book many years ago... i'd like to give it a shot... whats worrisome is that I'M ALREADY A VEGAN and have been for 23 years!? so maybe i don't have RA... i hope!... but i may need to adjust my vegan diet away from some vegan foods like the lady in this video... thanks for your testimonial and budwig plug...

  • A good way to figure out the effects of health on your body is by keeping a health journal.

HealthSitter[dot]com is a great (and free) online health journal that's easy and fast to use. It tracks what you do and how it affects your health!

  • Healing of arthritis in hand: sleep laying on back on flat board under sheet 10 X 20 X .2 inches, from center of lower curve of back to neck. Soft sleep beds cause many heath problems by many harmful pressures onto the spine. The small discomfort of the flat board becomes many different healing joys. Pains disappear. Plexi plastic glass better than wood for flat board.

  • Along with a strict diet free of asidic fruits, asidic drinks, alcohol, Red meet, Cow's milk and a few other things, my mum takes a home-made medicen she read about in a book years ago. Its comprised of boiling hot water, Honey, Sider viniger and mallasis. Without it, she'd be bedriden. But now she leads a perfectly normal life.

  • Thank you for sharing this information, my mother is in bad shape. I will try this.

  • Earlier today I got a call from someone representing Remicaide. Well, she said I would have to come out with $1,000.00 out of pocket and then a 20% there after (not to mention the Dr's Office, testings, etc).

I told her that I don't care about the money, but I do about the side effects. So next time I see the Doc I'll tell him I won't take no infusions.

10 mg of daily prednisone is ok, so far so good; it's working.

  • drumstick( a plant which grows in tropical country) soup is very effective for RA.

  • im takin enbrel, metrotraxate , sulindac , & folic acid & im 17 & i have PRA

  • Breakthrough new product. Please view my videos.

  • It shows that a low fat vegan diet can cure rheumatoid arthritis whereas drugs don't.

  • sorry but low fat and vegan isn't a very healthy diet at all. You need a paleo style diet to ensure proper health.
