@Nastafar Those are airspeed indicators- pitot tubes .. they take air density samples. Commercial and civil aircraft have them built to be permanantly exposed fixtures during flight but since this is an aircraft that is designed to be undetectable to radar, these sensors can be lowered and hidden during flight by the prompt of the pilot in command. Any other aircraft would require that these be used at all times, but of course the military can get away with this because they are the military.
I for one would love to see what the F22 is really capable of if they were able to make a fully automated pilot for it with a system to run it off of. 1000 bucks says if they did such a thing they could pull enough G's to break the plane apart to test it's real limits of frame structure/design. Accelerate to 8 or 900+ MPH, pull a super hard turn with the thrust vectoring nozzles...

Let's face facts, there is NO fighter in development or thought of that can match the F-22. There is NOTHING with its capabilities nor is there anything that can stand up to it. Look at the info on it. It destroys current 4th Gen. Fighters as if its shooting fish in a barell. The F-35 is meant to be an all-around fighter where as the F-22 is for Air Superiority. F-22 will dominate anything that the Chinese or Russians attempt to make. Nothing can match it!!
not true. it is a truly awesome aircraft, but we have no known data on russias 4th gen radars except that it can track faster than our own but at shorter distances and that its rumored to be able to track stealth's and there developing 5th gen now. also the su47 proved to be more powerful and with full 3d thrust vectoring its more agile to. i'd still side with the f22 but thats without seeing what developes from the su47 test program.remember the su47 was only a tester and it rivaled f-22 close.

Negative, max speed for an Su-47 is believed to be 2.6 whereas raptor is 2.9, it can also fly faster for longer periods of time than anything out there and of course the ability to go around Mach 1.6 without afterburner! And to think, the YF-23 was said to be faster, more stealthy and pretty much equal in every other performance aspect! What could have been, but I think we will eventually see the 23 in part as a fighter/bomber.

I did my part of the homework, and the only thing the russians have been able to Detect was the F-117, Big woop! Its the first generation of stealth tech. Sorry but nothing comes close to the Raptor, not even this NEW stealth fighter the russians have developed. Hahaha and nothing like taking our designed of our YF-23 Blackwidow.
i forgot to mention it has forward conards making it far more agile at even lower speeds. this all being said. i chose the f-22 to sink $7,500 into building my own. rc of course,lol. i am working on a slight variation of the su47 though. it may run me a bit more due to its dual turbine set up, but well worth it i think and it'll be great to see what may be the last top dogs of manned combat aviation going at it on weekends at the field.
The Su-47??? Are you kidding?? The Su-47 wouldnt stand a chance against the Raptor. We have had pretty much every major fighter produced with forward swept wings, F-16, YF-17, F-18 etc, but we put in a lot of time and effort in the X-29 and it just wasn't an aircraft design worth building an entire fleet, which is probably why Russia has been sitting on the Su-47 for quite some time now. Cool looking plane, but no chance against an aircraft with the overall capabilities of the Raptor.

It's because the F22 has one of the first Dual thrust capability that allows for awesome maneuvering where if they had to they could temporarily stop in mid-air while enemy jets flies past them and target lock and flatline as the aircraft lines up the way they want

@Nastafar Those are airspeed indicators- pitot tubes .. they take air density samples. Commercial and civil aircraft have them built to be permanantly exposed fixtures during flight but since this is an aircraft that is designed to be undetectable to radar, these sensors can be lowered and hidden during flight by the prompt of the pilot in command. Any other aircraft would require that these be used at all times, but of course the military can get away with this because they are the military.

Look at the info on it. It destroys current 4th Gen. Fighters as if its shooting fish in a barell. The F-35 is meant to be an all-around fighter where as the F-22 is for Air Superiority. F-22 will dominate anything that the Chinese or Russians attempt to make. Nothing can match it!!

not true. it is a truly awesome aircraft, but we have no known data on russias 4th gen radars except that it can track faster than our own but at shorter distances and that its rumored to be able to track stealth's and there developing 5th gen now. also the su47 proved to be more powerful and with full 3d thrust vectoring its more agile to. i'd still side with the f22 but thats without seeing what developes from the su47 test program.remember the su47 was only a tester and it rivaled f-22 close.

