This is "my" AMC theme; I started watching in the early-ish 90s. It brings up strongly mixed emotions. AMC has lost its historical anchors. Not just to time or the passing of actors, but to the DEVASTATING Frons "vision." We've lost/will lose all the REAL Pine Valley adults, & it SHOWS. But it's not just that older generation. Among many other things, the fact that the last 3 before Lucci were Edmund-Jack-Dmitri is amazing. REAL LEADING MEN!! For that and many reasons, I REALLY MISS *THIS* AMC!
@SnowflakeSparkles26 thank you SO much for the info. yes, I know, unfortunately I couldn't watch her on Days yet. but I hope she was given a good storyline that she can use to the fullest because she is a MAGNIFICENT actrice, Robin Mattson. I hope it's good for her and for the entire soap.

@ddrgeek1987 True ddrgeek1987 I was expose to AMC when i was 12 back in 1990 with my mom to when i was 15 in '93 with my adopted sis then in early '94 i stopped which I feel silly for doing, learning how to treat girls when I was growing up and learning about women in general.

I think we all appreciate being able to view this video - reminds me of my youth, when my mother watched the show, and I was just a toddler - strange how music can do that.
I will always think that The Young And The Restless has the best opening montage ever (80s-1999 only....all the others beyond 99 suck badly and need to go back to the classic montage!) But I LOVE this opening. I am not too familiar with the show but my mom watched it until the late 90s and I sometimes watch it with my friend, Yvonne on SoapNet but just the more recent episodes.
I loved it when the introductory scene ended on a suspenseful and dramatic note, with characters giving long stares at one another--the song would begin with the familiar guitar strum and piano (sometimes for several seconds), then fade away into the opening of Joe and Ruth. It was the best opening sequence of AMC and perhaps all soaps (OLTL in the mid-late 80s is up there).
It's interesting to see when you watch clips like this, which characters are still on the show, and which actors have moved on to better things or other soap operas.
