  • I think he has beard extensions

  • @KodyRobinson1 Nah, like the Big Damn Band's music, the Rev's beard is genuine.

  • Best ever, Rev should have a jam with Morgon O'kane, that would truly be special, two amazing musos with similar attitudes....

  • Amazing guitar work Rev. Its a great little lesson, I have it in my favorites.

    Thanks!

  • both are tuned to dadgad i think he uses it a lot I just stumbled onto them a couple weeks ago, great stuff,

  • 2:05 is my favorite lick

  • What tuning does he use for slide?

  • @mrgregory121 I believe he uses just a standard tuning.

  • @mrgregory121 Should be standard tuning. He said at the show we went to that he can pick up anyone's standard tuned guitar at any time and do this. He illustrated that by playing a three string homemade cigar box guitar, and he still did this stuff on that. Also, he said no pedals or effects, ever.

  • @ThatBrittany True. I've seen him play borrowed guitars and get the same sound. His "tone" is in his fingers. I can also confirm that he has no effects at all, ever. There are two amps, a Fender Twin (I think) and a bass amp. He has a 3-way switch to move from guitar to guitar without switching cables. That is the only thing on the floor.

  • @bigdamnfan I forgot to notice what video this was. There are no amps here at all. This was the Rev totally acoustic, with me picking up his voice with a shotgun mic and his guitar with a condenser.

  • @mrgregory121 It sounds like an open tuning, I think this one is in open G and he has another one in open D.

  • @PwnageGravy I'll ask. I do know that I've never seen him re-tune a guitar on-stage, and he didn't while we were shooting these videos. When asked, he's always said he is using standard tuning.

  • @bigdamnfan The acoustic is in standard, but his resonators are all open tuning, you can tell by how he strums all the open strings and it sounds a chord.

  • woow fantastic !!!!

  • That is some real top stuff!

  • Thats pretty amazing, I bet thats alot of fun. :) I might try learning this.. been playing guitar for 8 years and im almost 17 :D

  • @BulletProof2088 On the recent Van's Warped Tour the Big Damn Band had a new T-shirt "Your favorite band's guitarist should have taken lessons from Reverend Peyton".

If you use the Firefox web browser and get the Download Helper add-on, you can download this video and import it into another video player so you can freeze the video and slow it down and get the fingering.

And do see the Big Damn Band in concert. As long as I've known him, the Rev is has always been willing to help other players.

  • with that first example, he's literally doing the impossible. he's playing two instruments at once.

  • @wtfomgbbq4 Yeah, the Rev is something. It's a bit like a drummer who can play in two different time signatures at the same time, like Billy Cobham or JD Bonebrake.

  • Yep, missed the group last time they played Topeka :( Purposely missed the Korn show at the Throttle last year to catch BDB - didn't dissapoint! It was a kick-ass show!!! I've passed along a couple vids to the executive director...not sure we can afford the fee but I'd love to see BDB come to town - right along I-35, just south of I-70 - two colleges in town. I know it'd be a success if the logistics could be hammered out...

  • @traywilson They are going to be tied up through fall with the Warped Tour. I know they'd like a venue between Kansas City and Denver - that's a long drive. I don't have any business connection to the band, they're just friends.

  • wish we could get you guys to come play the newly restored McPherson Opera House - would be a perfect venue for your acoustic style.

  • @traywilson They've played Topeka and Wichita. It looks like a great venue - maybe someone will put together a festival to draw folks to McPherson.

  • Te voltál mind a 31, ugye Kristóf?

Thanks a lot for the videos!

  • @ChoppaBtch Nah, whenever I get a comment in a language other than English, I use Bablefish and Google Language tools to find what it said, and try to translate a response. But I don't speak or read any language other than English.

  • @bigdamnfan Csigusz was joking around; since we are both big damn Big Damn Band fans, he knew I'd eventually watch this vid. But seriously, it's really awesome of you that you made these videos, and of course of the Rev too that he's teaching us some of the fabulous fingerpicking magic. Thanks!

  • @ChoppaBtch Ah, OK. I wanted to get these up before the Warped Tour started. This is not just to show off Rev's chops, but to introduce this style to a whole generation of players who might have never heard of it.

  • feri mivel csak mi nézzük ezeket, itt köszönök

  • @csigusz27 Szívesen.
