The Speaker should have heard the question without allowing the Rt Hon Winston Peters raising points of order. Mr Hide was not in violation of Standing Order 111(c) as he has not mentioned matters which have been brought before the courts. The Speaker is clearly playing politics with her position--thank God she's gone!

There were many occasions where Labour ministers never had to properly answer questions because she was sheilding them with the argument that they only have to "address" the question. No such crap from probably the most balance speaker of recent history Rt Hon Dr Lockwood Smith, who will pull up ministers who try to evade questions.

I did research today and found that the sub judice matter is not the one that Mr Hide was trying to ask about. The question, whilst involving similar players, was on a new and seperate matter. Winston Peters has made a latterday career from making accusations under parliamentary privilege and moral-high-groud campaigning, and now at last the public are seeing exposure of what he really is. I hope they finally get it. The Labour government's strategy of playing out the clock is shadey & shakey.