people will never see what the jets are fully capable of. you have to be that inside person and those people keep theor mouths closed and the misterious answers coming. lol One thing i have seen though, is a raptor hold its own in a dead stop 10,000 feet up. truely just sitting there. lol very cool. plus its all about radar anymore. weather the russinas can detect or not, so can we! You really just have to really depend on training. its all about the man flying the jet!

being a person some what in the know. i would half to only agree in part.radar is but one tool of many to winning and air battle. russias jamming tech is way ahead of us. that means missile threats to.simply put... the su47 was just a test bed that has greater range, higher speeds,greater climb,more payload,full 3d vectoring, and a higher turn rate.equip it with gen 5 radar and raptors may have issues. again keep in mind that the su47 was just a test bed for an ongoing design.imagine what comes!

Negative, max speed for an Su-47 is believed to be 2.6 whereas raptor is 2.9, it can also fly faster for longer periods of time than anything out there and of course the ability to go around Mach 1.6 without afterburner! And to think, the YF-23 was said to be faster, more stealthy and pretty much equal in every other performance aspect! What could have been, but I think we will eventually see the 23 in part as a fighter/bomber.

I did my part of the homework, and the only thing the russians have been able to Detect was the F-117, Big woop! Its the first generation of stealth tech. Sorry but nothing comes close to the Raptor, not even this NEW stealth fighter the russians have developed. Hahaha and nothing like taking our designed of our YF-23 Blackwidow.

i forgot to mention it has forward conards making it far more agile at even lower speeds. this all being said. i chose the f-22 to sink $7,500 into building my own. rc of course,lol. i am working on a slight variation of the su47 though. it may run me a bit more due to its dual turbine set up, but well worth it i think and it'll be great to see what may be the last top dogs of manned combat aviation going at it on weekends at the field.

The Su-47??? Are you kidding?? The Su-47 wouldnt stand a chance against the Raptor. We have had pretty much every major fighter produced with forward swept wings, F-16, YF-17, F-18 etc, but we put in a lot of time and effort in the X-29 and it just wasn't an aircraft design worth building an entire fleet, which is probably why Russia has been sitting on the Su-47 for quite some time now. Cool looking plane, but no chance against an aircraft with the overall capabilities of the Raptor.

yeah yeah w/e. dude you really need to try and educate yourself on the subject better. russia has more advanced radars and much more advanced air to air missiles. that with the fact that the su-47 can do everything the raptor can and more. remember. the raptor only has 2D thrust vectoring where as the 47 has full 3D. as i stated before. i'd still put my money on the 22 but its a very close race indeed and also remember that the 47 was only a test bed for whats to come.

U believe what u want. U will see who's right when the F-35 will be put against a F-22 in aerial combat. The F-35 already got it's ass kicked by Su-30s in some Australian simulated aerial dog fights. If the Su-30 could beat it, think what a PAK-FA or J-XX would do tot it. & the F-22. U, & all who care only about money, will be in 4 a hard awakening when yr F-35 gets obliterated by the F-22. & BTW, a F-22 costs about $137 mil & F-35 about $83 mil, so u can't by 4 F-35s 4 just 1 F-22...

It's because the F22 has one of the first Dual thrust capability that allows for awesome maneuvering where if they had to they could temporarily stop in mid-air while enemy jets flies past them and target lock and flatline as the aircraft lines up the way they want

Ive got my people sources as to how I found out why there is very little military activity goin on in the 7 cities of virginia ( where I live). He is wasting more money on social programs instead. OMFG! 1st, the F-22 production was halted at 187 planes when 183 was the actuall order during the Bush administration. The F-22 is not for sale to anyone at all. It was Defense Secretary Robert Gates who recommended the long overdue military restructuring we need. And Obama increased military spending by 4% so no "social programs", got in the way! That's a typical and lame conservative attack! Most of the increase is going to pay checks and health care for the soldiers! Ooh those scary liberals!

Please point out to me where the 4% increase came into play. I see and hear more cuts than anything. Did the 4% increase come after the 60% cut in flight hours??? I dont know where you get your info but there is very little going on around here compared to what there used to be. Oceana has hornets ground till they get money for fuel and repair. We both agree that 4 or 500 more Raptors is a good thing but no airforce can afford that which is why smaller fighters are made. And then there's the recession. Cutbacks must be made.
