  • PITTSBURGH ROCKS :)

  • I LOVED THESE GUYS!!! I used to go see them perform at this club in Greensburg! They were GREAT! I remember I bought this album! I am so glad I stumbled across this...I am not sure how I did stumble across it...but COOL!

    MANY THANKS FOR THE POST!!

  • Soooo many nights with my brother (who passed in '83) seeing these guys all over the city but many nights were here in Beaver County.....Morry's Speak Easy for one. I would love to be able to get a copy of Rock and Roll Enforcers AND Sidewalk Romeo (I believe that is the title of the other disc I've been looking for) Anyway....thanks for the memories guys.....and thanks for posting!

  • Rock World, I thought I was the only one who ever watched that show. I remember watching The Stranglers and being blown away at 10 years old. Love knowing I wasn't alone.

  • Thanks for the hookup on the cd Jannett! I went out and bought this lp right after seeing this video and was not dissapointed. One of the most prized items in my collection and a great album too!

  • Hi Malcolm. Glad you finally found this great song and video. There's an even more complete version of it here on YouTube on user "fncz"'s page which YT won't let me include the link to....weird.

WOW! A mystery has finally been solved after 31 years! Occasionally on nights like these, I think about a night at a Pittsburgh club listening to a new wave group I liked so much that I bought the album they were selling on site. I finally decided to do a search tonight; thanks so much for posting this! Now I know why this has occupied a corner of my brain all this time.

  • @66zep Glad to help out with your 31 year mystery! Be sure to check out the other copy of this video here on YT as it is slightly longer than the edited version I recorded back then.

  • FINALLY!!!! I found this song, the video, the band who plays it. I've been looking for this song for over 20 years. I thought it was the british band the Specials. I never could find who sang this song because I was one of the few people in South Florida that had MTV or that use to listen to this kind of music. Thank you so much for posting this video and for me Thank you, my search is over!!!!

  • I spent MANY Friday nights at Fat City in Swissvale watching the Silencers with the beautiful Linda D. from Heads Together. We'd "tune up" in the car before going inside - always totally packed with fans, great bar, great band, EXCELLENT times! I remember Larry working the door, Red the bouncer. These guys were awesome. I wish they wouldn't have tossed in the towel so quickly.

  • If you love this video, you MUST order

the Rock 'n Roll Enforcers CD from DT! It is AMAZING!!! Even has some licks not on the Album! I can't turn it off!!!! Alligator

  • They had a really good song called Shiver and Shake.

  • These guys were from Pittburgh and came down to WVa University quit a bit. Pretty cool.

  • The bartender is none other than great character actor (Dawn of the Dead) Ken Foree.

  • @Dietpepsivanilla

Wow, very cool catch. And he still looks very much like he did back all those years ago on his present IMDB page (which YouTube won't let me post the html link to. Any idea why they block this?

  • @morrisonAV Not sure on that Morrison. But hey, thanks for this video. I remember this great song and this band like Shooting Star and the Michael Stanley Band, deserved better. At least it got some great MTV play back in the day. And yes, I'm a huge Ken Foree fan.

  • Dave, Thanks for the info. I just ordered.

  • Go to the website for DNT Recording Studio and their store has some of it.

    Dave

  • Silencers were great. Saw them a million times at Fat City in Swissvale, best night club. Great times! (Hi LInda!)

Walterx2 - I would love to get the remastered CD - I have both LPs the Silencers put out. Can someone provide info on how to get it???

    Thanks!

  • Well at least in the 3rd sequence....to the crowd!! Aaaah good times. LOL

  • SOMEONE was passing out 714's!!!!

  • Very Cool...been looking for this for awhile! Had the album as a teen.

  • Thanks for the info, Walter. I think I'll be buying one.

    Dave

P.S. the link to the "Peter Gunn" video on the website is broken

  • wwwdntrecordingstudioscom/store

  • The CD is available, it was just digitally remastered by Dennis Takos who played keyboards in the band.

  • Jeez I miss this album. Once in a while I check to see if I can find it, or the early Norm Nardini albums, on cd. I keep checking...

  • Wow this brings back some great memories! The Silencers were one of my fav's from that era, along with Dirty Looks. Never got the chance to see the Silencers live, but I bet they were good. Rock World was were I first saw them also. Thanks for posting this!

  • I remember I saw this video Saturday night and bought the album Sunday afternoon.

Back in those days, before MTV took over, you could watch one music show after another on regular tv.(New Wave Theatre,Don Kirschner's Rock Concert and Night Flight)

They were so desperate to fill air time, you would see punk to rap to rock to new wave.

  • @multigenremusicmvmnt Also, don't forget "Hollywood Heartbeat" and "Friday Night Videos"!!

    dave

  • @morrisonAV

Before you had informercials and stuff to fill space, this tv station (Channel 22) had a 4 HOUR video show from 2pm to 6pm every week day! I wouldn't hang out with friends after school,I go straight home.Just one video after another.

At 4pm to 6pm or so on channel 9,there was a show with Richard Blade from KROQ and some guy named Dave Maples.

  • RIP Warren

  • The Silencers kicked ass and Frank is the best rock singer in America!

  • Mr. Czuri, I'm honored. Thanks for checking in and thanks for some great music. That Post-Gazette story was VERY interesting. I never realized that Pittsburgh was such a hotbed of new music in the late '70s and early '80s. Between you and Donnie Iris, there was a lot of great music up there! Can you share any memories about the making of the video? It was one of the first ones I ever recorded and I've saved it for 30 years. I only wish I had the original long version of it. Never saw it before.

  • Thanks....I am the singer
